Chance: [ Muttering ]
[ Panting ]
[ Muttering continues ] N-no!
[ Dominic crying ] Oh, you’re okay. Hey, buddy, hey, hey, hey. Shh, shh, shh, shh! Oh, daddy’s so sorry. Oh, daddy’s so sorry, buddy.
What happened? I heard you yell, and then dominic started crying. Is everything okay? Shh, it’s okay, it’s okay.
Devon: Here it all is. Thank you for preparing it.
Amanda: It’s a lot to take in, I know. But it’s what you wanted — what you said you wanted, right?
Devon: Yeah. No, you nailed it.
Amanda: Good. It’s a big step. Are you ready?
Devon: Feels different, seeing it laid out like this. This — this makes it all very real.
Amanda: I know. Does that change things? Do you still want to move forward?
Rey: What’s a nice lady like you doing in a place like this?
Sharon: What makes you think I’m nice?
Rey: Well, I just assumed you were. Are you saying you aren’t?
Sharon: I have my moments.
Rey: Really? Well, I’m interested in hearing all about them. In fact, I’m interested in all of you.
Sharon: Well, thank you. I’m really flattered, but, sorry, I’m off the market. I’m happily married.
Rey: Is that right?
Sharon: 100%. But I will give you this to remember me by.
Rey: I’m glad I found you. Not just because of that, because that was — mmm! — Spectacular, but I have a proposal.
Sharon: Does that mean you’re propositioning me?
Rey: Yeah, I guess I am. And my proposition is —
Mariah: Hi, guys!
Sharon: Hi!
Mariah: Can we butt in?
Sharon: Yeah, please do. We don’t mind, do we, rey?
Rey: Uh, no, no, of course not. More the merrier.
Sharon: What would you like to drink?
Mariah: Ooh.
Tessa: Oh. Um, I will get the biggest vanilla latte you’ve ever made in your life.
Mariah: Good idea.
Sharon: Iced or hot?
Tessa: Ooh. Iced.
Sharon: Mm-kay, that’s my favorite order.
Chelsea: Are you sure you don’t want to talk about whatever it is victor did today?
Adam: Eh, I’ll deal with it later. There’s no point in dwelling on it now.
Chance: Oh. I thought you accepted my invitation to have a drink because you needed a sympathetic ear.
Adam: Mm. No. We have some other things to discuss.
Chelsea: Yes — connor and selling the penthouse. I think it’s gonna sell quickly in this market. My head is spinning just thinking about it.
Adam: What, are you having second thoughts about selling it?
Chelsea: No. No, but, you know, it’s overwhelming, thinking about packing up all that stuff, you know? All those memories. I’m thinking we should donate a lot of it. I just have to decide what stays, what goes…
Adam: Chelsea, I know there’s something more important on your mind than donating old furniture from our condo.
Chelsea: You’re right. There is something else I wanted to discuss.
Adam: [ Sighs ] Well, if it is what I think it is, I just — I want to save some time and energy, because we cannot keep having this conversation. We will always be in each other’s lives, but I don’t know how to say this any plainer — there is no future between us. Are you tired of clean clothes that just don’t smell clean?

Chelsea: Adam, we have come back from seemingly insurmountable situations before. I mean, I’ve lost you more than once. I moved on with my life, and you came back. You promised me that you would make things right. You promised me we could rebuild what we had, and we did. So now it’s my turn, okay? I want to make those promises to you.
Adam: Yeah, you’re — you’re missing something in your recollection, chelsea.
Chelsea: And what’s that?
Adam: That it always fell apart again. This last time, it didn’t just disintegrate. It blew up. I mean, do you really want to do that again?
Chelsea: I know you’re scared of history repeating itself. So am I. It’s hard to put your heart in the hands of the person you need the most because that’s the person who could break your heart. But, adam, I know that’s what — you’re just afraid. It’s worth the risk. I promise you.
Adam: Okay, I’m not so sure about that, chelsea.
Chelsea: It would be way worse to walk away from the possibility of true happiness because I believe we could have that, that deep, deep love again. So, adam, I am asking you… …let’s try again.
Abby: Are you okay?
Chance: Yeah, yeah, I’m fine. I just fell asleep for a second. I’m so sorry.
Abby: And you had a bad dream?
Chance: Yeah. I, uh — I woke up, and i yelled.
[ Dominic crying ] I scared the hell out of him. Look at him.
Abby: It’s okay. It’s okay. It was a nightmare?
Chance: Yeah. Yeah.
Abby: What was it about?
Chance: I don’t know. I don’t remember. I…
Abby: It was like five minutes ago.
Chance: I know, abby, but it’s a dream. It comes, it goes. I mean, what do you want me to tell you? I just feel bad I scared him so bad.
[ Dominic crying ]
Abby: Aw. He’s gonna be just fine. Look. [ Gasps ] See? I told you. Yeah. He’s just tired. I’m gonna put him in here, and he’s gonna go right back to sleep, see? Want to go back to sleep?
[ Gasps ] Oh, yes. He’s sleepy. Look. He’s already drifting off. So sleepy.
Chance: You’re so great with him.
Abby: So are you. You just don’t know it.
Chance: I’m trying.
Abby: Well, I am not worried about it. What I’m worried about is these nightmares. When you’re sleeping, I mean, you’re tossing and turning all night. Sometimes you wake up screaming “no,” like you just did.
Chance: I know. I know. I’m sorry. I’m — I’m waking up the whole house.
Abby: [ Sighs ] I don’t care about the quality of my sleep. I care about what’s going on in your head. Sometimes it feels like part of you is still in spain. Have you thought about maybe seeing a therapist or talking to someone, like sharon, or someone who specializes in this kind of thing?
Chance: Yes, and I would if i thought it was necessary, but it’s not, okay? Being here with you and being here with dom and talking to you — that’s what I need. That’s what’s gonna get me through this. Now, look, we knew that this was gonna take some time for me to adjust to. And that’s what I’m doing. But please don’t worry about me. You got your hands full already. Please. But thank you for just being so caring and loving and wonderful. And hot. Did I mention hot? ‘Cause, damn.
Abby: Alright, now it feels like you’re trying to distract me from what we were talking about.
Chance: Me? No, no, no, no. If I wanted to distract you, i would just do this.
Abby: Mmm. Yeah. That’s very distracting.
Chance: Yeah.
[ Chuckles ] Well, now that’s he is sleeping, it’s probably a good time to slip out and run some errands, don’t you think? You need anything?
Abby: No. I just need you here with me. Yeah. The baby’s asleep.
Chance: Hmm?
Abby: Yeah. I think we should take advantage of this time. Come with me upstairs.
Devon: I want to have a bigger role in dominic’s life, and I think that having legal rights to protect our relationship is the best way to go about it.
Amanda: Agreed.
Devon: And I love him and i want to do what’s right by him and I know that chance needs more time to recover right now. He went through a traumatic situation. He’s not ready to be a parent. And it’s forcing abby to have to juggle everything, and I just want to be there to help him. That’s it. I just wish it didn’t have to come to me doing something like this.
Amanda: But this is the best way to get what you want.
Devon: Well, what I wanted was arranged visits. I didn’t want to be forced into attacking their parenting skills.
Amanda: You are going to need to make the argument that chance is incapable of giving dominic the love and support that he needs right now. It will be painful.
Devon: I know.
Amanda: And legally we need to go into this with our strongest strategy. I’m ready to fight to get you the relationship that dominic deserves. But this isn’t about me. This is about you. Custody battles are brutal. So if I’m gonna file this paperwork, you need to be sure that you are willing to do what it takes to win. Sleek
Sharon: You girls look ridiculously happy.
Mariah: Well, I don’t know about ridiculous, but we are definitely happy.
Sharon: You can never have too much of that.
Mariah: I don’t know. If I was on the outside looking at us, I would be like, “oh, my god, they look so happy. I hate them.”
[ Laughter ]
Sharon: No. Just enjoy it.
Tessa: Yeah, well, we’ve had a lot of excitement lately. I do wish we could just pace it out, like, a little bit.
Mariah: Yeah, that’s exactly what I’m saying. And speaking of fun, rey, we missed you the other night at nick’s party.
Rey: Oh, yeah. Yeah, I’m sorry I missed that. I wish I could have been there. I heard nick’s belated birthday party was a blast.
Sharon: It was a really special night. It was a ton of fun.
Tessa: Yeah, nick was definitely in his element just being doted on by his entire family.
Sharon: He’s just always loved gatherings like that, right?
Mariah: It was great that noah was there.
Sharon: Yeah.
Tessa: Yeah, he makes everything a little more fun.
Rey: I’ll be sure to be at the next big celebration, for nick or anyone else.
Sharon: I’m gonna hold you to that.
Rey: Please do.
Sharon: So, what do you girls have on your agenda for today?
Mariah: Well, I don’t have to be at work until this afternoon, so we are going to fenmore’S.
Sharon: You are going shopping?
Mariah: I know. I know. Very out of character, but it’s for a special occasion.
Tessa: Yes, and then we are going to chance’s and abby’S.
Sharon: Oh. Why’s that?
Mariah: We’ve got a little surprise planned.
Adam: Look, you have obviously given this a lot of thought.
Chelsea: I know you like to look at things systematically, but not everything in the universe is logical. Some things just feel righT.
Adam: Chelsea, but we are not one of those things. Okay? I know with every fiber of my being any attempt for us to reunite would be a terrible, terrible mistake. I mean, look at what I drove you to do. You put a man in the hospital. You could have killed him because you wanted to get back at me.
Chelsea: There were extenuating circumstances. I had a brain injury. I wasn’t in my right mind.
Adam: Chelsea, it was a brain injury that I was responsible for. I mean, think about that. Think about how toxic our love was to drive you to that point.
Chelsea: I feel like you’re not focusing on what I’m saying, all of the positive —
Adam: Chelsea, just stop, please. Please just listen to me, okay? I’ve tried to be gentle, and i don’t want to hurt you. But you are holding on to something that is not going to happen. And if you can’t let go, I don’t think that our working relationship can continue.
Chelsea: You would have me pack up my desk at newman media and send me on my way?
Adam: I don’t want to. I want you to work at the company. I want you to thrive. But if our proximity is a problem, I won’t hesitate.
Chelsea: That’s cold.
Adam: I don’t think so. I think it’s just the opposite. It’s the most compassionate, caring thing that I can do for you because I want you to live a rich and a full life. I want you to be the best mother to connor that you can be. But for the last time, you have to stop holding on to the hope that we can get back what we had. It’s not gonna happen. And the sooner that you can come to terms with that, the better off that you’re gonna be. Allergens are little terrors all around us.
Sharon: Another crisis averted. Okay. There. Now you have my full attention.
Rey: Good. So —
Sharon: Um — oh. Duty calls. Hello, stranger. You want the usual today, or you want to mix it up a little bit? Hot chocolate? Hot cider? Maybe a quadruple espresso?
Chance: A hot cider sounds nice. Thank you.
Sharon: Yeah?
Chance: Yeah. My man, how you doing?
Rey: Yeah, I’m alright. I’ll be better once my partner returns to the force.
Chance: Yeah, about that, I, uh — I’ve been meaning to call you. I’m not coming back. I’m gonna go ahead and take an indefinite leave.
Rey: Well, I’m sorry to hear that. Uh, but if that’s what you need to do, I completely support you.
Chance: Thank you. Thank you. Yeah, I’m still — I’m still finding my footing. You know, I missed the pregnancy. I missed the beginning of dominic’s life. And abby and devon and — and everyone else had to take care of him. I mean, all those people have spent more time with my son than I have.
Rey: The good thing is, is that you’re here now. And now you can create your own history with your son. And it won’t be long until dominic understands just how lucky he is to have you for his dad.
Devon: I would like to pursue this with as a little insult as possible.
Amanda: We can do that.
Devon: Good, ’cause I don’t see the reason to pursue this like it’s some kind of attack.
Amanda: Well, that might be a little harder to do. Listen [Sighs] I would love to say that when this is all said and done, we will go back to being friends, grabbing coffee together, going on vacations, but that may not be the case. You need to go into this with your eyes wide open.
Devon: I understand that, but what I’m saying is, if she and chance see the lengths I’m willing to go, they might just want to settle and not get into a court battle.
Amanda: It is equally possible that [Sighs] Their hurt feelings could turn to anger. They can instruct their attorney to go into battle mode.
Devon: All I’ve ever wanted is just for the three of us to be on the same page when it comes to dominic. That’s it.
Amanda: I know.
Devon: And even if we win, I’m gonna do everything I can to make sure they understand we’re on the same team.
Amanda: But if the judge does not rule in our favor, which is still a possibility, you do need to remember that abby and chance — they are gonna control all access to dominic. They may not allow you to see him.
Devon: There’s no way in hell abby’s gonna do that. She’s just — keep me out of his life?
Amanda: Okay. I’ve outlined all of the risks. But I would not have recommended you pursuing this if I thought you were gonna lose. Yes, you signed the initial agreement to be less involved in dom’s life, but I have done my research, and there have been specific circumstances where donors have been awarded rights.
Devon: And are these circumstances similar to mine?
Amanda: Yes. And regardless of what’s happening with chance, you have been a constant presence in dom’s life since the moment he was born. You’re close with the family. You’re like a third parent. So, filing this paperwork with the court will give you the opportunity to make sure that that never changes.
[ Doorbell rings ]
Abby: Come in!
[ Door opens ]
Mariah: Hello?
Abby: Hi!
Tessa: Hi!
Mariah: Hi!
Abby: Hi! Come on in.
[ Door closes ]
[ Laughs ]
Mariah: Hi! Hi, buddy!
Tessa: Hi! Hope you don’t mind us barging in.
Abby: Not at all.
Mariah: We come bearing gifts.
Abby: What’s the occasion?
Tessa: Well, it’s an anniversary of sorts.
Abby: Whose?
Mariah: One year ago today, you asked me to be the surrogate for this amazing, perfect little boy.
Abby: Mm. That is so sweet of you to remember. And we are forever grateful, but, really, you shouldn’t be the one giving us gifts.
Mariah: Oh, come on. We’re so past the “you shouldn’t have” phase, so just open it, alright?
Abby: Okay, okay. Thank you. What is it? Let’s see. It’s so beautifully wrapped.
Mariah: [ Chuckles ]
Abby: Ooh. Aww! [ Laughs ] Look how cute! Oh, my gosh. So cute. Okay, let me guess. Mariah picked out the onesie…
Tessa: Mm-hmm.
Abby: …And tessa picked out everything else. Look how cute.
Tessa: Wow.
Mariah: Yeah.
Tessa: That is spot on. We’re so predictable.
Mariah: Uh, well, we’ve been pretty unpredictable as of late.
Abby: Okay, what’s going on? You two are extra happy today.
Mariah: We made a decision. We’re going to adopt.
Abby: [ Gasps ]
Tessa: Yeah. We talked about it. And then we talked about it some more. And then we had a bunch more conversations.
Mariah: But we are ready to be parents.
Abby: Oh, my gosh! Congratulations! You two are gonna be the best moms! I am so excited for you both.
Mariah: Thank you.
Abby: [ Gasps ] And I am especially happy because, mariah, I have not seen you this happy in a while. I mean, I feel like you’re back to your old self. I hope you don’t mind me saying that.
Mariah: No, no, not at all. I mean, it’s true. I — this is the happiest I have been in a very, very long time.
Tessa: Yeah, it’s been a long road, but we made it through.
Mariah: I just want to thank you, abby, for being so understanding and supportive with everything. I’m just really excited to start a family of our own.
Abby: Ooh, I love you guys so much! Oh, my gosh, group hug!
Mariah: Okay.
Abby: Ahh!
Mariah: Okay, okay, okay.
[ Laughter ]
Tessa: Ohh.
[ Dominic laughs ]
Mariah: Oh, my goodness! Well, I think we have dom’s seal of approval.
Abby: [ Chuckles ]
Mariah: I guess it’s bliss from here on out, right? I hope that’s, um — that’s not too presumptuous. I know chance is dealing with a lot. Is everything okay?
Abby: Yeah, yeah. Um, chance is — is doing better, but, um, have you spoken to devon recently?
Mariah: No. Why?
When you have nausea,
“The young and the restless”
will continue. For the power of a deep clean in
Chance: Chelsea.
Chelsea: Chance. You’re back.
Chance: Yeah. So are you. I was just coming out here to do a little thinking. Looks like you got the same idea. Mind if I join you?
Chelsea: Uh, please. Um, I heard about everything that happened in spain. Are you alright?
Chance: Yeah, yeah, I’m fine. I heard about what you went through while I was in spain.
Chelsea: Mm.
Chance: Are you alright?
Chelsea: Getting better every day.
Chance: That’s good to hear. You know what? I’m not gonna lie. I’m a little surprised you came back to genoa city.
Chelsea: Well, I didn’t really have much choice in the matter. I need to be with connor, and adam wasn’t gonna let me take him far.
Chance: Probably could have fought that.
Chelsea: Maybe. But I don’t want to keep my son from his dad. Adam’s an amazing father. Connor loves him.
Chance: Oh, yeah, it looks like you and adam are in a good place, huh?
Chelsea: Not really.
Chance: Oh. I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to pry.
Chelsea: No, that — you — that’s — you weren’t prying. Adam and I are good. We’re fine. We’re great, actually. For a minute, I thought maybe we’d be able to work things out.
Chance: Really?
Chelsea: Yeah, but it’s — it’s not gonna happen.
Chance: Well, I’m, uh — I’m sorry about that. Adam’s a complicated guy. I mean, you must know that. You know him better than anyone.
Chelsea: Mnh, not as well as sharon knows him. I’m sorry. I’m sorry. That — I’m bringing the mood down. You’re alive! We should be rejoicing!
[ Laughs ] Sorry. Tell me. Dominic — is he just the light of your life?
Chance: Yeah, yeah, yeah, he sure is.
Chelsea: Do you have some pictures?
Chance: Oh, yeah, totally. Let me see here. Oh, you know what? I, uh — I don’t have any photos of him on my phone.
Chelsea: Really?
Chance: Yeah. I don’t know. I — I guess I’ve been letting abby handle that.
Chelsea: Well, you haven’t been home for long. You’re just getting to know your son. That’s way more important than a couple photos.
Abby: Devon wants to make changes to our arrangement. He wants to have a bigger role in dominic’s life.
Tessa: What does that mean?
Abby: He wants dominic to spend more time at his place. He’s grown very attached to him, and he’s having a hard time letting go. This is all — it’s just a very critical time. Chance is home, and, you know, we’re — we’re trying to figure out how to be a family. And now this?
Mariah: You don’t have to explain any more. Obviously, I get it.
Abby: And I know devon was very disappointed when I told him that chance and I wouldn’t be agreeing to what he’s asking, and I haven’t heard from him since. Maybe he needs some space from me. I mean, maybe he just needs to take some time and make peace with it. I mean, that’s what you did, and it worked for you.
Mariah: Yeah. I guess I could try reaching out to him. I mean, he was such a good friend to me when I was struggling.
Abby: I mean, only if you want to. I don’t want you to feel pressured. I — I just — I know how close you are, and I thought you should hear it from me.
Mariah: Yeah. I’ll think about it.
Abby: [ Sighs ]
Devon: I have to do right by dominic. And I — I hope that things don’t get ugly in court. But, um…you know, I just — I want to handle this in the most civil way possible.
Amanda: Of course. We’ll try.
Devon: And if things don’t work out that way, I am not gonna change my mind. I still want to move forward.
Amanda: We need to make a plan for how we proceed.
Devon: Absolutely.
Amanda: [ Sighs ] I would like you to take a step back. Just let me handle this with abby and chance’s lawyers from here on out. It’s less personal that way, you know, just two lawyers talking.
Devon: Well, I disagree ’cause this is personal. It’s very personal, and I think that I need to be the one to look at abby and tell her what’s about to happen. She needs to hear it from me. (Judge) it’s delightful.
Sharon: [ Sighs ] You have the patience of a saint.
Rey: Saint rey. Yeah, that’s — that’s got a ring to it.
Sharon: I’ve been wanting to hear what you have to say to me. I promise I won’t let anyone or anything interrupt us.
Rey: [ Chuckles ] Thank you. That’s — that’s kind of what i wanted to talk to you about.
Sharon: What do you mean?
Rey: I would like to spend some quality time alone with my wife. I want to take you out. I want to wine and dine you. I want to stare into those beautiful eyes and tell you how wonderful you are.
Sharon: Well, that sounds really nice. What did you have in mind?
Rey: Well, I was thinking we could go to that french bistro you’ve been talking about.
Sharon: Trs magnifique!
Rey: [ Chuckles ] Then we could check out the new exhibit at the museum.
Sharon: I have wanted to do that.
Rey: I know. I listen.
Sharon: You do, don’t you? Okay, well, that sounds nice. When did you want to go on this date?
Rey: I want to go right now. Let’s go.
Sharon: Oh. Okay. Let me just wrap up a few things in the office first, and then we can leave for our…
Rey: Perfect.
Sharon: …Special quality time alone together.
Rey: And I will be right here waiting with great anticipation.
Sharon: You’re the best. You know that?
Rey: [ Sighs ]
[ Doorbell rings ]
Devon: Hey.
Abby: Hi.
Devon: How you doing?
Abby: I’m fine.
Devon: Sorry to just show up like this.
Abby: No, you know you’re welcome here anytime. Um, come on in.
Devon: Thanks.
Amanda: I hope we’re not interrupting.
Abby: Uh, no. Um, dominic is with louise. He’s getting a bath and a bottle. Please, uh, let’s sit down. I was using this time to get some work done.
Devon: Is chance here?
Abby: No, he’s out running some errands, but he should be back soon. Do I need to call him?
Devon: Um…no. No, I don’t think it’s necessary. Um…abby, I just want you to hear me out before you respond to what I’m gonna say to you.
Abby: So this is about dominic?
Devon: It is, and I think that you should —
Abby: Okay, hold on. Hold on. Um, I think we should wait to have this conversation until my husband is here.
Devon: It’s not necessary —
Abby: Devon, please. You have amanda here, your girlfriend and your lawyer.
Devon: Okay. Alright. Yeah, let’s wait for chance.
Chelsea: The first six months, a year are hard on everyone. But once children start talking and expressing themselves, it’s magical. I swear, connor gets more interesting every day.
Chance: You sure do love being a parent, don’t you?
Chelsea: I do. I do. It’s the most rewarding thing I’ve ever done. Um — oh, you know what? We’ve been talking so much, i just realized I never ordered my coffee.
Chance: Don’t let me stop you.
Chelsea: Um… it was good to see you, chance. Good luck with everything.
Rey: Hey. I was about to pour myself a cup of coffee. You want one?
Chelsea: Oh, thanks, rey, um, but can you make it to go, please? I have to get out of here.
Rey: You okay?
Chelsea: I’m fine.
Rey: To go it is.
[ Metal clanking ]
Chance: Chelsea didn’t say much, but I definitely got the gist of what’s going on between you two.
Adam: Ah. Well, I’m surprised she said anything. Usually she’s pretty buttoned up about her personal life, especially with people she doesn’t know that well.
Chance: Well, I don’t think she meant to. We were just kind of talking. It slipped out.
Adam: Well, I’m sorry that she is hurting, but hopefully we can finally move on and put the past behind us.
[ Cellphone pings ]
Chance: You know what, man? I, uh — I got to run. I’m sorry. But there’s been something on my mind lately, you know?
Adam: Yeah? What’s that?
Chance: Life is short, man. It’s unpredictable. And I know you and chelsea have been to hell and back. But you obviously still care for each other. You got that strong connection through your son. That’s important, man. That’s a good thing. You 100% sure it’s over? ‘Cause I’m telling you, adam, if you got any kind of that old love left for her…
Adam: I don’T.
Do I need to pretreat my
laundry?
Adam: [ Sighs ]
[ Sighs ]
[ Bottle thuds ]
[ Stopper clinks ]
[ Sighs ]
Chelsea: [ Breathing heavily ]
[ Sniffles ]
[ Sighs ]
[ Sniffles ]
[ Breathing heavily ]
[ Sniffles ]
[ Gasps ]
[ Screams ]
[ Breathing heavily ]
[ Sniffles ]
Tessa: I’m thinking about getting the avocado and quinoa salad. What about you? Mariah?
Mariah: What? I’m sorry.
[ Chuckles ]
Tessa: What do you want to eat?
Mariah: Um… uh, just the usual, I guess.
Tessa: Ah, okay. So, the old hiking boot with cheese on rye?
Mariah: Sure. Yeah, that.
Tessa: Okay. What’s going on? Your head’s in the clouds.
Mariah: What? I just told you what I wanted.
Tessa: Yeah, you were about to order a shoe sandwich.
Mariah: I guess that doesn’t sound that bad?
[ Both laugh ]
Tessa: Okay. Are you thinking about devon and abby?
Mariah: Yes! I’m worried. I love them both so much.
Tessa: They’ll figure it out.
Mariah: I also can’t ignore the irony in this situation. I mean, I’ve taken a healthy step back from dominic and wanting to be a part of his life every single second, and now devon is holding on tighter. I mean, he’s got a really special connection with that boy, and…he doesn’t want to let go.
Tessa: [ Sighs ] Ugh, I just feel so bad for him. But I also feel really bad for abby and chance, too.
Mariah: They thought that they had everything planned. And now this situation is just so much more complicated than anyone expected.
Tessa: What do you want to do about it?
Mariah: I think I’m gonna reach out to devon. I just want to help in any way I can.
[ Door opens and closes ]
Chance: Hey.
Devon: Hey, man.
Chance: What’d I miss?
Abby: Well, um, devon has something that he’d like to say to us he clearly thought required the presence of amanda, his lawyer, um, and I told him that he should wait until you got here.
Chance: Alright. Go ahead.
Devon: Um… this isn’t gonna be easy for you guys to hear. Um…but I’m hoping that you’ll understand where I’m coming from.
Chance: Why don’t you say it and we’ll let you know?
Devon: Chance, I’ve been given a whole lot of thought to what you shared with me the last time we spoke. And I certainly didn’t want to take this next step, but i believe that I’m doing what’s best for dominic and myself. So I’m taking legal action to get shared custody. Amanda is gonna be contacting christine and filing the necessary paperwork pretty soon, but I just wanted to be the one to tell you guys first.
Abby: You are taking us to court to spend more time with our son? How could you do this to us?
Next week on
“the young and the restless”…
Abby: You don’t think that chance and I are capable of being good parents to dominic.
Devon: I’m concerned about his psychological state right now and how that might affect dominic.
Victoria: Our father might not always have your back.
Adam: Well, don’t you get too confident that I’ll always have yours…or ashland’S.
Mariah: Are you doing what I think you’re doing?
