Bill: Are you going to tell me what’s going on or are you just going to keep pushing that pasta around?
Liam: No, no, I will. I just, just promise me, you’re just going to listen. Right?
Bill: Who’s a better listener than I am? Oh, okay, fine. Fine. Lo– seriously, I’m glad you reached out. I’ve been concerned.
Liam: Yeah, well, so have I, that’s kind of why I wanted to see you. I’ve been trying to be supportive, right? And by that, I mean protective. But this, this situation is not getting any easier, and I don’t know what to do. Frankly, I’m worried about hope.
Hope: Can I make you tea or something?
Brooke: No, honey, I don’t need anything. I’m fine.
Hope: Well, you have every right to be upset with ridge but he shouldn’t have stormed out like that.
Brooke: He’s just frustrated. And to be honest, so am I.
Hope: Alright well, still, walking away doesn’t solve anything. And besides, it’s not like you were defying ridge. If anything, you were defending your daughter.
Ridge: Hey, steffy, did you just say that my wife wasn’t worth it?
Thomas: Hold on a second. So you demanded that hope leave the property, and, and, and, brooke said she has to stay?
Ridge: Yeah. She won’t discuss it.
Thomas: Okay, well, guess what, she can’t get upset at you for leaving.
Ridge: I don’t, I don’t care if she’s upset with me, I’m upset. Cause I’m fighting this battle on my own.
Steffy: No, you’re not. That’s what I’ve been telling you. You have another family, dad, a family who loves and supports you. And it’s not just the two of us. It’s mom, too.
Bill: You concerned about hope? Let me guess because of that scumbag, deacon.
Liam: Yeah. A.K.A. Her dad, A.K.A, the guy she just decided to invite to be a grandfather to our children.
Bill: W-w-what, grandpa deacon? Absolutely not.
Liam: Well, that’s exactly what I said. But it doesn’t matter. Hope is, it’s like she’s determined to just absorb this guy into all of our lives, and there’s nothing I can say or do to change her mind.
Hope: If ridge is going to make it impossible for me to see my dad, then as much as I don’t want to say it. Maybe we should move out.
Brooke: No, honey, I don’t want you going anywhere.
Hope: Mom, you know how much I love it here. I love this cabin. I love that the kids get to be close to their grandparents, but I also don’t want to be surrounded by constant bickering and stress.
Brooke: Honey, please just let me deal with ridge. Okay? I will get through to him. I just, I don’t want this to become an issue for you, and I hate that my dad is already becoming a problem for your marriage.
Deacon: I don’t want my daughter feeling terrible about anything.
Ridge: Deacon is the problem. Brooke and I we’ve been in a great place for a long time. He shows up and–
Thomas: He is coming between the two of you.
Ridge: I don’t know. I don’t know I, yeah, I, maybe I don’t know. We’re out of sync.
Thomas: We can see that.
Steffy: You haven’t been this stressed in a while.
Ridge: Well, because i thought we left deacon behind us long time ago.
Steffy: You still haven’t answered the question, all this angst and frustration. Is brooke really worth it?
Bill: Deacon isn’t a stranger to hope. She can’t have any illusions about it.
Liam: She’s not going to hold his past against him.
Bill: Alright, fine if she wants to give sharpe another opportunity to blow up her life, have at it. But, but don’t bring him into your home. Introduce him to your kids. She already has. Dammit, liam. You give him an opening, he will exploit it.
Liam: So, okay, so do you see why I’m so freaked out about this? Every time I try to confront hope with it she digs her heels in even more because to her, it’s evidence that we’re not treating deacon fairly.
Bill: And who do you suppose put that idea in her head?
Liam: Exactly, exactly. The guy is trying to polarize us. Now it hasn’t worked yet, and I hope it won’T. But the longer this goes on…
Bill: Okay, listen, I think what you’re trying to say without saying it is that you want me to talk to him.
Liam: No, no, no.
Bill: Listen. Listen to me. I know deacon. He is not somebody that hope can trust.
Liam: But he’s her father. And to, and to hope, that just trumps everything else.
Bill: And you’re her husband. That’s got to count for something.
Liam: Of course it, course it counts for something. Yes, we love each other, we support each other 100%, but I just can’t tell her what to do. Hope makes up her own mind.
Bill: That doesn’t mean that you have to agree with it. Now, I know you don’t want to argue with your wife.
Liam: No, I really don’t want to argue with my wife. But we’ve been doing a lot of that lately.
Bill: What are you saying, liam? This is putting a strain on your marriage? You and hope are in trouble?
Deacon: I wasn’t trying to eavesdrop.
Hope: No, no. It’s fine, dad. Besides, it’s something you should know because we should all be open with each other.
Deacon: Well, if what I heard is correct, I’m sorry. Look, I know my being here is causing problems for both of you. I hate it.
Hope: Well, I’m not blaming you for that.
Brooke: I don’t want anybody worrying about ridge and me. I’m concerned about you and liam.
Hope: Yeah, but mom, you and ridge are at odds about this. I mean, ridge basically confronted me and told me that if I want to allow you in my life that my family and I need to find another place to live.
Deacon: Wow. Really?
Hope: Yes.
Ridge: I can’t have a man that I despise come over here and pretend that this is his house. I think it’s affecting& my relationship with brooke, and he’s come between us before. I’m not going to let it happen again. I will fight tooth and nail for this marriage. You want to be with him? I want to keep my sanity. So if you need to leave, leave and I know this won’t be easy.
Hope: Ridge, what you are asking– oh honey, I’m not asking. I’m telling you if you want to be with your dad, it won’t be here. Grab your kids, grab your husband, grab your stuff and move on.
Deacon: I mean, that seems kind of harsh, even for ridge, throwing you out of your own house. You’re not going to do that, right? You’re not going to leave.
Hope: Well, I’m, I am considering it.
Brooke: No, I won’t allow it. I told hope and I told ridge that my daughter isn’t going anywhere.
Deacon: Good, I’m glad to hear that, but something tells me that ridge isn’t feeling quite so positive.
Ridge: I don’t blame brooke for what’s happening.
Steffy: The other day, you were worried that deacon might come back not only for hope, but for brooke too.
Ridge: It’s not her fault, either.
Thomas: Okay, but this is causing you a lot of stress.
Steffy: Yeah, and I think that’s like the normal in your relationship.
Ridge: I, what did I just, i just told you, we’re doing well, we’re doing really well.
Steffy: Yes, sometimes you are. But when I look at your history, all I see is brooke’s drama. You can’t ignore that. I know you’re about to say all marriages have its challenges, but…
Thomas: You know what, I mean, brooke’s is not the only one to start a whole family crisis.
Steffy: But you can’t say this isn’t just about deacon. Like, look, look at brooke. Deacon’s presence is a reminder of brooke’s worst scandal ever.
Ridge: Alright, and I’m sure she doesn’t want to be reminded of that either.
Thomas: She wouldn’t have to if she just got rid of deacon.
Steffy: She’s not willing to do that.
Ridge: No, she’s not. Alright. In the beginning, I thought this was all about hope, about what she needs. But now. It seems like brooke is just inviting this guy back into her life with open arms. I can’t have it, can’t have it.
Find your rhythm.
Liam: Man, hope and I, we’re going, we’re going to be fine. It’s just… this whole thing has been a lot more difficult than it should be.
Bill: Shouldn’t be difficult. I mean, this is deacon sharpe talking about. Everyone, I mean, everyone knows he can’t be trusted.
Liam: Yeah, well, I start talking like that and then my marriage really is in trouble.
Bill: I’m not wrong, liam.
Liam: No, you’re not wrong. And neither am I. But here’s the thing. Hope has been waiting her whole life for this guy to show up and do right by her.
Bill: She can wait 10 lifetimes it ain’t going to happen. Look, I get it. You don’t want to tell your wife that she can’t have a relationship with her own father. Yeah, I’m sure that hope may have expressed the same to you about me on a few occasions. But here’s the bottom line. You pledged your life to hope. You made a promise to prioritize her and the children. So in every situation, no matter what, that’s your answer. You made a promise, son. Keep it. Do whatever you have to do to keep hope and the children away from deacon.
Steffy: We’re not trying to undermine your marriage.
Thomas: Or make you defensive.
Steffy: That’s the last thing we want. We are on your side, but. It seems like brooke isn’t and I know you’re trying to look out for brooke and for hope.
Ridge: I can see what’s happening. You can see what’s happening, why can’t they?
Steffy: I don’t think they want to. This isn’t just about hope. This is about brooke too, her history with deacon. And I know that history disturbs you.
Ridge: I think it disturbs all of us. But that guy is still carrying a torch for her. And then. She knows how dangerous he is, she can’t let him in.
Thomas: It seems like she already has.
Steffy: I’m sorry. I understand why this is hard for you and we’re not trying to make it harder, but I can see why you want deacon to stay far away from brooke as possible.
Deacon: Guessing ridge blew a gasket when you told him hope wasn’t leaving.
Brooke: Ridge and I don’t want to argue about this.
Deacon: Sure. But this is your house. I mean, he has no right to tell hope to leave.
Brooke: Well, ridge and i are married, we’re in love. We share our family, we share our lives. We share this house. But, yes, hope is my daughter.
Deacon: Our daughter, and come on. He should have known that you weren’t going to allow him to bully hope and her family out the door.
Brooke: Ridge is just frustrated. He sees you and hope getting closer and he wonders what that means for the future, for our lives.
Deacon: So what, so his, his response is to threaten eviction?
Brooke: Well, that’s just not going to happen. Because I love having you here, sweetheart. You, liam, the children. I love hearing the laughter coming from this home. I love seeing the kids playing in the garden. You know, they’re going to grow up and they’re going to remember this, how we spent all this time together. Means a lot to me, and I don’t want to let it go. It’s too important to me.
Deacon: Wow, that’s, that’s what I’m talking about. That’s exactly the kind of connection I want to have with you, hope with our granddaughter, beth, even with douglas. Look, ridge can think whatever he wants to. Okay, but I want you to know that this is the reason that I came back. Brooke, the way you love having your family around here, the, the bond. I want that. I want to feel that joy, I want to make those memories. I want to, I want to be a family.
I’m jimmy dean and
thank you very much
Liam: You know it means a lot being able to come to you with this. And the funny thing about this whole situation, I’ve never been more grateful to have you in my life. Problem is hope feels the same way about deacon and I, I’ll never be able to trust him.
Hope: Well, I have faith that you are a changed man and that you are going to do whatever it takes to turn your life around.
Deacon: And I’m determined to prove it to you. Your support is all the encouragement I need. Brooke, I just wish that my being here was as good for you.
Hope: Well, I want you to be here. And that’s why I started writing you back when you were in prison. I wanted to rebuild my relationship with you. I want to see you. I want to have you in my life.
Brooke: I’m not going to let anybody blame this on you, sweetheart.
Hope: Well, that’s just the thing. There shouldn’t be any blame. This, why are we treating this like it’s a bad thing, because it’s not. You, dad, you are not a bad person. You’re not a danger and you’re not a threat. You are my dad. And anyone who is questioning my judgment, they’re just going to have to find a way to accept that.
Deacon: Or, they’re going to at least have to understand it. I mean, you’re my kid. It’s only natural that we’d want to get to know each other. Brooke, what you’ve done? I mean, it’s amazing sticking up for hope, accepting our relationship together. It means more to me than I can put into words.
Steffy: I don’t mean to drag brooke, but her past with deacon is shady. You don’t want to dwell on it. It’s ugly. It’s painful. Brooke had an affair with her daughter’s husband.
Ridge: And they’ve been trying to fix their relationship for a long time.
Thomas: Right. Um, how often does bridget actually come home?
Ridge: It’s not, don’t do that, she’s, she’s busy, she has a family of her own,
Steffy: Or maybe she doesn’t want to face it because her mom had a child with her husband?
Ridge: A long time ago.
Steffy: Well, now deacon’s back, and it’s unavoidable.
Thomas: Okay, look. We get that this is intense and very personal for you.
Steffy: We understand that. Okay, dad, you weren’t with brooke at the time, you were with mom.
Thomas: And look, I have great memories from that time. Obviously, not how it ended, but us as a family.
Steffy: Yeah, unfortunately, brooke took you away.
Ridge: And there it is. You’ve never forgiven her for that at all, have you?
Steffy: Honestly, no. I’ll always be angry that mom lost you to brooke.
Thomas: Me too. Okay, but that’s not where we’re coming from right now. You’re worried about brooke, but we’re worried about you. We don’t want you dealing with this, but you can’t keep pointing the finger at deacon. He’s not just the problem. Brooke’s fueling the fire too, mom never did that to you. She was such a good, good human being. She always wanted what’s best for you. I always thought we were going to win, but here we are, tying ourselves in knots because the logan women want what they want. When is it going to stop? What are you going to stop justifying this?
Ridge: I’m not justifying anything.
Thomas: You’re worried about what could happen if deacon sticks around.
Steffy: And you wouldn’t be if you had faith in your wife. Aren’t you tired of this? Aren’t you tired of brooke’s drama? What are you going to be fed up and come home? You have a family here. Me, thomas, mom, we love you and we don’t want to see you hurting. We miss our family, dad. I miss you.
