Billy: Thank you.

[ Sighs ] Don’t worry, nick. We don’t have to get into victoria’s impending nuptials like we did the other day. I’ll keep my opinions to myself.

Nick: No, billy. Actually, you made some very good points. I haven’t stopped thinking about them.

Billy: Pardon me?

Nick: If it isn’t just jealousy on your part about victoria marrying a guy like ashland locke and you truly are concerned, I want to know why. What is it you’re worried about?

Billy: Besides the obvious, that ashland locke is probably gonna die and victoria’s gonna get her heart broken, what do any of us really know about that man?

Ashland: Well, jack just texted. He and harrison arrived safely in milan.

Victoria: That’s wonderful.

Ashland: “Harrison is having a blast. Kyle and summer now are house-hunting in basiglio so he’ll have a nice, big yard to play in.”

Victoria: Oh, my goodness. That is such a fabulous area. I mean, the newman apartment is also lovely, but it’s not really ideal for a family of three.

Ashland: Yeah. Well, at least we are trying to make the transition as easy as possible for harrison.

Victoria: I think that spending time with him before and during the wedding week is gonna make it even more special.

Ashland: You are so sweet, trying to make that happen for me.

Victoria: He’s a wonderful boy. I know you’re gonna miss him.

Ashland: I already do. How are your plans progressing?

Victoria: Great. Uh, mom and I are gonna grab some coffee before heading to the office and continue to discuss all of the plans.

Ashland: It’s great to see you enjoying the process. I want this to be the most perfect day that you could ever imagine.

Victoria: Aww. How are you feeling?

Ashland: Pretty decent, actually. Is there a reason why you’re asking?

Victoria: Well, I — I heard you get up last night, so I went to check on you, and you were working. I just didn’t want to interrupt.

Ashland: Well, when I went to bed, things were kind of rough. I couldn’t sleep, so I got some stuff accomplished, and then i had a good night’s sleep and i woke up feeling a lot stronger this morning.

Victoria: Good. Yeah. There’s nothing like the healing power of burning the midnight oil.

Ashland: I think the healing comes from being focused on something outside of myself, you know, working on a plan, especially one of this magnitude that has so much meaning for us both.

Victoria: Are you talking about the —

Ashland: The merger, of course, yeah. I am pleased to announce that everything is all set for the official launch of our conglomerate in one month.

Victoria: That soon?

Ashland: Newman/locke is becoming a reality. And I have something to show you that I think you’re going to like.

Sally: [ Scoffs ]

Adam: Good morning, sally.

Sally: Yeah? What’s good about it?

Adam: Wow, that’s some mood you’re in.

Sally: [ Sighs ] Sorry. I didn’t mean to snap at you. I know you’re my boss and I’m supposed to make an effort to be charming and all, but I am just so mad right now, I could scream.

Adam: Mm. Do you want to tell me about it?

Sally: [ Sighs ]

Adam: Or, uh, should I mind my own business and keep walking?

Sally: Phyllis — the most vindictive woman on the face of the earth — just sent me a massive bill for extras at her second-rate hotel.

Adam: What, like, uh, mini-bar charges and movie rentals?

Sally: Like towels.

Adam: Seriously?

Sally: Yeah. She goes on and on about what a fine establishment it is and then adds up all the times that I asked housekeeping for — you know what? Just forget it. The whole thing is petty. Really. She threw me out without a warning, and then she just couldn’t resist sticking it to me one last time. It’s just mean, really, and nasty and — and… oh, you think this whole thing’s funny? Mm-hmm. Okay. Yeah. Well, no one’s gonna be laughing when I find a way to pay her back for ruining my life.

Adam: And how did phyllis do that? No, really, I’m curious because, from where I’m standing, you’re much better off exactly where you are.

Victor: Ashland locke, l-o-c-k-E.

The businessman from back east.

Victor: That’s right. I want you to go all the way back through the past and find out anything you can about him, alright? And this is a priority, second only to finding out what happened to mariah copeland.

You want to know all the stuff that doesn’t show up in press releases.

Victor: You bet. You find out anything you can.

What should I focus on? What is it you’re hoping to find?

Nikki: My question exactly.

provided by…

Adam: You told me that you thought you finally found your niche at newman media, you know, a place where your talents are appreciated, free from this town’s rampant hypocrisy. None of that would have happened without phyllis. So maybe you ought to be thanking her.

Sally: Yeah. Maybe. When hell freezes over.

Adam: Okay, look. I get why you are angry, and i understand your impulse to exact some revenge. I mean, I have spent years trying to get even with damn near everyone, which has got me a criminal record, a ton of bad press, and a slew of mortal enemies. So, learn from my experience. Whatever you do to phyllis will be a waste of time and energy. Besides, payback is never as satisfying as you’ll envision it’ll be.

Sally: So, your advice is to become a new and improved version of myself like you?

Adam: [ Chuckles ] Look, you didn’t leave town when everybody turned on you, and that says a lot about who you are, sally, how strong and determined you are.

Sally: Or stupid.

Adam: If there is one thing that you are not, it’s stupid. So take all this resentment and turn it into something positive, like putting newman media on the fashion world’s radar and making a name for yourself. Instead of giving the haters ammo, I mean, how much more satisfying will it be to force them to watch your meteoric rise?

Sally: How’s that working out for you?

Adam: A lot better than doing things the old way. Trust me.

Sally: Everybody tells me that might be a mistake.

Adam: Mm-hmm. It’s another advantage of taking the high road. People don’t know what to expect. Keeps them guessing.

Nikki: I know you have questions about ashland.

Victor: Yeah, but don’t you? By the way, it was nicholas who brought up questions about him in the first place.

Nikki: Victor, you’ve finally made peace with victoria, which was no easy feat. Now, if you insist on delving into her fiancé’s past, how do you think that’s gonna make her feel when she finds out? I don’t understand why you want to look for something nefarious now.

Victor: Sweetheart, I like the guy. I don’t want to do anything to upset their relationship. However, I don’t want there to be any surprises.

Nikki: I don’t know. I don’t know what to say to you.

Victor: Sweetheart, ashland locke built his empire the way I did, okay? He was ruthless. He wears that like a badge of honor. He squashed a lot of people.

Nikki: And now he has come face to face with his own mortality. Don’t you think that affects somebody like that? I mean, look at the difficult choices me made for his son.

Victor: I’m not questioning about what kind of a father he is.

Nikki: I think that he loves victoria very much, just like she loves him. But if you insist on going through with this investigation, she’s going to think that you don’t trust her judgment.

Victor: Sweetheart, I’m a father who loves his daughter. I want her to be happy.

Nikki: Well, darling, what you’re doing now will make her extremely unhappy. Don’t you see that? Every time you second-guess your child, it damages your relationship with them a little bit more.

Victor: Listen, all I can tell you is that my investigation hopefully turns up nothing that is shady.

Nikki: Well, I don’t see how it could. He has been in the public eye for many years, facing a lot of media scrutiny.

Victor: Doesn’t mean a damn thing. There may be something in his past that we don’t like, and i don’t want victoria to go into this marriage without knowing everything about that man.

Victoria: A surprise? For me?

Ashland: I had a burst of inspiration recently, and i can’t wait to see your reaction.

Victoria: [ Chuckles ] Tell me.

Ashland: Well, better yet, I’m gonna show you. Now, my view — it’s still in the rough stages. It’s not a full rendering. But I believe that you will get the gist. A bold, new corporation needs new headquarters. Behold, newman/locke corporate campus. We have newman tower, alongside its brand-new twin, locke tower. Everything state-of-the-art. We should probably have the new one completed in about three years, and I might even be able to see it.

Victoria: I can’t believe you did all this. I — I never imagined two buildings.

Ashland: Well, it’s a symbol of what we’re creating. It’s a sign to the world — twice the company, twice as formidable.

Victoria: It’s, um — it’s — it’s quite a premise. I’m very impressed. What you came up with is — it’s incredible.

Victor: I love the idea of identical towers dominating the skyline for a century to come.

Victoria: I think it’s great. Let’s talk about it later. I — I have to meet my mom right now. Um, I’ll see you. Rinsing the dishes before they go in the dishwasher?

Phyllis: Ashland. You’re looking good.

Ashland: Thanks.

Phyllis: Going to the gym?

Ashland: I’d like to purchase a package that includes the spa. I’ll be coming regularly as part of my treatment regimen. I figure I should take a, uh, month-to-month at this point, though.

Phyllis: Okay. Sure. I’ll accommodate you. It’s always great to have a guest return.

Ashland: Well, I doubt that sentiment extends to my ex-wife. I never did properly thank you for exposing her illegal activities.

Phyllis: You’re welcome. Embezzling from her own company — wow, that’s lovely.

Ashland: Mm. Even though you were acting on your daughter’s behalf, i benefited. It made certain decisions a whole lot simpler for me.

Phyllis: I find it odd that tara was able to fool you. I mean, you’re a man who’s made a career out of being 10 steps ahead of others.

Ashland: [ Chuckles ] Well… despite what you may believe, I did love her once. At least, it was a kind of love. And love makes you see things in a different way.

Nikki: So, how is ashland’s treatment going?

Victoria: Well, as you know, the first day was rocky, but ever since then, he seems to be handling things just fine.

Nikki: [ Sighs ] I’m happy to hear that. I know all about cherishing the good days. You want to make the most of them.

Victoria: I talked to nick about ashland and my engagement.

Nikki: And?

Victoria: He’s reserving judgment. He says he wants to get to know ashland better before he decides what to think of him.

Nikki: Well, that’s not unreasonable.

Victoria: So much for family unity.

Nikki: Darling, you have to look at this from our point of view. I mean, given ashland’s prognosis, when we heard about your decision to get married, it was a bit of a shock. Of course we’re concerned about you marrying a man who could leave you all too soon.

Victoria: But, mother, that’s why we’re taking this step. We don’t know how much time we have. Why can’t nick just be happy for me? He sees how happy I am. He knows how happy ashland makes me. He even commented on it. Can’t that be enough? I mean, why can’t he support and respect the decision that i have made, the same way that dad has? Anyway, we’re not here to parse everyone’s opinion about my fiancé. We have a wedding to plan.

Nikki: Yes, indeed we do.

Victoria: And since it’s a destination wedding — it’s gonna be a big splash with all a-listers invited — I am going to need a dress that’s equally impressive. I was thinking about talking to summer to see if she could get angelina marchetti to consider designing it for me.

Nikki: Oh, what a fabulous idea. I know that summer will be thrilled to make that happen.

Victoria: Well, I’ve been giving it a lot of thought, and I think I want something form-fitting, you know, like a sheath or a trumpet look, classic in the front with a plunging back.

Nick: You know, I said the same thing to my sister and to my parents. Other than this guy’s ruthless business reputation and the tabloid gossip about his messy divorce, what do we know about him?

Billy: That’d be a big, fat nothing.

Nick: Exactly. So, before his divorce is finalized, he gets with my sister and then, uh, finds out he’s got terminal cancer and now they’re engaged to be married.

Billy: The dude moves fast.

Nick: Something is not right with this picture. I couldn’t even pretend to be happy when victoria told me the news.

Billy: Oh, I am with you, brother.

Nick: Throw on top of that her terrible track record with men, present company included…

Billy: No offense taken.

Nick: No, no. Billy, take offense, please. It’s absolutely my intent.

Billy: Oh, no, this isn’t about me. Carry on.

Nick: The question that is eating me alive is, what is the rush? Ashland knows he’s probably not long for this earth. Victoria doesn’t need anything from him, so it’s not like he’s doing it for her. Why do they have to make it official to spend time together? They already live together. Why is that not enough?

Billy: You know, nick, the way you’re asking me that question, it’s almost like you’re conceding the fact that i know victoria better than anyone else, including her own brother. Trusted by pet owners for over 20 years

Ashland: We got off on the wrong foot when I first came to town, and I’d like to rectify that.

Phyllis: Why is that? Because I’m involved with victoria’s brother and you’re about to marry her?

Ashland: Well, not only that. Your daughter, summer, is helping raise my little boy.

Phyllis: Wow we’re one big happy family, aren’t we?

Ashland: [ Chuckling ] Well, let’s not go too far. Although I am very impressed the way summer has embraced her new role as harrison’s stepmother. Jack tells me that she’s wonderful with him, and for that I am grateful. And I would like to be on better terms with her mom.

Phyllis: Well, being a fan of my daughter will get you a long way.

Ashland: Well, while we’re at it, maybe you can help me win over your boyfriend. I spoke with him after victoria and I became engaged.

Phyllis: Oh, wow. How’d that go over?

Ashland: Well, nick was polite, and he didn’t pull any punches. He even compared me to billy abbott.

Phyllis: Really? Okay. I think he was just trying to make a point.

Ashland: No doubt.

Phyllis: Mm-hmm.

Ashland: What really rankles me is the way the men in victoria’s life treat her. I mean, they act as if she’s some fragile flower that doesn’t know her own mind. And she happens to be one of the smartest, strongest, most capable women that I have ever met.

Phyllis: Okay. Did you tell nick that?

Ashland: I think I made it clear to nick that victoria doesn’t need to justify her actions to anyone.

[ Clears throat ] He heard me out, but I don’t know if I scored any points with him.

Phyllis: Okay, listen, um, nick is really protective of his family, especially his sister. And, I mean, you have to see that the circumstances surrounding this marriage are… odd.

Ashland: What are your thoughts? As long as the rest of the world is weighing in.

Phyllis: I think true love is hard to find.

Ashland: Mm.

Phyllis: And I think if you find it, you better hold on tight.

Ashland: Agreed. Perhaps you can help nick see that’s all this is about — two people who have found the rarest of commodities — true love.

Nikki: Okay, that takes care of the menu.

Victoria: Excellent.

Nikki: Now, uh, what about the music for before and during the ceremony? Are you gonna want a vocalist or string quartet? Oh! A harpist is always very elegant.

Victoria: Hmm. Let me give that some thought. Maybe a harpist during cocktails and dinner, and then the quartet can start playing during coffee and dessert.

Nikki: Ah! Definite possibility.

Victoria: You know, we really have gotten a lot accomplished, and I think we’ve made some outstanding choices.

Nikki: You know what? I keep forgetting to ask you. Are you going to need office arrangements to be made while you’re on your honeymoon?

Victoria: What do you mean?

Nikki: Well, I didn’t know if ashland would be playing an active role in running things at what will soon be newman/locke. I mean, will he need an office, a reception area? Are you going to need special equipment to be ordered? Because I can take care of all that for you while you’re away. Do you know where you’re going yet?

Victoria: Ashland and i haven’t discussed it.

Nikki: Well, if he does decide to take an active role, he’s going to need a place to work. Somewhere near you on the executive floor, I assume?

Nikki: Oh. I’m sorry. Have I upset you? Did I say the wrong thing just now?

Victor: [ Sighs ] I understand that some locke communications employees are starting to relocate from new york to genoa city… and that you arranged some meetings with them, trying to hire them away from locke.

Adam: Nothing gets by you.

Victor: I want you to know that, from now on, newman/locke employees are out of bounds.

Adam: I reached out to a select few individuals for potential opportunities at newman media, okay? They could have said no. There’s no arm-twisting going on. They didn’t have to come in here for an interview.

Victor: Let me make another thing perfectly clear again. I do not want you to do anything to undermine your sister, victoria, nor to in any way endanger the merger between newman enterprises and locke communications.

Adam: You have absolutely made that clear… just as you’ve made it clear that I am in charge of this company and I am the person that ultimately make the decisions. Dull skin? Swipe it away.

“The young and the restless”

will continue.

Chloe: Hey, you. I was wondering when you’d get to the office.

Sally: Oh, it’s such a gorgeous day, I thought I’d work outside for a bit. You got my text, didn’t you?

Chloe: Yeah. It’s — it’s fine. I — I just thought I’d come by.

Sally: Checking up on me? Oh.

Chloe: It’s — it’s not like that.

Sally: Well, what’s it like?

Chloe: I, um — I ran into adam. He said he saw you earlier and that you were on your way to the office, and then I got your text message that you were coming here, so… you know, I’m just checking in on my latest hire. Wanted to make sure everything was okay.

Sally: Yeah. I mean, everything’s better than okay, partly because of some of the things that adam said to me.

Chloe: Sally —

Sally: Look, will you stop? Please. Really, all he did was stop me from making a huge mistake.

Chloe: Okay, you lost me.

Sally: Phyllis managed to tick me off yet again, and adam peeled me off the ceiling. Instead of spending my time looking for creative ways to get back at her, he suggested that i focus on my own success. And, you know, coming from someone who’s been there, it really did resonate.

Chloe: I’ve been there before. I’ve had those urges, the wanting to hurt someone a thousand times more than they’ve hurt you. Those thoughts can really burrow into your brain.

Sally: I know that adam is not your favorite person, but i really am in a much better place after talking to him. I mean, I went from, “I am going to bury that viper,” to, “phyllis who?”

Chloe: Good. And she is one of those people who just likes to go to war just for kicks. She will just not let it go. So it’s probably better for you if you just stay off her radar. It’s gonna make your life a lot easier. Trust me.

Sally: There’s a lot of that going around lately, people asking me to trust them.

Sally: Well, in my case, it’s actually true.

[ Chuckles ]

Sally: [ Sighs ] Chloe, I am super excited about this job, and I plan to make the most out of this opportunity that you’ve given me. I find that sometimes I get my best ideas when I’m outside, soaking up the sun. So here I am. I promise to be equally as productive inside the office as out.

Chloe: Okay. It’s cool. So, let me see what you’re working on.

Sally: Well [Clears throat] I am drawing up some story ideas for my first six weeks at newman media, up-and-coming designers, international trends that you’ll be seeing on the runway in the next few months, and I definitely want to do a piece on how gender barriers are coming down, with all these, you know, new designers launching unisex lines.

Chloe: I love it. What else are you working on?

Sally: Oh, uh, I mean, that’s just a sampling. I have tons of ideas —

Chloe: No, I don’t mean that. I mean, um, what are you working on really? What else are you working on? Because I’m getting the sense that there’s something going on with you.

Sally: You think I’m hiding something?

Chloe: I don’t know. Are you?

Sally: No. I really don’t know how you’d get that.

Chloe: I’m really good at reading people. And I’m picking up signals, like that page you just swiped, like you thought I wouldn’t notice.

Sally: [ Stammers ] It’s just story research. That’s it. I swear.

Chloe: Sally, I asked you to be honest with me. So, if there’s something going on with you, does this have something to do with phyllis?

Sally: No. I —

[ Sighs ] I wasn’t gonna share this with you until I was further along with this idea that I’m working on.

Chloe: Which is?

Sally: I am gonna convince victoria to let me design her wedding dress.

Victoria: It’s complicated, trying to decide how far ahead to plan with so many unknowns.

Nikki: I understand.

Victoria: I mean, ashland and I were hoping for the best, but we can’t ignore the reality of his situation. Maybe the treatment’s gonna work, maybe not. But focusing too much on his work life — it just seems wrong. I just don’t want to feel like he’s pushing himself.

Nikki: Or it might help prepare him for the best outcome. Has he broached the subject with you?

Victoria: Yes, mom, we talk about work all the time, the merger, which is on track to finalize in a month.

Nikki: Oh. I wasn’t aware that that timeline was official.

Victoria: Yes. As of this morning.

Nikki: Is there anything else I need to know about?

Victoria: Mom, I have spent countless hours going over all of this to make sure that it goes smoothly, which is why I so look forward to my time with you — because I want the same thing for this wedding. I want it to be a celebration about ashland and me as a couple, not as business partners, not as two entities involved in a merger. I want this to be about just us and the time that we have. And as far as work goes, I think we should just play that by ear.

Nick: If you expect me to agree that you’re some kind of authority on victoria, that is not gonna happen, alright? I’m just talking to everyone who’s in her life, trying to get a read on some of the actions she’s made. Honestly, I would like to stay out of her personal business if it can be helped, but I need to know if there’s an issue here or not.

Billy: Well, it actually sounds like you’re trying to see if I’m gonna use my resources at chanccomm to go after ashland locke. You know, you want me to do the digging because if it blows up in my face, then I’m the one that takes the brunt of it.

Nick: This idea just occurred to you, digging into ashland’s past to try and come up with some dirt to get him out of victoria’s life? Sounds to me like it’s something you’ve been gearing up to do, and you’re gonna do it whether you get any encouragement from me or not. A lot of people think dealing with copd

Adam: You are an advisor. That’s the role that you chose, to work with me, your ceo. And I took your warning about locke communications group in that spirit — that it was advice that I could take or not. And I have no doubt that billy and lily see the same opportunity and they’ll act accordingly.

Victor: As is their prerogative.

Adam: And locke’s employees are stuck in the middle of a transition. They don’t have any idea how it’s going to affect them. They’re looking for solid ground, so that is what I’m prepared to offer them. And I’m not gonna miss out on a potential gold mine of talent because you don’t want to hurt victoria’s feelings. It’s business, dad, as you have said a thousand times in similar circumstances. I’m doing what I need to do, same as victoria, who just took on a behemoth. I mean, what is it? Do you not think she’s up to the task?

Victor: You know I do.

Adam: Well, this is part of it — dealing with aggressive competition for scarce resources. It is the right move to make. You know it, I know it, and victoria will know it, too. So, I’m just asking you to keep your personal feelings out of it.

Victor: You’re my son, alright. But I advise you to keep your personal feelings out of it, as well.

Nick: Ashland stopped by here?

Phyllis: Mm-hmm.

Nick: What’d he want?

Phyllis: A gym membership. I think he really just wanted to talk to me since we’re all gonna be one big happy family.

Nick: Did he actually say that?

Victoria: Uh, he thanked me for exposing tara.

Nick: He should be grateful. You made it possible for him to just move on to his next marriage.

Phyllis: He also told me that you expressed your concerns.

Nick: I was simply honest with him.

Phyllis: [ Laughs ] He said you compared him to billy. Seriously?

Nick: Billy was just walking in as we finished talking. It seemed plausible at the time.

Phyllis: Well, his expectations are warranted. I mean, he just, you know, wants you to support the relationship. That’s all. And he was asking if I would bring you around, you know, and see that true love is a hard commodity to find. That’s what he said.

Nick: Isn’t it fair for me to want to know a little bit about the guy who’s planning to marry my sister? And to be concerned about the speed at which it’s happening? I don’t see this ending well for victoria at all.

Phyllis: Oh, okay. It’s probably not gonna end well for ashland.

Nick: Look, something about it feels off. It feels rushed, alright? And I can’t wrap my head around it in several ways.

Phyllis: Are you gonna try to talk victoria out of this?

Nick: Give me one good reason why I shouldn’T.

Phyllis: Well, I’ll give you three. It’s none of your business, number one. Number two, she’s in love. And, truly, love is hard to find. And, three, she’s gonna do what she wants anyway.

Billy: [ Grunts ]

[ Keys clacks ]

Lily: What are you doing?

Billy: Hey. Uh, I’m just doing a little bit of research on that potential project that I mentioned about the romantic breakups among the denizens of genoa city.

Lily: Right. Okay. Uh, what kind of research exactly?

Billy: Just adding up all the marriages and divorces among some of our elites, you know, like victor and jack, nick, phyllis, of course.

Lily: Victoria. Don’t forget her.

Billy: I’m not gonna forget her. She would be considered a denizen, yes.

Lily: Mm. Yeah, I’m getting kind of a funny feeling.

Billy: Funny like “ha ha” feeling?

Lily: No, it’s that feeling i get when I know that you’re hiding something from me.

Billy: [ Sighs ] I always had a connection to my grandfather…

Sally: I overheard victoria and her mom talking. I know precisely what she is looking for in a dress.

Chloe: So you started sketching.

Sally: What can I say? Coming up with a showstopper is in my blood. I am gonna present victoria with some ideas that will blow her away. It’ll be like I read her mind. She’s not gonna be able to say no. This is gonna be such an amazing coup, not only for me, but also for newman media. I mean, talk about putting our new fashion platform on the map. That wedding is gonna be the social event of the decade. The buzz is gonna be enormous.

Chloe: Okay, look, I really admire your talent and your drive, but let’s be realistic. There is no way that summer newman’s aunt is going to let anywhere near her wedding plans.

Sally: Do you know how many people have told me that i couldn’t do something, who’ve written me off and told me that my dreams are utterly ridiculous? It just makes me more determined to get what I want.

Nick: Are you telling me not to meddle into someone else’s business to possibly prevent someone that I love very much from doing something that could wind up hurting her?

Phyllis: You’re calling me a hypocrite right now.

Nick: No. I would not do that. Um, sometimes your selective logic never ceases to amaze me.

Phyllis: Oh! Oh. Um, do what you want. It doesn’t matter to me. Victoria’s your sister. I’m not gonna criticize you, okay? I’m just saying that she is hell-bent on marrying this guy. And whoever stands in her way, watch out.

Nick: So you’re saying there could be some blowback?

Phyllis: Yeah, I guarantee there will be.

Nick: I mean, alright. When you put it that way, maybe I will just stay on the sideline and let billy be the one to torpedo things because, let me tell you, he is on a mission not to allow victoria to go through with this wedding.

Billy: Okay. Your instincts are right. Again.

Lily: Mm. What are you hiding this time?

Billy: I’m not only looking into longtime genoa city residents. I’m also looking into ashland locke’s past… and how it ties in to the bigger story, as in another potentially dangerous and doomed relationship in the making.

Lily: Right, but usually the reporter that’s writing the story does that kind of research. So, what are you really doing? Oh, wait. I know. Let me guess. You’re turning over rocks with ashland locke’s name on them, trying to find some sort of heinous, unforgivable sin that he’s done that victoria cannot forgive so that you can stop this wedding from ever happening.

Victoria: [ Sighs ] Ashland? Are you home?
