  • CBS LOVE ISLAND – Sunday, August 1 Show More
Episode 319 – Airing 8/1/21 (9:01PM) – From screenrant.com: Season 3 episode 19 will show which boys and girls were saved by the public vote, all while three new islanders are introduced to the villa. Cashay Proudfoot is more confident about Charlie Lynch, and her feelings for Cinco keep dwindling down as she sees Trina Njoroge go through another heartbreak. If we’re being honest here, there is a high likelihood that Cinco will be sent home if episode 19 includes an elimination. Also at risk is Jeremy Hershberg, who barely survived the last dumping.
Shannon St Claire & Josh Goldstein should get enough votes to survive this next Love Island USA elimination just fine, but the jury is still out on Kyra Lizama & Will Moncada’s fate on the show. It’ll also be interesting to see how fans feel about this new relationship between Olivia Kaiser & Korey Gandy. Meanwhile, Casa girls Leslie Golden and Genevieve Shawcross are very at risk of a sudden dumping. Alas, three new replacements are coming in: Alana Paolucci, Bailey Marshall, and Elly Steffen.
  • CBS LOVE ISLAND – Tuesday, August 3 Show More
Episode 320 – Airing 8/3/21 (9:00PM) – From screenrant.com: Season 3 episode 20 will show the aftermath of the fight between Shannon St Claire and Will Moncada, and it’ll introduce new girls Alana Paolucci, Bailey Marshall, and Elly Steffen to the villa. Last time on the show, Korey Gandy, Jeremy Hershberg, Charlie Lynch, and Will got texts announcing that they’re going on dates with the new arrivals. It’s a given that Jeremy, who is single, will go all-in on the new girls. But it’ll be interesting to see what Korey (partnered with Olivia Kaiser) and Charlie (partnered with Cashay Proudfoot) will do. The fans will also pay close attention to how Kyra Lizama and Will Moncada will act with their Love Island USA co-stars following the latest elimination round where they came very close to being eliminated. Will has been a close friend to virtually everyone in the villa, and Kyra is feeling particularly hurt by her girl friends. Other than this potential drama, things should still be smooth sailing for Josh Goldstein and Shannon St Claire, as it is clear that the new arrivals won’t even try to pursue Josh at this point in the game. Meanwhile, Trina Njoroge is waiting around to see what’s next.

After the blowup between Shannon St Claire and Will Moncada, it was time for Kyra Lizama to speak up. But Shannon didn’t back down, which may damage her friendship with Kyra.
Elsewhere in the Love Island villa, Korey Gandy is a happy-go-lucky guy getting to know new girl Bailey Marshall and feeling like she’s reciprocating his interest. However, Olivia Kaiser is feeling very upset about this new love triangle, and tensions should rise in the coming days. Speaking of Bailey, Jeremy Hershberg is also extremely interested in her, and it’s possible for her to explore that path in order to avoid dealing with the Korey & Olivia situation. Trina Njoroge, Elly Steffen, and Alana Paolucci are single and ready to mingle, so they’re ready for the two new boys to arrive.

  • CBS 48 HOURS – Saturday, August 7 Show More
Airing 8/7/21 (Sa.) (9:00 PM) on the CBS Television Network: “48 HOURS” DOUBLE FEATURE, SATURDAY, AUGUST 7
9:00 PM, ET/PT – 48 HOURS: “Murder at the Mall” – Correspondent Jamie Yuccas and 48 HOURS report on the death of 18-year-old Michelle Martinko who went out to the local mall in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on Dec. 19, 1979 and was later found dead in her car, in an encore of “Murder at the Mall: The Michelle Martinko Case” to be broadcast Saturday, Aug. 7 (9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Martinko was stabbed and cut 29 times. Investigators looked at those closest to her as possible suspects, and questioned many of her male friends. The case baffled local police officers for decades, and kept them going through several generations, until they got a break from evidence Martinko left behind. The case came alive in 2005 when blood scrapings from the gearshift of Martinko’s car were sent out for testing. That lab report turned up male DNA – DNA that did not match anyone previously interviewed in the case, or anyone in the nationwide database of criminal offenders. It would take another decade – and a new detective. He turned to Parabon NanoLabs, which uses genetic genealogy to track DNA from one family member to another. Parabon found a distant relative of the killer. Did they have the killer? 48 HOURS takes viewers inside the unrelenting efforts by police to solve the case. Watch a preview.
  • CBS 48 HOURS – Saturday, August 7 Show More
Airing 8/7/21 (Sa.) (10:00 PM) on the CBS Television Network: 10:00 PM, ET/PT – 48 HOURS: “The Case Against Nicole Addimando” – Correspondent Jericka Duncan and 48 HOURS have the latest on the investigation into the death of gymnastics coach Chris Grover, and the murder case against his partner Nicole Addimando in an updated encore of “The Case Against Nicole Addimando,” to be broadcast Saturday, Aug. 7 (10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. The death of Grover and the legal proceedings against Addimando divided the community in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. The case hinged on the question of whether Addimando murdered Grover or she was, as she argues, acting in self-defense against an abusive partner. The story begins on Sept. 28, 2017, when a police officer spotted a car stopped at a green light. When he sounded his air horn to get the car to move, an agitated Addimando got out and told him something had gone terribly wrong at home. She told police that her partner Grover had abused her for years. She said things reached a boiling point when Grover came home from work that day, after Child Protective Services visited to investigate an anonymous report earlier that morning. At one point that night, she said, they lay down on the couch together and Grover pulled a gun from the cushions. When Addimando asked to leave, by her account, he said he would kill her. Addimando said she got the gun away from Grover and shot him in self-defense. Addimando was convicted of second-degree murder in 2019. An appeals court heard her case in April 2021. 48 HOURS has the latest on the appeal and a decision that continues to split the community.  Watch a preview.

10/10/20 (Sa.) (10:00 PM) – FOR THE FIRST TIME ON NETWORK TELEVISION, THE DEFENSE TEAMS REPRESENTING THE THREE WHITE MEN ACCUSED OF KILLING GEORGIA JOGGER AHMAUD ARBERY EXPLAIN WHY THEY SAY THEIR CLIENTS ARE NOT GUILTY
PROSECUTOR JESSE EVANS DOES HIS ONLY INTERVIEW ON “48 HOURS: JUSTICE FOR AHMAUD” Preview
The viral video of Black jogger Ahmaud Arbery being chased and shot dead in Brunswick, Ga., captured the attention of the nation. Now, as three white men – former law enforcement officer Gregory McMichael, his son Travis and neighbor William “Roddie” Bryan – stand accused of killing Arbery, the prosecutor and the defense attorneys sit down for their first in-depth network television interviews on 48 HOURS: “Justice for Ahmaud,” to be broadcast Saturday, Oct. 10 (10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.
The shooting death of Arbery made international headlines and drew the attention of lawmakers and celebrities. It’s a story about a mother’s relentless pursuit for the truth of what happened to her son. It’s also a case that has raised questions about race and racism, and whether local authorities tried to squash the initial investigation.
“They took my baby boy from me,” says Wanda Cooper Jones, Arbery’s mother.
“I want justice for Ahmaud … so Ahmaud can rest in peace,” Cooper Jones says.
“Any single shot was too much,” prosecutor Jesse Evans tells CBS News correspondent Omar Villafranca. “Merely pointing that shotgun at somebody was too much. Getting in pickup trucks and chasing Ahmaud Arbery down was too much. This whole case is too much.”
The prosecutor says Arbery, 25, was jogging on Feb. 23 in the waterfront neighborhood of Satilla Shores when the three white men pursued and cornered him. The McMichaels were in one truck. Bryan was in his pickup. Together they trapped Arbery, says Evans. Bryan was filming the final moments while Arbery fought for his life. But months passed without an arrest. Arbery’s mother kept attention on the case.
“I think they woke up a sleeping giant in Wanda Cooper with the murder of her son,” says Lee Merritt, a civil rights attorney who represents Arbery’s family.
The world took notice when Bryan’s graphic video showing the horrifying final moments of Arbery’s life as he’s shot went viral online. Investigators say it was Travis McMichael who fired the fatal shots.
The McMichaels were arrested in May, and two weeks later Bryan was arrested.
Bryan told police that after firing that fatal shot, Travis McMichael stood over Arbery and used the N-word. Travis McMichael’s attorneys insist that never happened and suggest Bryan made it up.
“I think Roddie Bryan is incredibly motivated…to keep himself from becoming a murder defendant in a murder trial,” says Travis McMichael’s defense attorney Jason Sheffield.
The McMichaels’ attorneys insist their clients are good men with long records of public service. Over the years, they say, both Gregory, as a former Naval officer and Travis, formerly in the Coast Guard, rescued people of all races, including Black people. They say their clients are not racist, and what happened on Feb. 23 had nothing to do with the color of Arbery’s skin.
“It’s not just two white men out there, hunting down, trapping and executing a Black man, as the prosecution characterized it,” says Frank Hogue, an attorney for Gregory McMichael. “That is not what happened.”
“This is a case about a good man who had to defend himself on Feb. 23 when he was in a terrible situation,” says Bob Rubin, an attorney for Travis McMichael.
In the minutes before the shooting, Arbery was seen at a neighbor’s house under construction. Even though there’s no evidence Arbery took anything from the house, the McMichaels say they suspected him of burglary. They grabbed their guns and got into a truck to try and stop him. But then they say, Arbery charged at Travis.
“He’s being attacked and overwhelmed by Ahmaud Arbery’s strength. And he has to either fire that gun or lose his life at that point,” his lawyer Bob Rubin says.
“Why not let him run away and keep eyes on him from a distance. … knowing that you’ve put this fear of God in this person if you think they have committed a crime?” correspondent Omar Villafranca asks.
“I don’t know that Travis thought that he’d put the fear of God into this person. This person put the fear of God into Travis, based on the way that he was acting,” says defense attorney Jason Sheffield.
“Even though Travis has a gun and a vehicle, and Ahmaud Arbery has two legs?” Villafranca counters.
“You still can be afraid while you have possession of a firearm,” Sheffield insists.
But Evans says there’s no evidence that Arbery was the aggressor.
“Clearly, the person that started this were Greg and Travis McMichael,” says the prosecutor.
And Evans believes Arbery’s race did play a role that day. The prosecutor intends to introduce evidence found on the defendants’ phones and social media accounts including text messages where Travis McMichael uses the N-word.
48 HOURS has also obtained explosive text messages of racial slurs found on co-defendant Roddie Bryan’s phone.
Gregory and Travis McMichael have been charged with both felony murder and aggravated assault. William “Roddie” Bryan has been charged with felony murder and criminal attempt to commit false imprisonment. All three have pleaded not guilty.
Villafranca and 48 HOURS investigate the shooting through interviews with the lead prosecutor, defense attorneys, Arbery’s friends and family and more.
48 HOURS: “Justice for Ahmaud” is produced by Josh Yager, Rodney Hawkins, Gayane Keshishyan Mendez, Mead Stone, Deanna Fry, Bonita Sostre, Jessi Mitchell and Chris St. Peter.
