THIS STILL NEEDS EXTENSIVE EDITING!
I figured you would want your old friend cody to see the best of port charles, considering the rude reception he’s had so far. Hmm. You know, cody’s a good guy, and it has been really good catching up with him. But, uh, you know, that dude, he got in a lot of trouble when we were kids, and he’s still kind of doing the same thing now. Hey. Sorry I’m late, guys. All good. Hi.
[ Groans ] Ribs still bothering you? I’m better every day. Huh. You really took a beating. Sure you don’t want to see another doctor? I mean, there is one doc I wouldn’t mind seeing again. Britt: Hello. Can I get a lemonade? Still taking a break from the booze? I’d like to avoid the possibility of another gif. You know how sorry I am about that. I know. I wouldn’t mind hearing it again. Ah. Oh, no. Spencer cassadine is the last thing I need right now. Brad, please be a friend and go get rid of him for me. On it. Ah-da-da-da. Right over here. Don’t make a scene. But the lady doesn’t want to be disturbed. Who, britt? I wasn’t looking for her. No, I saw your post on social media about you meeting up with your bestie. I’m here looking for you. I need your help with my girlfriend. Okay, that sentence has never been said to me before. Color me intrigued. Officer cabrera. If I were a cop, I’d pull you over. What’s the charge, ms. Prince? Oh, arson, of course. You are looking
muy caliente. Am I now? Where are you off to, trina? Oh, um, I’m meeting joss. And before you ask, no, we’re not going to go look for the guy that sold esmé the phone. Oh, I’m not second-guessing your instincts. In fact, your father and i had quite the talk about it. Good, because the time for talk is over. I need to do something, and I need to do it now.
[ Groans ] To think, my gorgeous and talented son would rather be up to his elbows in engine grease than become a tycoon in a downtown high rise. I —
[ Scoffs ] I’d settle if you were a philanthro–phil– what is it? Philodendron? That’s a house plant. Philanthropist. That’s it. I mean, come on. Your wife is rolling in the big deception bucks. You can be anything you want now. Ma… …I am doing what I want, and I’m happy. Because your wife is rolling in all that money? No. Because she’s just sasha, and that’s all I want. That’s all I need. Willow only fainted for a moment. Dr. Obrecht was there to help revive her, and sonny was a big help getting her here. If we had left it up to willow, she would have insisted on going home. Well, thank you for overruling her and bringing her here. If anything is seriously wrong with willow, I blame myself. Wait, wait, wait. Are you sure? There’s no doubt about it. Willow, you are pregnant. Oh, it is so nic eto be able to give good news. I mean, this is good news, isn’t it?
I just wasn’t expecting you to say… that you are expecting? Because you are. How far along am I? Just a few weeks. But the last time I fainted was three months ago. So why did i pass out then? Well, I don’t have to tell you this, nurse tate, but there could be many reasons, which is why I’m curious to see what comes of the other tests. Okay? Okay. Thanks. Any other questions? Just one. Where’s michael? How is it your fault that willow fainted? This isn’t the first time. And given all the stress that willow’s been under ever since you found out that harmony’s not her mom — I should have made things easier for her. But instead, it’s been all this stress and tension, starting with that hearing with nina about wiley. Nina initiated that hearing, not you. Yeah, so then — then there was the whole elq battle going on and I…
[ Sighs ] We were supposed to go to paris, then I punched a reporter in the face, then we had to postpone that. I’m really — I’m making this all about myself, aren’t I? I bet you don’t miss all the corinthos drama, huh? I think we both got lucky. You found willow, and I found brando. Ma, I told you, I’m not trading my garage for some desk job. And no one, not sasha, not me,
[ Tools clinking ] Not even sonny wants me to sign on with corinthos coffee. Oh, you misunderstand me, brando. Sure, I have my own dreams for my child. What parent doesn’t? But I’ve learned a lot since we first came to port charles, and the corinthos name only takes you so far — not to mention, at a price.
[ Laughs ] Wow. That took a while, but I am glad that you finally understand that now. Listen, I admire that you want to be your own boss and your own man. Well, I appreciate the vote of confidence. But listen, since deception went public and your wife landed in a different tax bracket, something has to change. Okay, well, look, if this isn’t about the garage, what is it about? Your poor mother toiling as brook lynn quartermaine’s assistant. That woman gives me so much grief. I’m thinking it’s time for me to give my two weeks’ notice. Now it’s official. My court date has been set. Then we better get to work fast. We? Yeah, of course. I appreciate that, but didn’t you give up your P.I. License? I did. But I’m not giving up on you. It sounds me like you two could use some help. Where do I sign up? Is this chair taken? Oh, excuse me, um… can I please have an ice-cold lemonade? Oh, actually, you know what? Make that two. One for me and, uh, one for pc’s finest.
[ Scoffs ] You’re buying me a drink? Why? So I can fix a parking ticket for you? Oh, I don’t have a car. Um, I usually just take rideshares, but I would never dream of bribing an officer. However, I do have a favor you might be able to help me with. I knew it. The lemonade comes with strings attached. What is it you think I can do for you? Mm. I am planning on graduating from pcu with a degree in psychology, with a concentration in abnormal psych. You aim high, ms. Prince. Please, call me esmé. All my friends do. And you’re right. I do aim high. I’m not sure how I can help you. Let me explain. Up until recently, I was an intern at spring ridge minimum security prison, where the the notorious ryan chamberlain is a prisoner. I’m aware. So then you’re also aware of his condition, where he’s trapped inside his body? His mind’s still there, but he has limited communication. However, using a letter board, I’ve been able to reach him and communicate with him. Though dr. Kevin collins, ryan’s twin brother and my boyfriend’s step-grandfather, has barred me from spring ridge altogether. Why would he do that? Dr. Collins says it’s for my own safety, but I know better. He has it out for me. Even if that’s true, I’m not sure what you’re asking me to do. I was hoping someone with a better grasp of the law could help me formulate a workaround. You used to work at the lab at gh, right? Yeah, so? So I could use your help, and I’d be willing to pay for the expertise. I don’t follow. What does my expertise have anything to do with your girlfriend? That is a good question, brad. I thought you wanted me to handle this guy. Changed my mind. Great. I could use your help, too. Enough with the double talk, spencer. If you don’t leave in 20 seconds, I will throw you out. So, cody, don’t take this the wrong way, but for a guy who’s only been in town for a few days, you have found yourself your fair share of trouble, I’d say. And I’m not just talking about the guys who beat you up. I get the feeling that britt westbourne would like to sue you for all you’re worth. Well, she’s more than willing to try, but I don’t have anything to give her.
[ Laughs, coughs ] Ouch. Dude, you’re obviously still in pain. Why don’t we id these guys who beat you up? Dante, I appreciate the offer, but like I said — yeah, the alley was dark and you couldn’t make out the faces. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I get it. But you know what? Maybe you’ll pick the wrong game next time and you’ll end up in a morgue instead of an alleyway. Samantha, dante? Always a delight. Spinelli. Oh, spinelli, hey, this is cody. This is dante’s childhood friend. Cody, this is — damian spinelli. You two know each other? Oh, yes, very well. Should you tell them, or do you want me to?
Damian, we mightas well come clean. When I parachuted into the metro court pool, mr. Spinelli here reached out to me and offered me help. Oh, yeah? Helped him what? Well, damian spinelli here is apparently an expert in directional finders and pinpoint calculations. At least, he claims to be. Yeah, he says that he’ll make my next jump a lot safer for everyone. Did I get that right, damian? Yes, that — that is right. I — I couldn’t have said it better myself. Happy landings to you, mr. Bell. And with that, I must depart. Hey, whoa, whoa. You are not going anywhere. Oh, britt, I thought you’d know by now that I don’t respond well to threats. You’re intruding on a rare day off for me. Getting rid of you is not a threat. It’s a promise. Okay, fine. So you want me to cut to the chase, tell you why I’m here? I was offering brad a business proposition. I don’t think it’s a big — oh, don’t believe spencer is any kind of innocent. I helped him identify a medication that belonged to his friend, and all I got in return was a verbal slap in the face about what a pathetic single I was. Brad, would you please give me and britt a moment? It’s clear that I need to make an apology. I’ll be right at the bar if she needs me. Okay. Understood. Make it fast. There is no fast way to tell you how truly sorry I am for the horrible and hurtful things that I have said to you, okay? I am truly embarrassed by my behavior, and I have always considered you a genuine friend of mine. And I went out of my way to try to hurt you. That was thoughtless. That was cruel, and I am sorry. And if you never wanted to speak to me again, I would understand, britt. I’m sorry. Almost sounded like you had remorse. Very un-cassadine-like. I mean it. I was way out of line when I threw your love life or lack thereof in your face. You know what, spencer? I always thought we had a real connection, too. So why were you so brutal with me? Do you have any idea what that did to me? It sent you to a singles mixer where you got knocked in the pool by a skydiver. I saw the gif. Yeah, you and thousands of others. Please believe me, britt. There’s so much more to this story than you know. And I know that in the adult world, there is no such thing as a do-over, but, boy, would I like a second chance right now. You’re right about one thing. There’s no such thing as a do-over for adults. And as lovely as that apology was, and it sounds like you meant it, let’s get real. As long as you’re hooked up with the likes of esmé prince, I cannot trust you. Rory: Thank you. That’s for you. Thank you. I believe in tipping well. Don’t you agree? Very generous. Except when the staff isn’t allowed to accept. That’s always awkward.
[ Chuckles ] You see, I went to school in europe, so I’m still learning the american ways. Oh. Well, then, let me give you some free advice. The help you’re looking for, to find a workaround to get back into spring ridge — you need a lawyer, not a cop. My experience is, lawyers are expensive and they bill by the hour, whereas cops get things done. And, hey, that saying is true. There’s something about a man in uniform. Well, just to be clear, I am off duty and out of uniform. Well, that doesn’t mean you can’t help a citizen in distress, right? I mean, I love my work at spring ridge, and I’m determined to continue working there. And how can I do that if dr. Collins won’t give me a chance? Well, I’m not sure if you know this, but I’m a rookie cop and have basically zero power. So you won’t help me? Trina: Joss and I were tracking down proof that esmé framed me. I can’t help you, but I know someone that can. Really? That would be great. Yeah, just give me your phone, and I’ll put my friend’s number into it. It’s so obvious that you and brando have found happiness, you know? And not to mention everything you’ve done as the face of deception. That is an out-of-the-ballpark success. I’m only a partner because you negotiated such a great deal for me. It was my pleasure. Deception is lucky to have you, and now I’ve seen your photos everywhere, and word on the street is that you’re going to be on the home & heart network. I mean, that is — that is amazing. I’m — I’m really proud of everything you accomplished. That’s really sweet of you to say, michael, thank you. Michael? Hey, T.J. How’s willow? She’s asking to see you. So she’s — she’s okay? I think so. But it’s better if you see for yourself. That was a pretty vague answer. Should I stick around just in case? Michael and willow have a lot to discuss, but once they’re done, I think willow would enjoy your company. She’s in room 1001. Deanna, hey, could you set up an ob consult for room 1001? Of course, doctor. Hey. Hey. T.J. Said you wanted to talk to me? He seemed to think that you were okay, but he didn’t give me any details. I don’t know — it was thoughtful of T.J. To let me break the news myself, because I do have something to tell you.
Cody: Yeah. We’re all friends here, or we will be, right? Uh, yeah, I’m just going to need to take a r-rain check, because I really need to go — um, work thing. You know with my business, it’s either feast or famine, and now duty calls. Nice guy. Crazy smart. A bit skittish, though.
[ Cellphone chimes ] Oh, damn it. Problem? Remember that gig I had lined up? [ Sighs ] I just lost it. Well, that’s okay, man. You just stick around here a little longer. I told you, dante, I don’t want your charity. Well, first of all, my couch is not charity. And second of all, I’m not inviting you to camp out indefinitely. It’s just until you find something. Britt’s been involved in some shady stuff, man, and that’s not even talking about the fact that she went on the run with her father. On the run? Like, fugitive from justice? Yeah. Okay. Who’s her father? Does the name cesar faison ring a bell? You know what? Maybe sticking around isn’t such a bad idea. I could try and find a job here. Dante, I will take you up on that offer. Thank you. I am honestly and deeply sorry for the things that I’ve said to you, britt. Okay, don’t try so hard, okay? The more you apologize, the less effective it is. See, there’s the britt that I know and love. And the truth is, if there’s anyone that I can confide in, it’s you. Because you’ve always been honest with me, even when it hurts. Okay. But you leave brad out of this. Tell me what you need, and I will let you know
if I can help you. Okay, I’m ready. What’s your friend’s name and number? Are you afraid to give me your phone? How can you ask for my help and then actively not trust me? Rory? What’s going on? That’s exactly what I’d like to know. T.J.! Hey, uncle. How you doing, man? Good. I’m just here to see how my grandfather’s doing. I’ll be better once we can figure out how to prove trina’s innocence. Was this your idea, to work together? We’re family. We should work together. No, no, no. Absolutely not. Am I right, uncle? Actually, you’re wrong, T.J. Trina needs all the help that we can muster. Guys, let’s put an end to this, once and for all.
[ Sighs ] I’d ad vise you againstquitting your job. Why not? It’s beneath me.
Way beneath me.
[ Chuckles ] Okay. Plus, I mean, I already have everything I need. Ma, I love you, but this isn’t a permanent situation. I never said it was. But as long as sasha is mourning little liam — sasha and I have to carry that grief with us for the rest of our lives, and we have to figure out how. Hopefully, one day, we’ll have another child. But in the meantime, we need the time and the space to get back to normal. Do I need to remind you that sasha’s version of normal includes a temptation to fall back on those pills? Okay, and sasha swears that that is in her past, and I believe her. Or is this really about you needing to feel needed? Yes, I need to order an ob consult for room 1001. Willow’s room? Sometimes I can’t help but envy you. Confirming to a woman that she’s pregnant has to be your favorite part of the job, right? Okay, great. Thanks.
[ Elevator dings ] Michael… look, whatever T.J. Told you, we’ll get a second opinion, a third opinion, whatever it takes. I don’t think that will be necessary. I know you’re trying to be — you’re trying to be strong. You don’t have to be. Whatever this is, we’re gonna get through it together, alright? I would hope so. Because I’m not sick, michael. I’m pregnant.
Janssen can help you explore cost support options. N’t get me wrong, man.I want you stick around. I just want to make sure that the reason you want to stay isn’t because you want to get revenge on whoever did this to you. Britt? Nah, nah. I’m a lover, not a fighter. You’ve already met someone here in town? No, no, nothing like that. Um…actually, right now, I just kind of want to sit in the sun and let my poor, battered body heal. But I-I can’t afford a pool pass. Well, you don’t need one. Just tell them you’re my guest. Really? Thank you, sam. I appreciate that. I’ll go check it out right now, if that’s cool?
[ Groans ] That was, uh… really nice of you. Well, he’s your friend. Then what else is going on? Okay, I was thinking while he was laying in the sun, we could figure out why spinelli was so anxious to get away from him. Oh, unfortunately, zelda, mr. Bell is causing trouble again. There — mm, there must be a way to rid ourselves of — oh, there is. Hang up. I’ll tell you. I don’t know how much you know about esmé’s background. She was adopted as a baby, and her adoptive parents died when she was still just a kid. I had no idea. She’s desperate to find her biological parents. Now, I’m no shrink, but I suspect that it’s the not knowing who she really is and where she came from that’s the root of all of her problems. Now, if we had a dna test that could determine her parentage, it might make all the difference. So is this some kind of gift for your girlfriend? Yeah. Yeah, you could think of it like that. Suppose that, um, I don’t know, what if we had two dna samples that we could compare? Are you saying that you have those samples? No, I’m saying, what if? Please, britt, before we go any further, I need to know. Will you help me? Rory, why does it look like you two have your heads together? Oh. Well, esmé was just picking my brain to see if there was a way to continue her internship at spring ridge. I told her that I couldn’t help but knew someone that could. I offered to put their name and number in esmé’s phone, but esmé wouldn’t trust me with her phone. Can you believe that? I’ve, um, had enough sun for today. He’s all yours.
[ Scoffs ] Okay, what did i just walk in on? A beginning. Esmé knows that I know what she knows. You told her? I served notice. Big difference. Who you calling? Jack. Who’s jack? My trumpet player. Hey, jack! What’s cracking, baby? This is marshall. No, no, no. I’m sorry. I’m not calling about a gig. Although I do have a request. It’s not a musical one, though. Tell me something, baby. You still plugged in like that? Yeah. Black market commodities. Cellphones, can’t be traced. No questions asked. Some people have grandfathers that read them bedtime stories. I am not mad at marshall pulling out all the stops. Trina’s future is at stake, and it looks like your grandfather’s just the right man. I’m listening, baby. Tell me something I can use, now. Gladys: Don’t you know by now that I think of sasha as my daughter? And whatever’s good enough for the two of you is good enough for me. And if you don’t believe me, maybe you’re right. Maybe it is time I moved out. Nobody wants you to move out, gladys. Brando and i are counting on you, aren’t we, brando? Whatever you say, honey. You know mrs. Myerson’s son harold won the lottery? And what was the first thing he did? Bought his mom a condo in boca. So if you want to be rid of me, I’m up for my own condo. Ma, nobody wants to get rid of you, okay? Hold up, didn’t you just take willow to the hospital? How is she? Say something. Um, I… are you sure that you’re pregnant? I mean, we — we’ve been so careful. I know, I thought so, too, but still, it happens.
[ Exhales sharply ] What am I doing? You’re pregnant. Michael, michael. Hey, you don’t have to pretend for me. Is this something you want? What do you mean? I-I mean, the plan is for me to graduate from nursing school and then, you know, be a nurse for a few years, so… do you want this baby? I mean, I’m — I’m still processing everything. I mean, we’re obviously not married. Wiley’s been our whole world, and we haven’t even discussed giving him a sibling. But I mean, do I want this baby? Willow, hell yes. Do you want this baby?
You know, cody’s a pretty charming guy. He makes a lot of jokes, makes a lot of friends. And the trouble that he finds himself in or creates, you know, he always finds a way to handle the consequences of it, good or bad, you know? Yeah, but you knew him a long time ago. Do you think he’s the same way? I don’t know. I mean, he seems to be. But it’s weird. Like, it seems like he’s got to settle down and stop drifting, right? I don’t know. Who knows? Maybe he will stick around long enough and find a partner as wonderful as you did. No, that can’t happen. There’s no way lightning could strike twice like that. I will not be subjected to another shake-up. Look, man, pretty sure it’s a shake-down, but relax, damian. I’m not trying to milk you for any more money. What — what do you want? Think of it… think of it like an investment. In what? Yours truly. Now, here’s what you’re going to do. Trina: Look, I know you’re a cop and you’ve had all kinds of training, but when it comes to esmé, you need to watch out. She’s wickedly smart. Emphasis on wicked. I appreciate the heads up, but don’t you have enough on your plate to worry about? Your case is going to trial soon, right? Unfortunately, yes. I thought I’d be excited to see the day in court, but… I still don’t have proof that esmé set me up. Well, until you walk into that courtroom, every second counts. Spence, I’m so glad to see you. Spence, what is it? What’s wrong? Jack, you’re more down than four flat tires. You’re the best, baby. I knew I could count on you. Aw, man, you’re talking —
[ Laughs ] I’ll talk to you soon. Alright. I got a name and an address of a guy who deals in black market cellphones. I am impressed with your network of people. Hey, you know how the music business is. It’s not the most stable industry. Everybody got to have a ham or a hustle to survive. I suppose so. I’ll just need that name and address. Oh, nice try. Nice try, son. T.J., Tell your uncle ain’t no way in hell he going anywhere without me. Do I want this baby? Are you kidding? Ever since my mom — ever since harmony died and I found out she wasn’t my biological mother, all I’ve done is stress. So when I fainted again, in the back of my mind, I expected T.J. To tell me that I had some serious illness. When he told me I was pregnant, it was the last thing I expected. But after the initial shock, I thought back to the first time I ever held wiley and how incredibly happy I was. Now our family is expanding. I didn’t know my heart could get any bigger, but it did. Suddenly, there’s not just room for you and wiley, but I’m in love with a baby I’ve never even met. I don’t know if it’s a girl or a boy. I don’t know its name. I don’t know what it looks like, but… I’m in love. So am I. And wiley will always be our firstborn and always have a special place in my heart, but… I’m pregnant, michael. With your baby.
Our baby. I’ve never wanted anything more in my life. Sasha, you look upset. What did, uh — what did the doctor say about willow? Is she sick? No. I don’t know. Um, michael is with her now. All I know is T.J. Said it wasn’t serious. Um, I think it’s probably time to head on home, don’t you think? I made a lasagna earlier. Just got to heat it up. Unless my rich daughter-in-law wants to spring for dinner at the port charles grill, I can throw the lasagna in the freezer. You know I love your lasagna, ma.
[ Cellphone ringing ] I need to take this. You guys go on home. My car’s out front. I’ll meet you there.
[ Ringing continues ] Uh-huh. Okay. See you at home? Mm-hmm.
[ Ringing continues ] What do you want? Is that any way to greet an old friend? I have connections. I can get you what you need.
[ Cellphone chimes ]
Just sent you a number. Give me a call, sooner rather than later. It’ll be our little secret. Okay. I’m listening.
You know, I hope cody realizes how lucky he is to have a friend like you. I’m the lucky one, ’cause I got you. Though things have, uh — have changed. How so? Well, when we were kids, you know, I envied cody and the way he got around people. And what’s different about today? Today, I don’t envy cody at all. No, no, I cannot do that. It’s — it’s so… manipulative. This is nothing compared to what I’ve already seen you do. Okay, just do this one little thing for me, and we’re square. I just — I just don’t want to see anyone get hurt. Do I look like the type of guy who goes around hurting people? No. Come on. Trust me. When this is all done and my ship comes in, everyone will come out ahead. Lemonade, just like you ordered. Unless you’d like a sidecar of tequila and a salt shaker. Don’t tempt me. Mm-hmm. I can only assume spencer is the one who has you wavering?
[ Sighs ] He needs help if he’s going to get his girlfriend what she wants. You turned him down, right? I could lie and say I did, but against my better judgment, I said yes. I’m not warning you because i think you’re naive or gullible. I’m warning you because that’s how awful esmé is. You don’t want to make an enemy out of her, and you’ve already stuck your neck out once for me. You really, really should not get involved. It’s a little late for that. Well, look at that. Maybe trina has fully moved on from obsessing about you, spence. I can see I’m not gonna get anywhere trying to talk you out of this. See, you’re learning. Like you said, clock is ticking. We gonna do this? We are in this together. Hey, count me in for whatever you need. Anything for trina. This is all so new and unexpected. It’s more than I ever let myself dream about. I mean, I have you and wiley, and now, our very own baby. Michael, I can’t ask for anything more. Neither can I, willow. Neither can I. What do you care if I appear on home & heart shopping channel? I don’t really give a damn, but your adoring public does. To cover your appearance, I’m going to need credentials. And for some strange reason, they won’t grant me access.
[ Scoffs ] Imagine that. I knew this was a waste of time. Thanks for nothing. Wait. Yes? Liam mike corbin. You were here for such a short time, but you made quite the impact. And you were so, so loved. I have to believe that you have felt that. And I hope with everything in me that you still do. Maybe I can help you… if you can help me and return.
