Thomas: I’m serious, brooke. Keep it up.
Brooke: That sounds like a threat.
Thomas: I promise that you will never interfere with my father’s life or family again.
[ Taylor chuckling softly ]
Taylor: I’ll never forget monaco. But, god, it confuses me. I… because I know how we feel about each other. But this feels like some– some karmic lesson. I don’t want to force anything either way. If we’re meant to be together, then we’re gonna be together.
Ridge: Is that right?
Taylor: Yeah, that is right. I think it would be smart for you to open your eyes. What you think it is you’re fighting for over there doesn’t make you happy. Is that what you want for the rest of your life?
Eric: Nikki newman in the forrester office right here in L.A.
Nikki: And I came all the way from genoa city.
Eric: Yeah, just to see me.
Nikki: Well, yes, of course, and also to find the perfect forrester original for summer.
Eric: I think you have. Oh, this is my granddaughter steffy.
Steffy: Hi, there. Lovely for me to meet you.
Eric: And hope logan.
Hope: Hi, it’s good to see you again.
Nikki: Good to see you too.
Hope: Yes.
Eric: So, here we are. You think we’re going in the right direction?
Nikki: Oh, eric. Oh, the sketches that you sent didn’t do it justice.
Eric: Good.
Nikki: I– I’m thrilled. I– I know summer will be too.
Steffy: Oh, that’s fantastic.
Hope: I’m sure she’s so excited about her vow renewal.
Nikki: I think my granddaughter is going to be even more excited that eric and ridge forrester, world-renowned fashion designers, have created a dress for her.
Eric: Well, we’re happy to do it. The newmans and the forresters go way back, don’t we?
Nikki: Mm-hmm.
Steffy: By the way, nikki, I’m so sorry my father couldn’t make it, but he does send his regards.
Nikki: And please give him mine. Haven’t seen him in ages. I wish I could catch up with him on this trip, but I’m so scheduled. Oh, my goodness, it is hard to believe that ridge forrester is a grandfather.
[ Eric laughing ] Of course, we all tend to think of ourselves as still 25. I know I do.
Eric: Yes, and so do I.
Steffy: Well, he’s definitely a– a doting grandfather. Family is everything to him.
Nikki: Oh, speaking of which, I’m so glad you and your husband are all right. I read about those terrible shootings. And what you and your family must have gone through. You are all right, aren’t you?
Steffy: Yes. Yes. Despite the hell sheila carter put us through.
[ Tv playing ]
Sheila: What are you doing? I’m trying to watch my stories.
Deacon: I’m pacing.
[ Exhales sharply ]
Sheila: I can see that, but can you stop? Because you’re making me dizzy just watching you.
Deacon: Deal with it.
[ Tv shuts off ]
Sheila: What’s wrong?
Deacon: There’s– there’s nothing wrong, not with me. It’s the situation.
Sheila: What– what situation?
Deacon: You and me living here. Sheila, I don’t know how much longer this can continue.
Nikki: Sheila hurt so many people. In genoa city. In L.A. She was such an evil, destructive force.
Eric: “Was” being the operative word. She’s dead now. She can’t cause anyone else any harm.
Steffy: Thankfully. Though there’s not a day that goes by where I don’t thank god for finn or my family knowing that we were so close to losing him.
Nikki: I would like to meet finn sometime. He sounds like a remarkable man.
Steffy: He is. He’s really remarkable. Remarkable husband, father. He’s loving. He’s really compassionate.
Hope: And he’s great with kids too. They all adore him.
Nikki: It’s hard to believe a sociopath like sheila could give birth to someone so caring given who she is.
Eric: Was.
Nikki: Yes, was.
Eric: Yeah.
Nikki: Past tense.
Sheila: I… I don’t want to hear this.
Deacon: You asked me what was going on. I told you.
Sheila: If you are even suggesting–
Deacon: No, no, I know, I know, sheila. This is not what you want to hear, but with you hiding out here, one screwup and we’ll wind up back in prison. You’re not doing either of us any favors with this insane delusion you have. I’m sorry. I’m sorry. Your dream.
Sheila: What dream?
Deacon: Do I look like I’ve got “dumbass” tattooed on my forehead? You know damn well what I’m talking about.
[ Laughter ]
Taylor: Hi, sweetheart.
Thomas: I wasn’t expecting you.
Taylor: I know. I was just on my way into the office, so I thought I’d stop by and see how everything was going.
Thomas: Oh, you’re checking up on me now too.
Taylor: Huh?
Thomas: Uh, I’m sorry. That wasn’t meant for you.
Taylor: Hmm. Who was it meant for?
[ Thomas sighing ]
Thomas: It was brooke.
Taylor: What did she do now?
Thomas: It doesn’t matter.
Taylor: Oh, it does. What did she want?
Thomas: What does she always want? To call me crazy again.
Brooke: Oh, wow, I needed that.
Ridge: Me too.
Brooke: What are you doing here? I thought you were having a meeting with nikki newman.
Ridge: Oh, uh, no, dad’s doing that one.
Brooke: Oh, okay.
Ridge: What about you? I thought you were gonna go see ronaldo.
Brooke: Yeah. Uh, I just pushed that back a bit.
Ridge: Okay.
Brooke: I wanted to go see thomas and talk to him about douglas.
Ridge: Brooke, why do you do these things?
Brooke: Please just hear me out. I’m not doing this to upset you. You know how much I love you. I just… I’m just worried about douglas being in thomas’ care. Sweet pillows of softness!
Nikki: Eric, you are a true artist. It’s gorgeous, and summer is just gonna be a knockout. The cut, the neckline. It’s just stunning.
Eric: Well, those were ridge’s ideas, but I did the– I did the length of the stitching.
Nikki: Oh, well, I love the stitching too. It’s very inspired.
Eric: Thank you.
Nikki: Thank you. Thank you, everybody. I know that you’ll be hearing the same thing from summer as well.
Steffy: Oh, it’s great. So, are you staying in L.A. For a few days, or are you gonna head back to genoa city right away?
Nikki: No, I’m heading back. I have one stop I need to make first.
Deacon: Sheila, please tell me that I’m finally getting through to you, that you’re really hearing me, that you understand that this– this crazy fantasy you have about reuniting with finn and hayes, it just can’t happen.
Sheila: I’m a mother and a grandmother, and no one is going to take that away from me, and you certainly are not taking that away from me.
Deacon: I– I know, and we’ll talk about it tonight, but I’ve got to get to work.
Sheila: Oh, yeah, if I need you, that– that’s right. You want– you do– you do that. You– you go to work, and you see people, and you see your daughter, and I’m– I’m just gonna keep staring at these same boring four walls that i have been looking at ever since I got here while my son and my grandson… forget it.
Deacon: Come on, sheila.
Sheila: What? I said forget it.
Deacon: How the hell did this become like a real marriage?
Taylor: So, brooke went after you because steffy wouldn’t let her talk to your father the other night?
Thomas: Yeah, and because I probably didn’t yell from across the room and be like, “hey, by the way, dad, brooke’s on the phone.”
Taylor: Wait, you knew about it? You were in on it? Honey, you’re just giving brooke reasons to attack you.
Thomas: I understand, but honestly, I think that brooke was just trying to tell me how little she thought of me, and she accused me of not being fit to be douglas’ parent.
Taylor: Wow, like she’s one to talk with her own parental track record.
Thomas: Yeah, I mean, I think it was the knife that’s kind of what set her off.
Taylor: A– a– a knife?
Thomas: Yeah, I was– I was peeling an apple with a knife. You know how you always do before you eat it?
Taylor: Yeah.
Thomas: Yeah, and I think that just triggered her, and, um, yeah, she accused me of being a danger to my own son. I mean, how insane is that?
Brooke: Look, I don’t like to feel this way about thomas. I don’T. I know he’s your son.
Ridge: Are you still concerned that he’s gonna do something?
Brooke: Yes, I am. And– and I’m also concerned that he hasn’t brought him back home.
Ridge: Back home? He had– thomas and hope share custody, and right now it’s thomas’ turn to spend some time with his son because he hasn’T. And he’s gonna be fine. He’s gonna be safe. What do you– what is that? What is that look? What do you know? Tell me.
Brooke: He had a knife. A knife around douglas. I mean, that worries me, ridge. Thomas scares me.
[ Sneezing ] Are you okay? to see nikki.
Hope: Yeah, she has a really good energy about her. Never mind. I’m just glad she liked the dress.
Steffy: Yeah, okay, well, since we have nothing else to really talk about, I’m gonna return some calls.
Hope: Actually, I would like to address the fact– actually, revisit the fact that you hung up on my mom and refused to let her speak to her husband.
Steffy: You’re not over that? I thought we moved on from this.
Hope: Uh, no, I– I wouldn’t say we have, especially given how it is affecting the families. I mean, look how divided we’ve become.
Steffy: I wouldn’t necessarily say that.
Hope: Really?
Steffy: No.
Hope: I’m currently trying to not, uh, have to start a custody war over douglas, and meanwhile you and taylor and thomas are trying to lure ridge away from my mom, so…
Steffy: Yeah, well, the clock’s ticking. My mom feels it. Thomas feels it. Sooner rather than later, brooke’s gonna do something, and my father’s not gonna be able to forgive her, and then my mother and my father, they’ll eventually find their way back to each other.
Hope: And isn’t that what you wanted all along, for my mother’s marriage to fail? It’s okay, you can stop pretending.
Steffy: I never pretended brooke was the woman I wanted for my dad. She is the last person I want for my father. I admit I tried not to interfere when my mom wasn’t here, but she’s back now. And my mother and my father, they’re reconnecting in such a beautiful way. So, yeah, I am rooting for my parents to get back together. And I’ll do whatever it takes to make that happen, hope.
Taylor: Who doesn’t peel an apple with a knife? It– it’s not like you left douglas alone with it or handed it to him and said, “hey, let’s play catch.”
Thomas: I know that, you know that, but brooke, she likes to put her own spin on things.
Taylor: You would never let anything happen to douglas. Brooke is just trying to make a fake fight like she always does.
Thomas: Well, that’s what she loves to do. She loves to paint me in the worst light possible. And why? Because she thinks I’m a terrible person. She– she can’t ever bring herself to believe that maybe I’ve changed.
Taylor: But you know that you have, and we know that you have. You put in so much work to turn your life around.
Thomas: Not according to brooke. Look, I made mistakes, and I’ve done things that I’m not proud of, but I think I’ve moved past that. And– and I made sure to tell brooke that if I am so messed up, it is her fault. Because she came in and she hurt you. She hurt dad, ripping him away from the family that he loves so much, and I’m not going to let that ever happen again. I will protect you and our family from her at all costs.
Brooke: I hate admitting it, ridge. I– I know how much you believe in thomas.
Ridge: But you don’T.
Brooke: I wish I could, for your sake, but I just don’t feel like douglas is safe around him.
Ridge: Come on, because of a knife? Really?
Brooke: Yes, because of a knife. That was very dangerous. And also the fact that he won’t bring douglas home to his mom, to hope. And also his troubled history. I mean, I will protect douglas no matter what. I would call child protective services on thomas if I had to.
Ridge: No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
Brooke: Yes, I would.
Ridge: Hang on one second. I know you’re upset, but this is my son you’re talking about. No one’s calling anybody. We’re gonna handle this as a family, and if you’re concerned about some knife, then I’ll go get it and get rid of it. I told you I would intervene if there was ever a problem, if i ever felt that– that– that– douglas was in danger. He’s my flesh and blood. I love that little kid, and so does thomas. There’s nothing to worry about.
Brooke: I want to believe you.
Ridge: Well, then do. Believe me. The kid is happy, and he’s safe. Okay?
[ Brooke sighing ] Ridge: Okay. Are you tired of clean clothes that just don’t smell clean?
Deacon: Enjoy.
Woman: Thank you.
Nikki: Let’s make this short and sweet.
Deacon: You came.
Nikki: You said you might have something that would help me with diane jenkins.
Deacon: What are you talking about? I’m kidding. I’ll be right back. I hope this does the trick.
Nikki: Me too. Thanks.
Deacon: Nikki, if there’s anything else I can do, just let me know, okay? I want you to know that, uh, you’re a class act. You always have been. You always will be. And I care about you, and I respect you a lot. And, nik, you do look good.
Taylor: Oh, I’m so glad you came by. It’s perfect timing. I’m– I’m in between clients.
Steffy: You seem a little agitated.
Taylor: I am agitated. I am. Um…
Steffy: What’s– what’s wrong?
Taylor: I talked to thomas. You’ll never believe what brooke is saying about your brother.
Steffy: Oh, no.
Ridge: I’m not sure we need the belt. What do you think? Thomas?
Thomas: Sorry. What?
Ridge: What’s going on?
[ Thomas clearing his throat ]
Thomas: You know what? I– I just got a lot on my mind.
Ridge: Stuff with brooke, you mean.
Thomas: Yeah. I’m guessing she talked to you about it.
Ridge: What happened?
[ Thomas sighing ] She’s– she’s never gonna believe me. Dad, she doesn’t believe that I’m a changed person at all. I mean, she saw me eating an apple with a knife, and she freaked out.
Ridge: She mentioned the knife, yes. Brooke’s concerned, and she, um, she said she’d, um–
Thomas: She said she’d what?
Ridge: She said she would call child services on you if she had to.
Thomas: What?
Hope: Mom, what is really going on?
Brooke: Honey, I know you want to believe that thomas has put all of his ugliness in the past and that he’s learned from his mistakes and he’s a better man, he’s a better father, but he’s not. I saw. I was there.
Hope: So, what did you see?
[ Brooke sighing ]
Brooke: I went over to eric’s to tell thomas to please send douglas home.
Hope: Mom–
Brooke: Look, I know you don’t want me involved in this and you want to take care of it all yourself, but, honey, I am worried. I think that thomas is dangerous. He had a knife.
Hope: What?
Brooke: Yes. He had a very sharp knife. Douglas isn’t safe with thomas. He shouldn’t be in his care. I’m really worried about that little boy.
