[Airplane whooshing]

Brooke: I’m serious, sheila. I’m going to do everything in my power to keep you away from our family and ridge will agree with me that I’ll make damn sure he knows how crazy you are.

Deacon: Morning sunshine.

Carter: Paris, there’s nothing wrong with wanting to be single and playing the field a bit. It won’t work, you know? Trying to lose yourself in work. Avoiding the elephant in the room. We need to talk about what happened last night. You, you headed out so quickly last night we didn’t get a chance to talk.

Paris: About?

Carter: The kiss, we kissed, paris.

Paris: Right. About that.

[Airplane whooshing]

Brooke: Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god. What are you in? What are you doing here?

Deacon: This isn’t what it looks like.

Brooke: You were in my bed!

Deacon: No, no, I was on your bed, okay? I was, I was above the sheets.

Brooke: What are you even doing here?

Deacon: You were too tired, too tired to walk, so I put you to bed, you fell right asleep. Listen to me. Nothing happened, nothing.

Brooke: Oh god. My head, my head is pounding. Oh my god, I was drinking last night. Psoriatic arthritis, made my joints stiff,…

Paris: But isn’t that what people do on new year’s eve? They kiss.

Carter: Maybe, I don’t know.

Paris: Wait, don’t tell me you haven’t been kissed on new year’s eve before?

Carter: Paris.

Paris: Okay, I’ll stop, you’re right.

Carter: About what? I’m just asking.

Paris: Exactly, you’re right to question what happened, I’m honestly doing the same thing. Going back to last night, before I showed up here, I just didn’t want to hurt zende, things were moving way too fast. A proposal?

Carter: Yeah I, I understand.

Paris: I know you do. And that’s what makes you so incredible, because you genuinely care. You’re one of the most caring people I’ve ever met. It blows me away, when I told brooke about you and quinn, I expected you to make my life miserable here at forrester, but somehow it seemed like you supported me more than before. I helped blow your life up, and you still cared about me.

Carter: You’re being honest, I admire that about you.

Paris: I admire that about you too.

Brooke: Okay,

Deacon: If no one’s here, why are we whispering?

[Brooke shushing]

Brooke: Oh my god, it’s ridge, he’s on his way home. Okay, okay. Don’t just stand there help me clean this up! I don’t understand what happened, I was drinking non-alcoholic champagne last night, why was I feeling so buzzed?

Deacon: You were definitely feeling something, do you remember doing the vodka shots?

Brooke: Why didn’t you stop me?

Deacon: I tried. You said you didn’t want to drink alone, brooke.

Brooke: Oh my god, I was drinking, and we were in bed together.

Deacon: I was on the bed, nothing happened.

Brooke: Oh yeah, well that doesn’t make me feel any better, deacon. I was still hanging out with the man that my husband despises more than anything, and I relapsed. And we kissed. Oh my god, we kissed.

Deacon: We did.

Brooke: Ah, you said nothing happened.

Deacon: It was nothing.

Brooke: You can’t be here anymore, you can’t come here, deacon.

Deacon: What?

Brooke: I, I can’t see you.

Deacon: Brooke, I know things went off the rails last night, I mean, but come on, let’s not overreact here. Look, I get this may not be the best time to tell you this, but I was a complete gentleman, alright? I behaved. I even tucked you in.

Brooke: We were still in bed together.

Deacon: I was on top of the bed, I don’t know what happened, I guess I must have fallen asleep next to you. Look, I get it, I get that you’re freaked out, especially about the drinking, but we didn’t do anything wrong.

Brooke: I did, and you are going to be a constant reminder of everything that happened last night.

[Car pulling in] Oh my god, oh my– that’s ridge pulling in, you got to get out of here, you’ve got to go, you can’t come back, deacon, ever. Please, just go.

Deacon: All right.

[Door opening]

Ridge: Hey. I couldn’t wait to get off that plane, I am so sorry I missed new year’S.

Brooke: Oh no, gosh, fine.

Ridge: Look at you.

Ridge: God, I missed you.

Carter: Look, uh, I understand that last night got a little crazy, you avoided a proposal that you weren’t ready for.

Paris: Thanks to you, you always have my back.

Carter: Well, that’s true.

Paris: Look, I really didn’t expect us to kiss.

Carter: Yeah, me either, and I wouldn’t have told you about zende if I knew that was going to happen. Zende’s a friend and so are you, and I really don’t want to complicate things.

Malcolm: Here you go.

Deacon: Malcolm, you are my hero.

Malcom: No problem.

Deacon: Mm hm. Brooke, have you been drinking?

Brooke: My god, deacon, no, non-alcoholic, it says right there, can you read?

Deacon: Hey, malcolm, do you happen to have one of those non-alcoholic champagne bottles, the one you took over to brooke logan’s?

Malcolm: Uh, yeah, let me, actually, yeah, right here.

Deacon: Cool, thanks.

Malcolm: Of course.

Man: Hey, do you know where the bartender went?

Deacon: Uh, he’ll be right back.

Man: Alright. Thank you.

Deacon:Sure.

Sheila: Oh, I didn’t realize the new year’s festivities were still going on.

Deacon: We are not supposed to be seeing each other.

Sheila: Yeah, well, brooke can tell you what to do, but she can’t tell me what to do. And the last time i checked this is a public establishment, looks like i couldn’t have come any sooner, you’re already drinking champagne.

Deacon: This is, uh, non-alcoholic, just thought I’d try it.

Sheila: Hm, and?

Deacon: I don’t know, it’s kind of like a veggie burger, you know? Similar, but definitely not the same?

Sheila: Okay, so, what? Did you get to see brooke last night?

Deacon: I did.

Sheila: Hm, did you guys bring in the new year’s with champagne?

Deacon: This stuff, yeah, sort of, hope and liam and the kids were there.

Sheila: And ridge?

Deacon: Business trip.

Sheila: Oh, well lucky you. You got to be with the family, with brooke.

Deacon: Yeah, it was nice.

Sheila: I’ll bet it was, I’m sure all that was needed was for brooke to loosen up and let her hair down, am I right?

Ridge: What a night. The prince was really happy. He looked good, his wife, we put her in this grey number, and right before the party started, she ripped something, and I wish I would have had angelo here, but no, it was me, trying to fix things, but it was okay. It worked out, they looked beautiful.

Brooke: I’m glad it went well.

Ridge: It did. They’re just good people, you know? They’re just so appreciative. I know what he likes, he likes…

Brooke: Why was i feeling so buzzed?

Deacon: You were definitely feeling something. Do you remember the vodka shots?

Brooke: Why didn’t you stop me?

Deacon: I tried, you said you didn’t want to drink alone. Brooke…

Brooke: Oh my god, I was drinking, and we were in bed together.

Deacon: I was on the bed, nothing happened.

Brooke: Yeah, well that doesn’t make me feel any better, deacon. I was still hanging out with the man my husband despises more than anything. And I relapsed, and we kissed. Oh my god, we kissed.

Ridge: Just missing my beautiful wife.

Brooke: Oh

[Awkward laughter] Ridge, that’s nice.

Ridge: I’m sorry.

Brooke: Nah, it’s okay.

Ridge: Listen, if I had known that I wouldn’t make it back, I never would have left.

Brooke: You have nothing to apologize for. I just love you so much.

Ridge: I love you. What’s going on?

Brooke: I just, you know, I don’t like it when you’re not here, especially with everything that’s been going on this past year. I just love you, that’s all. Better skin from your body wash?

Sheila: Okay, okay, “sheila, what did you do for new year’s eve?” Deacon, thank you so much for asking me. I went to see taylor. I wanted to thank her for convincing steffy to let me come over for christmas eve. It was just so kind of her, I would never imagine that she would ever stick up for me.

Deacon: You mean after you shot her? Yeah, no, I’d say taylor’s pretty terrific.

Sheila: Okay, you know, you’re better when we talk about you, so it must have been a really great night, right? Especially since ridge wasn’t there to storm in.

Deacon: What’s with all the questions?

Sheila: You know what? Why, why are you so edgy? What are you? Hungover?

Deacon: It was new year’s eve.

Sheila: So? A little gathering at brooke’s turns into a little party?

Deacon: Can you just stop the interrogation?

Sheila: Alright, must not have been all roses. Okay? I just thought that spending time with brooke is what you really wanted to do.

Deacon: I went to see my daughter.

Sheila: What’s wrong with you today? I mean, if last night didn’t live up to your expectations you could have come to celebrate with me, oh! No. Wait, you couldn’t because your crush, brooke, wouldn’t let you see me. You’re a grown man, deacon, are you really going to let her tell you what to do?

Deacon: If it means seeing my daughter.

Sheila: Brooke’s bad news, she always has been. You know, she always insists on putting her nose where it doesn’t belong, and that is infuriatinG. Keeping me away from finn, and hayes, telling you that you can’t see me anymore? Okay, what happened last night? Really?

Deacon: Nothing.

Brooke: I just love you so much, you know? I never want you to go away on the holidays ever again.

Ridge: I won’T. I promise. You know what I think? I think we have a great year ahead of us.

Brooke: I hope so.

Ridge: Yeah, I said think, I don’t mean think, I know we will, you know why? Because we have each other. You know, we don’t always agree on things, but as long as we’re together we can face anything. We can face sheila, deacon, it doesn’t matter. Hey, happy new year.

Brooke: Happy new year.

Ridge: So, can I ask you a question?

Brooke: Yeah?

Ridge: What’s, uh, what’s going on under that?

Brooke: Oh, yeah, that was, you know, if you got home in time for new years, it was a little surprise.

Ridge: I’m here now. So maybe the thing to do is for me to take a shower, and then we’ll see what’s going on under that thing.

Brooke: Yeah, I like that.

Ridge: I’ll be back.

Brooke: Mmm, vodka, the real thing.

Deacon: Alright brooke , this is not a good idea.

Brooke: Knock one back with me, buddy old pal.

[Slurring laughter]

Deacon: I’ve never worn bell bottoms in my entire life!

Brooke: You just strut down

Deacon: Oh stop it , I’ve never walked like that either, come on.

Brooke: To finish the look.

Deacon: Now that is a look. Oh, you’re pouring another one already, huh?

Brooke: Yes, of course, of course, it’s new years eve.

Sheila: No, no, no, no, I couldn’t push you too hard deacon, I don’t want you getting suspicious, but drinking non-alcoholic champagne to test it, why else? Because you and brooke indulge, and now you’re questioning what happened last night. Oh, brooke, brooke, brooke, your world is about to turn into shambles, and it couldn’t happen to a more deserving person.

[Laughter]

[Sobbing]

Brooke: What did I do? What did I do? What happened? Why did I drink again?
