Friday, September 13, 2019 (10:00 PM-11:00 PM EST) :ABC News’ ‘20/20’ Documents the True Story of the Women Who Conspired to Drug and Scam Wealthy Men and Inspired the New Movie ‘Hustlers,’ Airs Friday, Sept. 13
Features Exclusive TV Interviews With Two Women Involved in Scheme and a Cardiologist Who Was a Victim of the Crimes Includes Interviews With Jennifer Lopez and Cardi B, Stars of ‘Hustlers’
In 2013, a wealthy cardiologist went on three dates with a young woman who claimed to be a nursing student. Each morning following the dates, he woke up with limited memory of the evening before. After date No. 3 he received a call from his credit card fraud department flagging $135,000 worth of charges at a New York City gentlemen’s club. Following a sting operation, authorities unraveled the details of an extraordinary scam led by former strippers who secretly drugged and robbed wealthy men as well as the cardiologist who said a substance was slipped into his drink on the dates, causing him to lose memory. The women involved in the scam were the source of inspiration for the new movie “Hustlers,” and “20/20” features exclusive TV interviews with two of them, Roselyn “Rosie” Keo and Karina Pascucci, and cardiologist Dr. Zyad Younan. The hour also includes interviews with Jennifer Lopez and Cardi B, stars of “Hustlers.” “20/20” airs Friday, Sept. 13 (10:00–11:00 p.m. EDT), on ABC.
“20/20” features exclusive TV interviews with Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) agents Eric Triana and James Mannick, as well as NYPD Detective Danny Politowski who helped carry out a sting operation at a luxury hotel. Their hidden cameras caught some of these women on tape in never-before-seen sting footage.
Following the 2008 financial crisis, the gentleman’s club scene changed and dancers claim they had to go to more extreme lengths to get wealthy men, whom they dubbed “sharks,” into the clubs where they worked in order to get them to spend large sums of money. The group of women, including Keo and Pascucci, went to high-profile hotels and bars to target sharks. After chatting with the men, they would try to lure them back to the gentlemen’s clubs where the women could receive a cut of the money they spent. The men didn’t realize that during the course of the night their drinks were spiked with drugs and thousands of dollars in charges were racked up without their full knowledge.
The investigation of law enforcement, with the help of Dr. Younan and evidence from the sting operation, eventually lead to the arrest of Keo, Pascucci and others, who pleaded guilty to a number of felony charges. Keo received probation and no jail time. Pascucci received six months of weekends in jail and probation.
“20/20” is anchored by David Muir and Amy Robach. David Sloan is senior executive producer.

  • CBS 48 HOURS – Saturday, September 14, 10:00PM Show More
“48 HOURS,” AMERICA’S #1 SATURDAY NIGHT TRUE-CRIME SERIES, KICKS OFF A NEW SEASON WITH A SPECIAL TWO-HOUR BROADCAST – THE RIVETING CASE OF THE HOLLYWOOD RIPPER Preview Maureen Maher Takes Viewers Inside the Investigation of “The Hollywood Ripper” a Serial, Sexual Thrill Killer – It’s a Case Maher Helped Crack Wide Open
48 HOURS, America’s #1 Saturday night true-crime series, kicks off its new season with a special two-hour investigation of Michael Gargiulo, the serial killer known as “The Hollywood Ripper” to be broadcast Saturday, Sept. 14 (9:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.
Prosecutors say Gargiulo attacked four young women. One of the victims was killed on the same night she was planning to go on a date with actor Ashton Kutcher. Kutcher was a key witness at trial.
For more than 10 years, 48 HOURS correspondent Maureen Maher has been tracking the Hollywood Ripper.
“It’s a story that 48 HOURS helped break wide open,” Maher reports.
Maher’s coverage began in 2008, 1,800 miles away from Hollywood, with the unsolved murder of Tricia Pacaccio. Pacaccio was brutally stabbed and left to die on the doorstep of her family’s Glenview, Ill., home in 1993. At the time Gargiulo was a 17-year-old high school student living around the corner. Police did not suspect him, but Tricia’s family later did.
Gargiulo headed to Los Angeles with dreams of becoming an actor, and where he went, say prosecutors, attacks followed. In 2001, 22-year-old fashion student Ashley Ellerin was stabbed 47 times. In 2005 Maria Bruno, a mother of four, was also slaughtered, and in 2008 Michelle Murphy was attacked, but she survived. Gargiulo lived near all of his victims.
Maher’s report on the case aired in 2011. Soon after the 48 HOURS broadcast, two key witnesses came forward and Gargiulo was charged with the murder of Pacaccio almost 18 years after her death.
In the two-hour season premiere, Maher and 48 HOURS go inside the investigation that connected police in two states and brought Gargiulo to trial in California. The broadcast takes a deep dive into who Gargiulo is and how he got away with killing for so long. Maher has first interviews with his former friends who knew him well and provide rare insight into what makes him tick. The broadcast features Gargiulo’s acting audition tape and a rare conversation with Gargiulo from jail, where he talks about the charges against him. Maher also has an interview with Pacaccio’s family.
48 HOURS, which launched in 1988, finished the 2018-2019 season as Saturday’s #1 non-sports broadcast for the 13th consecutive season. The broadcast is one of the most successful true-crime shows in television history. The enduring appeal of the program is based on original reporting. 48 HOURS has helped exonerate the wrongly convicted and solve cold cases, and is committed to investigating the most compelling murder cases.
Judy Tygard begins her first full season as executive producer of 48 HOURS with a new look and evocative opening sequence. Click here to preview the opening.
“When you see our new open, like our show, you can’t look away,” says Tygard.
