Brooke: So, did you work everything out, sweetheart?
Hope: Yeah, no, it’s fine. It’s just security trying to stop aunt donna from leaving with beth.
Liam: Oh… that’s my bad. I was supposed to call this morning and tell them the schedule and I didn’T.
Hope: No, it’s fine. It’s okay, really. I–I forgot the new gate code yesterday.
Ridge: I know all of this is a big inconvenience. I’m sorry.
Brooke: Well, it’s necessary.
Liam: Yeah, it is necessary.
[Stammers] Do the police have any…leads? Has sheila tried to contact anyone?
Ridge: Apparently not.
Hope: It’s like sheila’s disappeared. I–I just don’t understand how that can be.
[Monitor beeping]
Sheila: [Sighs] I love you so much, finn. All I have ever wanted was for you to love me back, baby. There he is. My precious boy. How you feeling? Do you want me to get you anything? Is there anything that you need?
Finn: Steffy. I need steffy.
Ridge: Baker assures me that finding sheila is his top priority.
Liam: Oh. Well, then. Good luck with that, ’cause she could be anywhere by now.
Brooke: Or she could still be in town.
Hope: Which is even scarier.
Ridge: And probably more likely because I mean, look, she could’ve left before anyone found out that she was the shooter. But now she’s got no passport, no id, no credit cards, no money. Where’s she going?
Liam: Then it’s really good that steffy and the kids are out of the country ’cause that means they’re safe.
Ridge: Yes, we–we can assume that but we– we can’t let our guard down. We’ve gotta help the police put that woman behind bars. We gotta do it, and that’s why baker’s coming over here now.
Brooke: Well, we might have information that they may need.
Liam: Information about sheila? What information?
Hope: Did she try to contact you? Did she make some sort of threat?
Brooke: No. It’s just… we may know how sheila escaped from prison.
Sheila: I know how much you miss steffy, hayes, and kelly.
Finn: They think I’m dead. I need to see my family.
[Door opens]
Mike: It’s me!
[Door closes] Everything okay? Your kid’s still in pretty bad shape. You don’t want to get him all wound up.
Sheila: I don’t need your opinions, mike.
Mike: Maybe I should’ve made yours decaf.
Sheila: I was just explaining to my son… how his family needs him to recover. You need to rest. You need to regain your strength. I’m here, let me take care of you and then you will be reunited with steffy and the kids.
Finn: Today. Today! I want to see steffy today. (Vo) red lobster’s seafood summerfest is fire!
Brooke: We have to do whatever we can to bring sheila to justice.
Liam: And–and this– this clue you guys are hesitating to tell us about is gonna make that happen or…
Ridge: It’s gonna be a start for the police. They can maybe find something. Look, the longer sheila’s out there, the more dangerous she becomes to us.
Liam: Well, yeah, sure, but thankfully you have this place locked down.
Ridge: And it’s gonna stay locked down until we find her.
Brooke: And there’s not going to be anybody literally opening up doors for her. The police think this was an inside job. And I think it was an old friend who set her free.
[Knocks on door]
Ridge: That’s gotta be baker. Tell security to let him through. Hey. Come on in. Thanks for coming by.
Baker: I guess this is about sheila carter?
Ridge: Yeah, last conversation we had, um, got us thinking.
Baker: Yeah, me too. I went back over the interview transcripts, had my team go deeper into the prison personnel, especially the officer in charge when sheila escaped.
Baker: Guthrie?
Baker: That’s right. Richard michael guthrie. That name mean something to you?
Mike: Your prisoner… I mean, patient, seems a little agitated. Maybe you want to sedate him again.
Sheila: I am not holding him hostage.
Finn: Yes, you are. Look at me, I’m trapped in this bed.
Sheila: You’re injured! I’ve been treating you! Baby… I love you. And everything that I have been doing is for you.
Mike: You want him to go nighty-night?
Sheila: No. I just–I just want him to calm down.
[Sighs] Can you do that? Can you be good for mike for just a little bit so I can go jump in the shower?
Mike: Hey, sheila, I’m not a babysitter. I’m a highly trained security officer.
Sheila: Yeah, and I’m just hoping you don’t have to use any of those tactical moves while I’m gone. I won’t be gone long.
Mike: Make it quick. I gotta go to work.
Sheila: Okay.
[Sighs]
Mike: This is crazy, huh? You were a goner. But you’re back now. Look, finn… what your mother said is true.
Finn: Sheila.
Mike: She could’ve gone on the run. She–she stayed here for you.
[Shower running] She’s risking everything to be here with you. If that’s not love…
Finn: Hmm, it’s not. If she loved me, I’d be in a hospital. And my family… wouldn’t be grieving for no reason. Listen… mike… I know you’re the one who got her out of prison.
Mike: Uniform’s kind of a giveaway.
Finn: Why? Why would you do that?
Mike: It’s personal.
Finn: She got some sort of hold over you?
Mike: Sheila and i go way back. We have a lot of history. There’s just something about her. I have a weakness for sheila, always have. Got this power over me. Maybe it’s her eyes. Like a wild animal the way she looks right into you.
Finn: She’s gonna ruin your life, mike. She’s a fugitive. An escaped convict. They won’t stop until they find her. She will go back to prison. You will, too. Unless… you help me get out of here. You do the right thing before it’s too late. Cats really know how to do less
Ridge: Richard michael guthrie.
Brooke: The guard in charge when sheila escaped was mike?
Baker: His employment records at the prison say “richard.”
Ridge: Well, when he worked security at forrester, it was mike.
Hope: That mike?
Liam: I’m sorry, what are you guys talking about?
Hope: No, the one that i heard all those stories about.
Ridge: Yeah, he and sheila, they–they were like bonnie and clyde.
Liam: Does that mean they committed crimes together? Like, what–what–
Ridge: Yes!
Brooke: Yes, kidnapping, tampering with medical records, blackmail.
Liam: Oh, that’s fun.
Ridge: So how does someone like that end up working in a prison? How does that work?
Baker: We’re looking into it.
Brooke: Do you know where he is right now? Maybe he’s with sheila somewhere!
Baker: Well, at this point there’s no evidence to suggest that he had anything to do with sheila’s escape.
Ridge: No evidence? He’s her henchman! We just said that!
Baker: Right now their connection is circumstantial. We need video evidence, witnesses, something.
Ridge: So the fact that sheila escaped while guthrie was watching her, that’s just a coincidence, you believe that?
Baker: What I believe doesn’t put people in prison. Evidence does. Officer guthrie is already a person of interest in this case. He’s given the police a statement.
Brooke: But the statement you showed us was very vague.
Ridge: Yeah, he didn’t answer any questions, not at all. And now we know that he knew sheila from before. Isn’t that reason enough to call him back in?
Baker: His employment record is spotless. He hasn’t missed a day of work. He’s not behaving like a man with anything to hide.
Hope: Wait, so he might have helped sheila escape from prison, but he’s still working there?
Ridge: Is he working today?
Baker: Yeah, I checked. He’s ready to start on the next shift.
Ridge: Well, then, let’s go down there and see him. And I promise you, when he sees us, he’s gonna have a lot to say.
Mike: Sheila’s been out for a while now. Cops haven’t found her.
Finn: She will get caught, mike. And you’ll go down with her. But if you do as I say, and you listen to me, you– you could be the hero in this story.
Mike: Makes sheila the villain. Finn, sheila wasn’t trying to kill you. She didn’t kidnap you. She saved your life. I was there, I saw it. She was desperate. She would’ve done anything to bring you back.
Finn: Well, now she wants to keep me.
Mike: No! No, no. As soon as you’re better, she’s gonna let you go back to your wife and kids. You’re on your way.
Finn: And then what? Are we just gonna go on and pretend like none of this ever happened?
Mike: I don’t know. Maybe she and I’ll…take off. Hit the road together.
Finn: And that’s your plan? Go on the run with sheila? Yeah, she’s laying low for now, but a prison guard and a fugitive… on the run. You can’t hide forever. They will find you. But you can fix this. I’ll speak on your behalf. I promise. Let me go.
[Door opens]
[Door closes]
Sheila: [Chuckles] What’s going on?
Mike: Nothing.
Sheila: Nothing?
Mike: I gotta to go work.
Sheila: You do that. We wouldn’t want anyone to get suspicious, would we? What was that about?
Finn: What?
Sheila: Mike. In such a hurry to rush out of here. What– what did you say to him? Are you planning something, finn? So, you’re 45.
Liam: So… what do we know about this mike guy?
Hope: Oh, well, apparently he has a history with sheila and our family. It was a long time ago and no one really talks about it but he was a guard at forrester.
Liam: Well, I mean, that makes sense. That’s a useful person for sheila to have around.
Hope: I wonder if he’s the one who let her out.
Liam: Well, if he did, he’s clearly not too bright because he’s gonna be suspect number one, right?
Hope: I don’t get why he would jeopardize his job like that.
Liam: Oh, I’m sure sheila promised him something.
Hope: Yeah, well, sheila’s full of promises, but she never keeps them.
Liam: [Chuckles]
Hope: Unless it’s for revenge, so I can see why ridge is worried.
Liam: Yeah, well, ridge is also highly motivated to get to the bottom of this thing and if… he and your mom are right, that mike guthrie is the one who helped sheila escape, then they’ve basically solved the case.
Guard: You’re late, richard.
Mike: Sorry, I got hung up checking on a friend.
Guard: Well, you have some people waiting to see you. Showed up a little while ago.
Mike: Who? Who’s waiting to see me?
Baker: Mike guthrie?
Mike: What’s going on?
Baker: I’m deputy chief baker, los angeles police. We’d like to ask you a few questions.
Mike: About what?
Ridge: About how you helped sheila carter escape.
Finn: You’re making a mistake keeping me here.
Sheila: I’m just trying to make you comfortable and nurse you back to health.
Finn: Then give me your phone. Let me call my family.
Sheila: [Chuckles] That’s what you were talking to mike about.
Finn: Yeah. Just trying to get through to him, make him see what’s really going on here. How much trouble he’s in.
Sheila: Hmm. Must not have worked or you wouldn’t be asking me for my phone.
Finn: It’s only a matter of time, sheila. The police are gonna track you down. You can’t hid me here forever.
Sheila: What are you talking about, “forever”? I’m not holding you hostage, I’m taking care of you. Are you in pain? No. You’re being fed, you’re being medicated. And if I didn’t love you so much, I would’ve run. I would’ve run so far away from here, and I never would’ve come back. But all I want, all I’ve ever wanted, is to spend time with my precious little boy that was kept away from me all those years. Is that too much to ask?
Finn: Yeah. Because I don’t want to spend another second with you. I want to go home, to steffy, to hayes, and kelly. They think I’m dead. Do you know how cruel that is? Damn it, sheila, I am not asking you! I am telling you! You need to let me go now!
Sheila: Why are you talking to me in this tone? I love you!
Finn: Then prove it! Let me talk to steffy and tell her I’m alive!
Sheila: Not yet.
Finn: Now. Now.
Sheila: No, it wouldn’t even matter. What are you– what are you doing?
Finn: I’m out of here.
Sheila: No. No.
Finn: I don’t care. I’m getting out of here.
Sheila: You can’t! You can’t do that!
Finn: …Be with my family! I don’t care if I gotta tear off every wire, or every…
Sheila: Get back in there!
Finn: I’m gonna go be with my wife and my family!
Sheila: You’re gonna hurt yourself. You don’t–
Finn: Get off me! I’m gonna see steffy! Now! I’m going to my family!
