Clyde: Well, the cops are wrong. Why would I jeopardize my freedom right when I’m beginning to turn my life around, huh?
[Chuckles] Please. I had absolute nothing to do with that woman’s death. You do believe me, don’t you?
[Ominous music]
Ava: [Sighs] Morning.
Jake: Huh?
Ava: I just said morning, you. What you reading, huh?
Jake: Hey. Looks like they may have found abigail’s killer.
Ava: Yeah? Who is it?
Leo: Guten morgen, guinevere.
Gwen: Matty, darling. Thanks for the visit.
Leo: Oh, this is more than just a friendly visit. Have you heard the news?
Gwen: Of course I have. I used my 15 minutes of daily internet time to check “the intruder.”
Leo: Okay, so then you know that clyde weston was arrested.
Gwen: I do.
Leo: This is great news, right? I mean, the guy’s an ex-con, father of the necktie killer. Sounds like there’s pretty solid evidence.
Gwen: Why? Because he gave his girlfriend a piece of abigail’s jewelry?
Leo: If the bracelet fits. Case closed, right?
Gwen: Uh, I don’t know about that.
Shawn: All right. Thanks for the update, captain. I’ll be in touch. Belle. Hey.
Belle: Hey. I came to see how the baby’s doing.
Shawn: Uh, he’s–yeah, he’s doing all right. I mean, you know, the little guy’s a fighter.
Belle: Good. I’m happy to hear that. And what about jan? Did they find her?

Shawn: I spoke to our contact with the coast guard. They dragged the river all night. There’s no sign of jan.
Belle: What? How’s that possible?
Shawn: The waters were rough. Apparently, she was swept away by the current. They may never find her body.
Belle: Well, it’s also possible she found her way to safety and she’s still out there somewhere.
Shawn: Yeah. Yeah, that’s possible.
Belle: Yeah, and if she is alive and well, the jan spears I know is coming back for you and that baby.
Marlena: Oh. Ej.
Ej: Hello, marlena. Um, is chad around?
Marlena: He took the children to the park. I’m sure you could find him there.
Ej: Oh, that’s all right. I’d rather not provoke him in front of his children.
Marlena: Oh. I heard the two of you had a run-in at the police station last night.
Ej: If rafe hadn’t have been there, I think my brother would have torn me apart.
Marlena: And maybe you would’ve deserved that. Chad told me about your connection to clyde.
Ej: [Sighs] We were in prison together.
Marlena: I think it was more than that. I know that clyde threatened your family and yet, you didn’t warn chad. Or abigail.
Ej: I assure you, marlena, if I thought clyde was going to hurt abigail, I would’ve let them know.
Marlena: I’m not sure I believe you.
Ej: You know, my father always said I was the most like him.
Marlena: Oh! Is that meant to make me feel better?
Ej: For all these faults, father would never let anyone hurt his family. My point is i was convinced that clyde wouldn’t act on his threats. And I kept my mouth shut about his crimes, so therefore, he had no motive to kill abigail.
Marlena: And yet, he’s been arrested for her murder.
Ej: Mm. And the more time i think about it, the less convinced I am he’s guilty. If you ask me, the real murderer is still out there.
Ben: You had abigail’s bracelet. You gave it to your girlfriend.
Clyde: Yeah, it’s a messy coincidence. I bought that bracelet off a guy.
Ben: [Scoffs] What guy?
Clyde: Like I told the cops, I don’t know his name.
Ben: You do realize how convenient that sounds, right?
Clyde: Yeah, course I do, but I’m telling you I didn’t do it. I did not kill abigail, and I swear that on the life of my grandson. Please tell me you believe me!
Ben: I believe you.
Clyde: Well, thank you. You don’t know how much that means to me.
Ben: What did you do to ej dimera?
Clyde: What?
Ben: He’s telling the cops that you were responsible for his shooting. Nine years ago. So… do you swear you had nothing to do with that, either?

Ben: [Scoffs] Even so, all this hanging over your head right now, your parole is definitely gonna be in jeopardy.

Ben: You also know we’re supposed to be leaving today. How the hell am I supposed to do that when you’re facing prison again? Maybe ciara and I should just postpone our trip.
Jake: Looks like clyde weston’s the one who killed abigail. Look, they arrested him last night.
Ava: Oh.
Gwen: So you came here to accuse me of murder?
Ava: Well, it’s not that far-fetched. Your resentment of your sister has been the driving force for most of your adult life.
Gwen: Okay. I had motive, yes.
Jake: Why do you look so relieved?
Ava: [Chuckles] Well, maybe because every time there’s an unsolved crime in this town, I think that rafe’s gonna come after me. And look, the guy is looking for an excuse to throw me behind bars.
Jake: Well, looks like you’re off the hook for this one.
Ava: Yeah. Looks like.
Jake: I gotta say I’m a little thrown off it was clyde. I’d have put my money on gwen.
Leo: They have got this clyde weston dude dead to rights. What are you worried about?
Gwen: Um, I don’t know. Everything.
Leo: He was caught red-handed with abigail’s bracelet.
Gwen: [Sighs] Yes, except that he said he bought it off some rando.
Leo: [Scoffs] What do you expect him to say? Of course he’s gonna throw his suspicion on someone else.
Gwen: Or maybe he was telling the truth and there was someone else. Maybe that rando was you.
Leo: [Scoffs]

Ava: You thought gwen killed abigail? Why?
Jake: Well, gwen’s hated her since day one. Tried on numerous occasion to ruin abigail’s life.
Ava: Yeah, but she is locked up in statesville, right?
Jake: [Chuckles] Or they say.
Gwen: I had motive yes, but you are forgetting means and opportunity.
Ava: Yeah, I’m not so sure about the means, but you certainly had opportunity.
Gwen: Really? Even though i was locked up here last night when the murder happened?
Ava: Gwen. You and I both know that that is not true. What, you have doubts about that?
Jake: Wouldn’t be the first time somebody broke out of that place.
Leo: [Scoffs] I cannot believe you are accusing moi of murder.
Gwen: Come on, matty. We both know that you were in that mansion that night. You could’ve very well killed my sister, stolen the jewelry, and then sold it off to this clyde person. You can tell me if you did it. I won’t judge you for it.
Ej: I know you have to get to the christening. I won’t keep you.
Marlena: Before you go, I– I need to ask about belle.
Ej: Well, as I’m sure you know, she went through a terrible ordeal last night at the docks. She’s pretty shaken up.
Marlena: And I understand she spent most of the night at the hospital.
Ej: Mm-hmm. After which, she went to the police station to answer some questions. By the time she got home, she was exhausted.
Marlena: And did you speak to her?
Ej: She didn’t really want to talk and she left early this morning.
Marlena: I see.
Ej: All I can say is I’m grateful that maniac didn’t hurt her again. If anything had happened to belle, I–[Clears throat]
Marlena: You care about her, don’t you?
Shawn: I promise you if jan pops up, she’s gonna be arrested and she’s gonna be thrown right back into prison. You don’t have to worry about her anymore.
Belle: I will always worry about her.
Shawn: But we’re safe now, belle, because of you.
Belle: Well, we got lucky. I will never forget what I saw down at the docks. Shawn, I didn’t know if you were alive or dead and the look in jan’s eyes. I– she wanted to kill me. And now, I might have killed her.
Shawn: She left you no choice. Okay? You did what you had to do to protect me. I, uh, I spoke to the da and to rafe, and they’re not gonna be pressing charges.
Belle: Oh. That’s a relief. Thank you.
Shawn: I owe you my life, belle. And my son’s life. Look, if anything would’ve happened to you, I would’ve–
Belle: I know. I feel the same way. I keep thinking about that message you left me.
Shawn: And I left it thinking– thinking that that might be the last time you hear my voice.
Belle: Me, too.
Shawn: And I meant it. All right? I meant every word of it. I love you. All right? I love you with all my heart, and I always have and I always will. So hopefully, now jan is finally out of the picture. So what does that mean for you and me? My moderate to severe plaque psoriasis…
Belle: Shawn, I, uh… I don’t know how to answer that question.
Shawn: What? You don’t know how you feel about me?
Belle: It’s just all a lot to take in right now.
Shawn: I know. I know it is. And I–I don’t mean to put you on the spot. But… can you at least tell me if you think that there’s a chance for us?
Belle: How? How can I answer that when we don’t even know if jan’s gone or not.
Shawn: No, jan is gone from our lives one way or another.
Belle: Oh, is she? Really?
[Scoffs] I mean, even if they find her body, you still have her child. I will always love you, shawn. I think I showed you that last night. But I don’t know if I can be a mother to jan spears’ baby.
Ej: Belle has done an incredible job as my attorney, and she’s also become a good friend. I care about her very much.
Marlena: Well, that’s very non-committal. Does sami know about this?
Ej: Samantha’s marrying lucas. She doesn’t care about anything I do.
Marlena: Unless you were the person that kidnapped her.
Ej: I didn’T. I swear.
Marlena: So you’ve said.
Ej: Lucas kidnapped samantha and I’ve tried to convince her of it. But you know your daughter. You can’t tell her anything she doesn’t want to hear.
Marlena: Well, she doesn’t believe it because there is not a bit of evidence against lucas. Look–at the risk of telling you something that you don’t want to hear… belle, um, belle is fragile. She’s going through a lot right now.
Ej: I’m aware. But I also know that she is far from fragile.
Marlena: No, she’s tough. And sometimes, you can be too tough. Look, shawn and belle have had their problems. A lot of them.
Ej: I know all about how shawn lied to her.
Marlena: Look… as far as belle and shawn go, they may be separated, but she loves him. That might be something you want to pay attention to.
Clyde: Postpone the trip? The hell you will.
Ben: Well, now is definitely not the time to be leaving.
Clyde: Now is the perfect time. You gotta get while the getting’s good, man. [Chuckles] If you get a chance to see the world with your wife and son without your old man bringing you down, you gotta take it. Don’t you worry about me. I’m gonna be fine. I am innocent, after all.
Ben: Dad, you got arrested for murder. And now ej dimera is trying his damndest to make sure you get locked up again.
Clyde: Well, it’s just his word against mine, isn’t it?
Ben: [Scoffs]
Clyde: As far as abigail goes, I’m gonna do everything I can to make sure they find the guy who really killed her.
Leo: I didn’t kill anyone. And frankly, I’m offended you think I’m the kind of person would be murder the wife of my little cutie chad all for a couple of trinkets.
Gwen: Matty, we know that you’ve done far worse for far less.
Leo: I didn’t kill anyone. I am not a–
[Door opens] Hello there.
Guard: Hey, rice chex. Don’t forget you have art therapy in an hour.
Gwen: Wouldn’t miss it.
Guard: Good. Don’t want you pulling a disappearing act like you did that night a few weeks ago.
[Door closes]
Leo: What did he just say?
Gwen: Hmm? Oh, he can’t pronounce my last name, so he calls me rice chex.
Leo: No, no, not that part. What did he mean by disappearing act? Okay, this is a freezer, not a time capsule.
Gwen: Well, I really ought to go. Don’t want to miss art therapy.
Leo: Are you going to explain what that guard was talking about?
Gwen: [Chuckles] It’s no big deal. I missed bed check once ’cause I was catching up on– on reading in the library and i lost track of time.
Leo: Or maybe you figured a way out of this dump for a little change of scenery.
Gwen: Oh, that does sound lovely, but they do tend to frown upon that around here.
Leo: Interesting.
Gwen: Is it?
Leo: Just wondering if the night in question happens to be the same night that abigail was killed.
Gwen: Hmm. Couldn’t tell you.
Leo: Guardy mcguardface said it was a couple of weeks ago.
Gwen: Pfft. Not very specific, is it?
Leo: And yet, the timing does work out.
Gwen: So I killed abigail, then. Is that your theory?
Leo: Well, it would explain why you’re accusing me.
Gwen: Clyde weston claimed that he got that bracelet off of some guy. Kind of rules me out, doesn’t it?
Leo: I mean, put on a suit, fake beard.
Gwen: [Scoffing laugh] Oh, really? You think that I would dress up as a man just to fool him?
Leo: I would not put it past you. But there is another explanation. Maybe whoever took abigail’s bracelet isn’t the same person who killed her.
Ava: I think if gwen broke out of prison, we would’ve heard about it. You know, those things tend to get a bit of attention.
[Both chuckle]
Jake: I guess you’re right.
Ava: [Chuckles] Yeah, from what I heard, clyde is a career lowlife.
Jake: Eh. Still, I feel bad for ben, you know? He really believed in the guy.
Ava: Hmm. People let you down, jake.
Jake: Hmm. Don’t I know it?
Ava: [Sighs]
Jake: Anyway, hope this doesn’t ruin ben’s plans.
Ava: Yeah, what plans?
Jake: Oh, he and ciara are leaving salem today. Taking that baby, sailing around the world.
Ava: Wow. Very romantic.
Ben: It is. Especially after everything they’ve been through. Hey…

Jake: Maybe–maybe–
Ava: Yeah?
Jake: We should take a trip somewhere.
Ava: You wanna sail around the world with me?
Jake: Okay, slow down, slow down. Start a little smaller, all right?
[Laughter] Is there somewhere you’ve always wanted to visit and never have?
Ava: Mm… you know, I would like to go to seattle and visit tripp.
Jake: Ah.
Ava: We could just stop by and then maybe go somewhere more private. They say the san juan islands are very beautiful this time of year.
Jake: Mm. Well, you are beautiful all year round.
Ava: You know that was a cheesy line, right?
Jake: I do. I’m sorry.
Ava: Yeah, but somehow, it actually worked.
Jake: Yeah?
Ava: Mm-hmm.
Shawn: And I have no right to expect you to be a mother to my son. But belle, I hope you understand that I have to be his father.
Belle: Of course I do. But no matter how we feel about each other, shawn, there’s just–there’s a huge obstacle between us.
Shawn: Maybe there’s more than one.
Belle: What do you mean?
Shawn: Look, I don’t think that this baby is the only thing that’s keeping distance between you and I. I think it’s ej, also.
Belle: Well, I don’t think that this is the time or place to talk about that, so.
Shawn: Okay. Okay, fine. Look, I’m gonna go check on my son and then I’m gonna head down to the docks to say goodbye to ciara.
Belle: Ben and ciara are still leaving today?
Shawn: Yeah, as far as I know. I mean, you’re welcome to come down and see them off.
Belle: Down at the docks?
Shawn: Yeah, I mean unless it’s too soon for you to go back down there.
Belle: Yeah, I think it’s best I don’T. But give ciara my love. Goodbye, shawn.
Shawn: Goodbye, belle.
[Elevator bell rings]
Ej: I’m well-versed in belle’s complicated situation.
Marlena: Yes, well, you’re no stranger to complicated romantic situations.
Ej: There’s nothing complicated about samantha and me now. We’re divorced, co-parents, and nothing else.
Marlena: Uh, belle is married. And there’s no telling where this will end up with shawn and belle.
Ej: Is this your subtle way of telling me to stay away from your daughter?
Marlena: Oh, no. Belle’s a grown woman. I’m just saying you should be careful.
Ej: Duly noted.
Marlena: I’m so glad we understand each other. Now, I’ve got a christening to go to.
Clyde: Now, don’t you have a christening to get to? Or a boat to catch?
Ben: Dad…
Clyde: [Chuckling] Hey. You go on and live your life. You deserve it. And just make me one promise, will you?
Ben: Of course.
Clyde: Find a way to keep in touch. And, uh, send me a lot of photos of that little guy, will ya? I gotta watch my grandson growing up one way or another.
Ben: You got it, dad.
Clyde: I’m proud of you. You’re a good man. You’re gonna be a great daddy. No thanks to me.
Ben: Appreciate that, dad. Thank you. Probably get back to your cell now, huh?
Clyde: Oh, I gotta make a call.
Ben: Here, just use my phone.
Clyde: No. I don’t want you to be late. Go on now. Take care of yourself. And the little guy.

[Ben exhales deeply]
Bo: [Cooing]
Ciara: Hey.
Victor: I know why you’re here. I know why you’re both here.
Ciara: [Chuckles] Let me guess. Julie called you.
Victor: Yes, the town crier alerted me to the fact that you’re about to make another impulsive decision.
Ciara: One that you don’t approve of?
Victor: You know, there was a time when I would say you were making a huge mistake, throwing away your life. But now you’re a mother. And at the end of the day, it’s family that counts.
Ciara: So are you saying that you finally approve of me and ben as family?
Victor: Old age has a way of softening you. I enjoy an evening with maggie and I get a lot more pleasure from it than closing the biggest deal ever at titan.
Ciara: Mm. Just like this little guy does for me now.
Victor: You know, I can’t tell you how happy I am that you named him bo.
Ciara: I am, too.
Victor: Which reminds me. You know, you’re not the first person who’s left me to go travel the world. Just make sure you come back.
Ciara: I will.
Victor: And when you do, make damn sure that I’m the first one you come to visit.
Ciara: [Laughing] Yeah, of course I will, grandpa.
Victor: I love you, sweetheart.

Gwen: Why are we arguing about this, matty? Look, they’ve got somebody in custody. They have a violent, convicted felon.
Leo: Occam’s razor says the simplest answer is usually the right one.
Gwen: [Sighs] So we can stop worrying now, right?
Leo: Cheers to that, guinevere. [Chuckles] Now go make something fun in art therapy.

[Mysterious music]

Jake: Oh, I gotta say. I did not get to spend many mornings like this when I was ceo.
[Both chuckle]
Ava: Perks of the lifestyle.
Jake: Yeah, right? Well, I do have to get up soon.
Ava: No.
Jake: Told ben and ciara I’d go see them off at the docks.
Ava: Mm. All right. Wish them the best from me, all right?
Jake: I will. And hey, why don’t you start planning that trip, huh?
Ava: Okay.
[Soft dramatic music]
Bernard: Ciara, ben.
Bo: [Cooing]
Ciara: Lord, you blessed us with the joy of being parents the moment that bo was born. And I thank you for every moment that we’re gonna get to spend with him and all the love that we so graciously share.
Ben: And we pray that you always stay close to him throughout his entire life and may you guide us through parenthood and help us always keep him in your life.
Bernard: Amen. We pray that bo grows up in faith and love and lives a long, happy, and productive life as a member of this family and god’s family. Will the godparents please step forward?
Bo: [Cooing]
Bernard: Marlena?
Bo: [Coos]
Marlena: Ben and ciara know how I feel about them. How proud I am of them. And how certain I am they’re going to be amazing parents to this little baby. I promise that I will be there for him whenever he needs for whatever he needs. And I will protect him with all my heart and soul.
Bernard: Rafe?
Rafe: Well, um–[Chuckles] I just want to say how honored i am to be little bo’s godfather. And, um, ciara, I’ve always considered you my daughter in every way that counts. Well, I promise to always consider bo like my son. And I promise to protect him from evil for all the days of his life.

Belle: Well, there’s no sign of jan, but shawn and the baby are okay.

Ej: That’s an understatement. I can’t tell you how relieved I am that you’re all right. When I thought that I could lose you, I– what can I do to make this better? Tell me. What can I do? This is the sound of better breathing.
Clyde: Hey, nancy. Um, don’t know if you’re in the middle of something or if you just don’t want to talk to me, in which case I completely understand. But I just wanted you to hear this from me. Everything that i told the police is the god’s honest truth. I swear. That guy that I bought the bracelet from, he’s real, he’s out there. And I’m gonna find him… if it’s the last thing I do.
Leo: Hey. I was wondering. That night that you mentioned to my friend gwen? Rice chex? The night she pulled a disappearing act, as you said? Was that june 10th by any chance?
Guard: Hell if I remember.
[Suspenseful music]
Belle: I, uh, I didn’t get a lot of sleep last night, so I’m gonna go take a shower and go lay down for a little while.
Ej: I understand. Just know that I’m here for you if you need me.

Gwen: Ava, it’s me.
Ava: I figured. Why are you calling?

Ava: No. Yeah, but you know, I still don’t know where you were the night you broke out of prison. June 10th, if I recall.
Shawn: Look, I’m really sorry I missed the christening. I was at the hospital.
Ciara: No, it’s okay. It’s fine. You’re busy being a daddy to your own baby.

Marlena: It was lovely.

Rafe: Actually, I set up a video conference for all your friends and family who can’t be here for on the boat, okay? I showed doug and julie how to actually stay in camera.
Ciara: Oh, my god, that’s great.
Rafe: Yeah.

Rafe: Well, I’m a godfather, you know?
