THIS STILL NEEDS EXTENSIVE EDITING!

best advice I can give you is to give the nurse on duty a heads up when you refer a patient to another doctor, especially if you want to stay on their good side.

[ Chuckles ] Got it. I definitely want to stay on the good side of all the nurses. And I want to thank you for all the help and support you’ve given me the last week. You’re so welcome. You’re gonna be a great addition to the staff here. I have to say, I’m a little overwhelmed. There’s always so much going on. Always will be. How are you? How’s your day? Uh, busier than ever. Yours? Actually, I just… I just got here, but I got to run out again. I got to go check on chase. How’s he doing? Yeah, he’s not answering any of my calls or my texts, so I’m just going to bite the bullet and go on over to his place. I’ll let you know after I see him. Good luck. Thanks. Would you like to have dinner with me tonight? Yeah. I would love that. Yeah? Why don’t you and violet come over, and we’ll throw something together? Yeah, I like that. Okay. Yeah. Yeah. And that — that way, we can spend some time with aiden. I know he would love to see violet. He’s been home alone a lot lately since jake has been spending so much time with charlotte. Yeah. No, violet would love to see aiden, too. Yeah, it’ll be fun. Yeah. Yeah, it’ll be fun.

[ Chuckling ] Okay. Probably not as much fun as what happened last night in the locker room. I’ll see you tonight. I’ll see you tonight. Oh, hey. Hi. Any luck? With? Finding a co-chief of staff? Oh, not yet. I’m too busy trying to find out who was in the staff locker room having sex in the showers. I can’t tell you how happy I am to be home. I was relieved the moment we landed.

[ Chuckles ] Yes, I know. Yeah, it’ll be nice to decompress for a little while after being on the road for so long looking for nikolas. You know something? Hmm? I think I have a bottle of red wine in the kitchen. We can open it up. Oh, i do like red wine.

[ Laughs ] Alright. I’ll take your suitcases inside for you. No, it’s okay. I-I can take it from here. Thank you, spencer. I had an amazing weekend. Yeah, me too. But now you need to go home because I know you’re missing ace. I am. But as much as I want to see my baby brother, I’m just as sad to see our weekend in new york end. It was perfect, by the way. Every second.

Every second? Every…single… second. It was perfect. Dad. I — I love you, son, so much.

[ Sniffles, sighs ]

[ Door slams ] Where is she? Monica is in her office. She’s on video call. I’m not looking for monica. Where is my granny? Tracy, where are you?! Where are you hiding?! I’m not hiding. I’m right here. Why are you shrieking?

[ Guitar strumming, cheers and applause ]

[ Cheers and applause continue ] I’m so sorry.

[ Breathes sharply ] I’m sorry. I didn’t — I didn’t mean to wake you up.

[ Exhales sharply ] You were in my dream.

Ace, sweetheart, where is your mommy? Oh. Laura, kevin, thank god you’re both home!

[ Muttering ] Esme, is everything okay? Ace is teething, and I’ve been with him 24/7. I think I’ve only slept like six hours in the last couple of days. And I had to call alexis this morning to tell her that I wasn’t gonna be able to make it to work, but that I felt bad that I wasn’t going to work.

[ Inhales sharply ] But I’m exhausted. I know, hon. Okay. We’re home now. We can help. I didn’t realize how lonely it would be watching him just… by myself. Where’s spencer? I’m sorry, I… no. No, it’s okay. I want you to go home. I mean, I —

[ Sighs ] I want you to go see ace. I’ll text you or call or… I’ll see you tomorrow, no matter what. You promise? Yeah. Yeah, I promise. Okay, bye. You better. Hey, you’re back. Come on in, have a seat, and tell me all about it. How was it? Oh… it was okay. Just okay? No. It was amazing!

[ Chuckles ]

[ Breathes deeply ] I was wrong, son, and I’m so sorry. I should have told you about my diagnosis. I meant to, but I — I just… kept putting it off. Why? Was it because you… thought I couldn’t handle it? No! No. Because I… didn’t think

i could handle it. All your life, son, you’ve been such a joy and a blessing. Your — your enthusiasm was contagious. Your openness, your optimism. Ever since you were a little boy, if — if I was having a bad day or struggling with something, I’d just… spend time with you, and it would change everything, change my perspective. So I-I’ve just been… selfish, just storing up moments with you where… things felt normal, where… I didn’t have als and I wasn’T…dying.

[ Exhales sharply ]

[ Voice breaking ] But it wasn’t fair to you, and I’m so sorry.

[ Voice breaking ] It’s okay, dad. If spending time with me, if — if that brought you joy… …that’s all that matters.

[ Exhales sharply ]

[ Sniffles ] Who told you someone was having sex in the showers? Amy driscoll. Consider the source, right? Ms. Gh gossip. She does like to make assumptions. Who knows? Maybe it’s not even true. Well, it is. Why do you say that? Because it was me. And just so you know, it was only kissing. With finn? Elizabeth! Well done. Whoa. That was tough. It truly was. Helping families who are losing a loved one figure out the next steps, that’s an important but necessary part of this job. You knew exactly what to say to them, with dignity and heart. The dignity and heart were real, but the rest was instinct and experience. You want to switch it up a bit? Yeah, I’d love to. What do you have in mind? Pediatrics. Oh, I love babies! The best part of this job. Let’s go. Okay.

[ Laughs ] I was in your dream? Yes. And I was naked. On stage. I was naked on stage. It’s crazy. I-I-I was at a gig in my dream, and you were in the crowd. And there was another woman with you. Well, who was it? I don’t know. But it’s really, really frustrating. What is? This dream! Because I’ve had it a couple times. Maybe you should talk to someone about it. I thought I was. How could you? How could I what? Do what you did. What is it you think I did? Think? I know you did. Are you talking in code, or did you hit your head like your father? You can’t bluff your way out of this one, granny. You know exactly what you did!

[ Clears throat ] I, uh, don’t think she does. Can you give us a minute, yuri? Please? This is something that granny and I need to settle privately.

Da. Okay. So would you like to tell me, in plain english, not yelling, what exactly is it you think I did? How could you tell chase that his father has als? That was an honest mistake. Those don’t exist with you. I was at the hospital. I ran into chase. His eyes were red. He was crying. I assumed it was about his father. And when I realized my mistake, I tried to backpedal, but… chase wouldn’t let it go. So you took it upon yourself and you told him? He pressured me! Would you have preferred I lied? Oh, so now you’re taking a stand for honesty?! You are unbelievable, granny. No. I’m just explaining to you what happened.

[ Knocking on door ] Do you want to get that, or do you want to stand there and stare at me?

[ Sighs ] What?! Whoa! Is that any way to greet your mother?

[ Exhales sharply ]

You are talking to someone. And I am more than happy to listen. But I was talking about… more like a — a professional. You know? A psychic?

[ Chuckles ] Yeah. No, I don’t believe in them. Yeah, it’s all just a scam. Oh, no, um, you’d be surprised. But — but — but I wasn’t talking about a psychic. I-I meant like a — like a doctor. Like kevin collins. You know, h-he’s really good with — with dreams and repressed memories. Maybe — maybe this is your subconscious trying to tell you something? No. Thank you. I remember kevin from when I first woke up at the hospital. He’s a nice enough guy, but, you know, he really wasn’t a help then, and I seriously doubt that he can help me now. Okay. Okay. Well, if you’re really serious about getting to the bottom of this… you’ll bite the bullet and you’ll talk to kevin. Ma! It’s so good to see you! Oh, it’s so good to see you, too. How’s my baby? I’m good. I’m surprised to see you.

[ Chuckling ] Ah, yeah, well…

[ Clears throat ] Let me see your hair. Oh! Oh, it’s beautiful. Oh, thank you. Let me see your nails. Oh! Oh, they never cease to impress me. Thank you. Look who’s back!

[ Breathes sharply ]

[ Clears throat ] Hello, tracy. Hello, lois. Hmm. It’s been a minute.

[ Chuckles ] Are those laugh lines or just lines? You’re looking great, too, tracy. Thank you. Mm-hmm. So, to what do we owe this hopefully brief visit? Yeah, ma, what’s going on? Is everything okay at home? Yes, everything is fine in bensonhurst. I — look, I read an article about you being dumped by deception, and I thought, “how dare they? Don’t they know what an asset my brookie is?” Ma, I deserved it. Okay. I don’t know what’s gotten into your head, but my daughter doesn’t deserve to be dumped. I was manipulated into sharing privileged information. Corporate espionage. What?! Manipulated by who? Who would do that to you? Uh-huh.

[ Scoffs ] A newborn’s health is influenced by the access they have to quality healthcare. I’m so sorry to interrupt.

[ Chuckles ] May I steal you for just one moment? Oh. Go ahead, stella. It’ll give me time to study my notes. Okay. Okay. Is everything alright, portia? Dr. Randolph offered me the co-chief of staff position.

[ Gasps ] Congratulations!

[ Laughs ] Did you accept? Not yet. Why not? Well, because. It’s gonna be a lot more work, more e-mails, more phone calls, emergencies. So turn it down. I did. But now I think I might want it. I mean, it’s a senior management position. It’s going to be a little bit more money. And with everything going on with curtis, it would be helpful. Well, take it! Yeah, but what about curtis? What about him? Our trip to new york was amazing. Spencer thought of everything. We saw “moulin rouge!” Whoa. Broadway. Yeah. And then we had dinner at a rooftop restaurant. It was overlooking the city. We could see the empire state building from our table. Wow. Well, it sounds like you had a good time. We did. And spencer organized a tour of the met, and then we did fun little touristy things. Like, we walked around the city, we got a few gourmet coffees, and then we went shopping. Ooh! Which reminds me. I got you something. Trina, you didn’t have to do that. I wanted to. These are for you. I hope you like them. I do. I love them. I got you both because I didn’t know which team you prefer, but i did know that you like basketball. Oh. Yeah. I still love the game, even though I can’t play.

[ Laughs ] I’m gonna go ahead and change ace’s sheets again. Since he started teething, he is drooling like crazy. Yeah, well, you go right ahead. I’m just enjoying my time with my grandson. He’s gotten so much bigger since the last time I saw him. I feel like I’ve done 10 loads of laundry since spencer went away with trina, so… there’s my boy. Look. It’s kevin. Well… so much for decompressing over a nice bottle of wine.

[ Laughs ] I’m still happy to be home. Me, too. I’m gonna take the rest of these upstairs, since…you seem to have your hands full.

[ Laughs ] Thank you. Mm-hmm. Oh, sweetheart. Did you miss grandma? I’ll tell you something. Grandma missed you an awful lot. Mm. Now, tell me — where is your big brother, spencer? Hmm?

[ Gasps ] Look who it is! Two of my three favorite people in the world.

you don’t have to apologize. I understand why you didn’t tell me. Dad… explained everything. How are you doing? At the moment… all I can be is thankful that I have… two such wonderful sons. Hey! How’s it going? Did you miss me? ‘Cause I missed you. Aww. And I’m back, and we could play all day now.

[ Laughs ] Oh, dear. I missed you too, grandmother. It’s really good to see you. I’m glad that you’re home. I missed you, too, and I’m very glad to be home. And, hey, I got you a present. Look at that! Oh, my goodness.

[ Gasps ] This is for you! Hmm? Your brother got you a stuffed toy. Yeah. Yeah. You’re back. If I didn’t steal the deceptor files for granny and commit corporate espionage, she said she’d go to chase. Blackmailing her own granddaughter — thank you, no — by threatening to make trouble with her boyfriend? I don’t think tracy has ever stooped so low. I should have just been honest with chase from the beginning, ma. Then she wouldn’t have had anything to blackmail me with. But instead, I let her manipulate me, and I let down my friends and my colleagues. And they’re furious, and rightfully so. I deserved to get fired. This is on tracy, not on you, brook lynn. I just feel so terrible about what I did. Oh, honey. But you know what? Maybe it’s all for the best. At least, the getting fired part. Why would you say that? Because I’m going back into music, and it feels right. Well, of course it feels right. Because it is! Because it runs in the family.

[ Gasps ]

[ Both screaming, laughing ]

[ Screaming, laughter in distance ] Did you hear that? Of course I heard it. People in new delhi heard it. What’s going on? It’s a bensonhurst invasion. Oh, my god! Look at you! You look so good! Me? Look at you! You’re gorgeous! Oh, god. I wish. H-how long do we get to keep you for? I have absolutely no plans. I saw that my — my little girl was in need, so I wanted to be here for her. Well, I’m glad that you are. Mm. I will always be. Well, honey, honey, where are you staying? I hope you’re going to stay here in the house with me. Huh? I would invite you to stay with me and chase, but the apartment is very small. Okay, so not a problem. And, no, vivi. No. I was thinking of staying at the metro court. Okay, lolo, I will comp you a room. Well, of course you will, and I expect an exceptional room. And you will get one! We got brand-new suites with beautiful views of the waterfront. Just remember, detective chase is only a phone call away. That won’t be necessary. Just as always, you win. When do you want me to start working back at deception? No, ma, you know what? Olivia is right. You should stay here at the house. I think tracy would love having you here. To be honest, we really haven’t had time to discuss it. What’s there to discuss? I’d say it’s about time.

[ Chuckles ] Time for what? Love. [ Chuckles ] Ah. I love love. Right?

[ Laughs ] Well, hi, everybody. Wow. I didn’t realize I was interrupting a party.

[ Chuckles ] Terry, um… do you have a second? I’d like to speak to you about… something pretty important. Dad, finn said that you were diagnosed months ago. But, I mean, right now you… you seem fine. Well, luckily, right now, at this stage of the disease, I still have good days. But my symptoms are… increasing. My hands cramp up more and more when I’m doing simple things like signing my name or typing on the computer. And my balance isn’t so good anymore. I’ve fallen a few times. Dad… but fortunately, today is one of the good days. Why didn’t I see it? I — I should have. I went to great lengths to hide it from you. I didn’t see it either, bro. There was a couple of incidents, but I didn’t put it together. And like you, I should have. No, no, no. This can’t be about you guys blaming each other for what you did or didn’t see. I didn’t want either of you to see anything until I was ready. But now I’m — I’m glad that it’s finally out in the open and I’m able to be honest with both of you — and myself. Okay. How can we help? My weekend in the city with trina was great. Oh. Yeah. Fine dining, um, a few art museums. We caught a show. Nice. Uh, we’re glad you two could find some time away. Me too. Seemed like you had your hands full while I was away. Ace and i were just fine. We had some nice mother-son bonding time. And those are the times that you’ll never forget. Honey, ace seems a little tired to me. I know. It’s — it’s time for his nap. Here. I’m happy to put him down. We could put him to bed together. Sure. We can… put him down together. And maybe you could even sing that stupid song you sing to him that you made up. Oh, the…

ace, base, he’s got the cutest face …song? Yes, that one. That one. Bye-bye, sweetie. Bye! Wave! Sleep tight!

[ Chuckles ]

[ Whispering ] I am so relieved. You mean those two? Yes! Look how well they’re getting along together. I was concerned for ace’s sake. Yes, but… unlike spencer, who has a life outside of ace, esme seems…isolated. And all she has is her work at the invader. She doesn’t really seem to have a group of friends.

That’s enough information for the day. You’re a quick study. Well, you’re a great mentor. Well, I have some paperwork to catch up on. When are you starting here at gh? Next week. I hope I’ll be ready. Oh, you’ll be great! You’re a natural. And I’ll be around whenever you need me. Okay? Thank you, stella. I appreciate it. Spencer was a true gentleman. You have nothing to worry about. Are you sure? I’d hate to have to go full “granddad.” Spencer treated me very well. We had a great trip. She, uh, she gave me the highlights. Whoa! And did you approve? I approve. Yeah. That’s new, isn’t it? Yeah, uh, spencer gave it to me so that I always have something to remember our trip together. And always remember spencer by, no doubt. Well, spencer is pretty unforgettable, so… and what do we have here? These, pop, are a present from trina. And I’m willing to share if you pick the right one. I want the knicks hat. It’s yours. Good choice. Well, I have a paper due for school, so I have to head back to the dorms, okay? Okay. I’ll see you later. Bye-bye. Bye. Thank you for the hat. You don’t really think that cassadine boy is good enough for her, do you? I don’t think I can tell my daughter what to do or who to be with.

[ Clears throat ] What time are you off work? I’m not sure yet. Text me what you like for dinner. I will. Maybe italian? Or russian? Okay. I have patients to see.

[ Chuckles ] What makes sure you, uh,

shower them with kindness. So, portia, what can I do for you?

[ Door closes ] I know that I initially turned down your job offer… but I’ve had a change of heart, and I really want it. I believe that I can do a great job, for you and for gh… so I am officially accepting your job offer to be co-chief of staff. I’m not so sure about staying here at the qs’…

with tracy, you know? I think the room you described at the metro court sounds perfect for me, and I’m going to stay there. Yeah. Actually, you know what? I think that what brook lynn said was right. If — if you stay here and we’re under the same roof, we can really have a proper visit, honey. You know, we could braid each other’s hair and watch crummy movies and eat junk food just like old times. Vivi, no. I don’t think so. Mnh-mnh. Lolo, if I’m at the metro court, it’s going to be all about work drama. I’m not really going to get a chance to see you. Fine. Fine!

[ Clears throat ] Hey, speaking of drama… yeah? …Does ned still think he’s actually eddie maine? What do you mean a bensonhurst invasion? Well, olivia was bad enough, and now there’s two of them. So olivia has family visiting? Why don’t you see for yourself? Okay. Ace is asleep. Mm! Yeah, and I only had to hear spencer sing that silly song three times, but it did make ace laugh, so I guess it was worth it. And he’s asleep, so… good. So, uh, grandmother, you still haven’t told us why you guys decided to come back. Did you give up on looking for my father? Actually, no. Your grandmother refused to give up. Didn’t matter how difficult it became, she insisted we keep looking. It wasn’t always easy at times. Search took us to russia, greece. The trail eventually took us to geneva. Uh, where we actually met with your dad’s banker, who said that he had been seen there at the bank taking out some withdrawals. Um… we didn’t actually see your dad, but we know he’s alive.

Elizabeth, how is finn doing? Oh, he’s well. We should all get together again soon. You, finn, me, terry. I like finn. He’s, uh, good people. Yeah, he’s pretty great. We’ll check our schedules and get back to you guys. I better go. Starting new job this week, and, uh, I have to figure out how to tell my old boss I’m leaving. That’s never easy. Good luck. Hey, it’s me. Just wanted to let you know I was thinking about you, and I hope everything’s going okay with chase. See you later tonight at my place. My specialist was clear. This…

[ Exhales sharply ] …Is a terminal diagnosis. There is no cure for als. But how I handle this disease, how quickly I deteriorate, that’s still to be determined. I’m trying to take this day to day. Are you sure there’s nothing we can do? I wish there was. You know, dad’s got a lot of good days left. And even as the disease progresses, there’s going to be a lot of opportunities to… to be together, to spend time together, to love each other. Well, we will be with you every step of the way. I love you, dad. I love you. I’m a lucky man. Are you sure about taking on the extra responsibility? It’s a lot of work. A lot of hours. I am not afraid of hard work. I’ve worked hard my entire life, and I do not plan on stopping it now. That sounds great. I’ll let dr. Quartermaine know. You might even start on monday… what? …Partner. Yeah.

[ Laughter ] You know, pop, I told trina when she gave me this hat… even though I can’t play, god, I still love the game. Any progress in finding out who shot you, son? It’s been a while. Have the cops found anything? No. Haven’t heard anything yet. You know… the whole time I was a cop, my biggest fear was getting injured in the line of duty.

[ Scoffs ] So when it finally happened, I’m a civilian. Do you know where nikolas is now? No, I don’T. I mean, knowing nikolas, he — he could really be anywhere.

[ Ace crying over baby monitor ] Perfect timing. I think I need a little bit of a break from talking about my dad, so I’m gonna go check on ace. Uh, no, no, no. Why don’t you stay and catch up with your grandmother? I’ll go check on ace. Actually, I agree with esme. I need to make some calls and catch up on my patients. So it’s what we thought all along? My father left us… and he doesn’t want to come back? I really believe that your father is gonna realize the mistake that he’s making and that he will come back to us. I really hope for everyone involved that he just stays away. Spencer, you know you don’t mean that. But I’m really, really glad that you’re home. Aww. And I missed you. I missed you, too. I missed you a lot. It’s gonna be okay. Okay. I’m gonna go check on ace.

[ Sighs ] Oh. Yeah. Valentin, it’s laura. I just got back to port charles. When you pick this up, will you please call me back right away? I want to know what’s going on with charlotte. Thanks. The neighborhood hasn’t changed at all. The pizza place is still hoppin’ every friday night, and the arcade is busier than it’s ever been! Oh, the arcade! How many hours did we spend and waste in that dump? Oh, too many. How many nails did I break playing those stupid games all the time? Well, how’s — how’s gloria and carmine? Oh. Aww, my parents are great. Thank you for asking. Yeah. Yeah, ma still makes pasta every sunday night. Pops is still working in the garage. Can you believe it? Brook lynn… what? …You need to see your grandparents more often. They’re not getting any younger. I will, ma. I promise. You better. Oh. Mm! I know you. Well, I should hope so. I’m your ex-wife… and I’m brook lynn’s mother. Oh. Yeah. But I feel like I know you from somewhere else.
