Ciara: Hello? Why aren’t they open? Oh, ben. Hi.

Ciara: Hi, sweetie. Your dad told me that you were at work.
Ben: I was, but I needed to get parts for an engine rebuild. What are you doing?
Ciara: Well, allie told me that the cake for the party would be ready today, but sweet bits isn’t even open.
Ben: Agh. Well, we can’t have a gender reveal party without a cake.
Ciara: I know. I wonder where allie could be.
Johnny: Somebody, please. Help me.
[Eerie music]
Abigail: What would allie be doing in a crypt? Not gonna know unless I go in there.
Chanel: Horton, I am so glad you’re here. I was afraid something really bad happened to you.
Allie: I’m fine.
Chanel: Thank god you’re home.

Ben: How about I take you to breakfast?
Ciara: No breakfast. Even though your dad insisted on making me eggs, which I hardly touched. I think I may’ve hurt his feelings.
Ben: He’ll get over it.
Ciara: And he is falling all over himself to try to be helpful. He wants to build the baby a cradle.
Ben: I don’t remember that guy building me anything, except maybe a drink.
Ciara: Yeah, well, he told me that he learned woodworking in prison.
Ben: Yeah, he’s definitely trying a little too hard.
Ciara: Yeah, because he’s determined to be in the baby’s life. And, ben, I’m sorry, I don’t like that idea at all.
Clyde: So when did you get out?
Ej: This morning. My attorney had the conviction overturned.
Clyde: On what grounds?
Ej: She was able to prove that I’d been framed.
Clyde: [Chuckles] And I’m your first stop. Well, I’m so flattered.
Ej: You were not my first stop. And this visit is anything but flattering.
Clyde: Everything that needed to be said between you and i got said back in statesville.
Ej: That arrangement you dictated while in prison doesn’t work for me now that I’m free. I’m here to renegotiate.
Abigail: [Screams]
Chad: Sorry.
Abigail: You just scared the hell out of me.
Chad: I’m sorry. I just– I looked outside the window and saw that you were headed over to this place and I wondered what you were up to.
Abigail: I’m not up to anything, I’m just looking for allie. Do you remember yesterday when I saw the french doors were wide open and allie was gone? No one has heard from her since last night, so I looked out the window and I saw footprints and I just–I followed them here.
Chad: Okay. One question, nancy drew. What reason would allie have for being inside the crypt?
Johnny: Focus. Just find a way out of here. The devil–oh, my god, he’s after allie and chanel.
Allie: Dupree, I’m fine.
Chanel: Really?
Allie: Sorry I worried you.
Chanel: Well, nicole was worried too. Are you sure you’re all right?
Allie: Yes.
Chanel: Okay, well, then tell me what happened to you.
Allie: Johnny, I will never let you go, but you need to fight. Okay, you need to fight to come back to me, okay? We can fight together. We will send this son of a bitch straight back to hell!
Chanel: Well? Tell me.
Shawn: Oh my god, belle, you know that I never meant to sleep with jan. You know that this baby– this baby is my worst nightmare too.

Belle: I’m going back to the office.
Shawn: Wh–after you’re done with work, I mean, we’re gonna keep talking though, right?
Belle: I don’t think that there’s anything left to say. So I’m gonna go back to my parents’ tonight.
Shawn: But I thought that was just for last night. What does this mean? Are you– look, are you moving out? Are you– are you leaving me? I have moderate to severe plaque psoriasis.
Shawn: No, no, you can’t– you can’t do this. Come on, the devil’s been playing with both of our heads.
Belle: Did the devil keep you from telling me that you had sex with jan spears?
Shawn: I explained to you why I didn’t tell you.
Belle: Oh, right, of course, ’cause you wanted to forget it and just pretend like it never happened.
Shawn: Yes, because I was tricked; I was tricked in the worst possible way. And I was–I was horrified. And I was–I was humiliated. You know what, let me remind you, okay, I’m not the first one in this marriage to sleep with someone and then lie about it.
Belle: Are you really going there right now?
Shawn: Listen, when I– look, I slept with jan, I thought it was you. When you slept with philip, look, you knew what exactly what you were doing.
Johnny: Uh, now that we’ve made our big announcement, what do you say we put these back on? May I?
Chanel: May I?
Johnny: Of course. I love you, mrs. Dimera.

[Dramatic music]
Chad: You don’t know that those are allie’s footprints.
Abigail: Well, if they’re not, then she’s missing. I’m just gonna look in there and make sure she’s not inside.
Chad: Okay, fine. I’ll go with you.
[Cellphone beeps]
Abigail: It’s chanel. Allie’s home; she’s fine.
Chanel: Yes. Yes, allie’s here and she’s fine. Yeah. Okay. All right, thank you for everything, nicole.
Allie: Why was nicole so worried? I sent her a text. I told her I wasn’t coming home.
Chanel: Yeah, but then you texted me and you said you would be here.
Allie: I just wanted to be alone.
Chanel: Okay, well, we didn’t know that, and I even went by the dimera mansion earlier.
Allie: Why?
Chanel: Why do you think? I was trying to figure out where the hell you were. And I asked abigail if she had seen you.
Allie: What’d she say?
Chanel: She said that you came there looking for johnny.
Allie: And I found him.
Chanel: Okay. So? What happened?
Ciara: [Sighs] Oh, baby, I hope there’s nothing wrong with the cake. Mm. What time is it? Wow, shoot, I have to head to shawn and belle’S. Shawn promised that he would help my grandma julie with the decorations for the party.
Ben: Mm. Okay. I was gonna say maybe I could ask my dad for help, but that’s probably not a good idea, huh?
Ciara: Actually, I invited your dad to the party.
Ben: You did?
Ciara: I did.
Ben: Uh-uh.
Ciara: Yeah, he– he and I got to talking about it and, I don’t know, I just– I felt uncomfortable not inviting him. I just didn’t want to hurt his feelings, you know?
Ben: That was really sweet of you. And I know he can be pushy, and he’s trying way too hard to convince us that he’s changed and all, but I think maybe we need to try to give him the benefit of the doubt.
Ciara: I know. And I am trying. I promise. Because you are the love of my life and I know how important it would be to you if your dad actually has changed. It’s just–
Ben: What?
Ciara: I’m just a little overprotective, you know? I mean, I’m already a mama lion about this baby.
Ben: [Growls]
Ciara: Roar.
Ben: I’m fine with that, mama lion. I’m fine with that. And you know what? I am gonna talk to my dad and I am gonna tell him that he doesn’t have to try so hard to prove himself to us. I’ll make sure that he backs off a little bit. Rrr.
Clyde: Well, you had any breakfast? Why don’t you pull up a chair and I’ll cook you some eggs.
Ej: I’m not breaking bread with you. The last time we tried to coexist peacefully, I took a bullet.
Clyde: Well, how do you think we should work this out?
Ej: One of us needs to disappear. I left town last time. Now it’s your turn.

Clyde: You gonna shoot me in the home my son shared with his pregnant wife?
Ej: My methods are far more civilized than yours. The dimera jet is waiting on the tarmac. All you have to do is pack a bag, go to the airfield, and tell the pilot where to take you.
Clyde: And how would you suppose I live once I got there?
Ej: I’ll see that you have the funds to start a new life. As long as that life is nowhere near mine. What do you say?
Ben: What does he say about what?
Belle: You are having a baby with jan spears, and you think right now is the time to bring up all my past mistakes? Mistakes that I have apologized for over and over.
Shawn: And I’ve apologized too. And you know what? I’m gonna do it again. Belle, I am so sorry. Look, I’m sorry that the devil made jan look like you. I’m sorry that jan is pregnant. And I am sorry that I did not tell you that I slept with jan the minute that you walked in that door. Look, the only reason why I brought up philip is because I forgave you for that. So can’t you forgive me now?
Allie: Johnny and I had a huge fight.
[Electricity crackling]
Chanel: What did you fight about?
Allie: What he did to you, of course. And him telling tripp about you and me. And every other horrible thing he’s done to everyone since he got here.
Chanel: And how did he take it?
Allie: How do you think?
Johnny: This isn’t gonna work! Now stop talking to him!
Allie: It got pretty ugly, as most of our fights do. I mean, me and johnny were probably arguing in the womb.
Chanel: So how did it end?
Allie: He’s lucky I didn’t kill him. He’s still over there in one piece at the dimera place.
Chanel: Okay, so after you left there, where did you go?
Allie: I just started driving.
Chanel: All night?
Allie: I needed to think.
Chanel: About you and johnny?
Allie: About you and me.
Chanel: What about us?
Allie: That maybe we shouldn’t see each other anymore.
Johnny: I’m never gonna get out of here–never.
[Eerie music]
Uncle tony. Aw, man, you are the answer to my prayer, let me tell you.
Andre: I rather doubt that.
Johnny: Oh, to me you are.
Andre: You seem to be in a bit of a predicament.
Johnny: Yeah. The, uh– the devil did it.
Andre: Really? Good old nick himself.
Johnny: Well, no, I mean, he was in me, and now he’s in allie. She’s the one who did this. You got to let me out of these chains so I can stop her.
Andre: I can’t do that.
Johnny: What? Why not?
Andre: Because, dear old boy, I’m not your uncle tony. I’m your uncle andre. A lot of folks ask me why their dishwasher
Chanel: What are you saying?
Allie: That we rushed into this. Tripp doesn’t like it, johnny doesn’t like it.
Chanel: Like we need their blessing.
Allie: I don’t need anyone’s blessing. It’s just being with you has ruined my relationships with both of them. And they were important to me.
Chanel: More important than I am?
Allie: Sorry about that.
Chanel: How many times have I heard you say johnny can go straight to hell?
Allie: I know. And I can’t explain it, but I don’t expect anyone to understand what’s between me and my brother.
Johnny: Andre dimera is dead.
Andre: Right here in this very crypt.
Johnny: You are–you are– uh, you’re dehydrated and probably in shock. Just you’re seeing things that–that aren’t there.
Andre: I hate to disillusion someone so young, oh, but I’m actually right here.
Johnny: That is impossible. You’re dead!
Andre: Oh, how can you question? After all that you’ve been through, you question his power?
Johnny: Whose power?
Andre: The one you mentioned when I first met you. Ah. Yeah. He sent me here. He’s our mutual acquaintance. You see, during my lifetime, I made some unfortunate choices. And when abigail struck me in the head with this urn, hmm, it ended my day here on this earth. So there was only one possible destination for my poor, corrupt soul. I became the indentured servant to mephistopheles himself. He sent me here to deal with you.
Johnny: So what are you gonna do with me?
Andre: Oh!
[Chuckles]
Abigail: I’m glad allie’s okay. I just hope johnny is too.
Chad: Yeah, god only knows what he’s up to now. I mean, he’s been weird ever since he broke up with chanel.
Abigail: Well, thankfully ej’s back. Maybe he can deal with it.
Chad: Ej? He’s back?
Abigail: Yeah. He got out this morning. Did you not hear?
Chad: I knew that the conviction was overturned, but I didn’t think that he would be out so soon. I mean, that’s great.
Abigail: Yeah. I just can’t believe that belle put that phony evidence on his computer. She’s lucky she didn’t get disbarred.
Chad: Well, yeah, but she got the defense that “the devil made do it.”
Abigail: Oh, it’s not funny. What she did to ej was awful.
Chad: Ah, I guess.
Abigail: You guess? You know something, don’t you? What is it?
Clyde: Dimera here just offered me a job.
Ben: Oh. What does dimera here get out of giving him a job?
Clyde: Well, you know, we were cellmates back in statesville. We got to know each other really well, didn’t we, elvis?
Ben: Huh. Well, elvis, what does the parole board think of an ex-con going to work for another ex-con?
Ej: That’s not what I am. My conviction was overturned.
Clyde: You know, you learn a lot about who to trust when you’re on the inside. ‘Cause having the right person back you up could keep you alive. And elvis knows that business on the outside can be just about as cutthroat. But I’m gonna have to say no to your generous offer. You made it clear that taking the job would require me to move away from salem. I can’t do that. It would violate the terms of my parole. Besides, I’m looking forward to becoming a doting grandpa, once ben and ciara’s baby arrives.
Ej: As you wish. But I must say, I’m very disappointed.
[Dramatic music]
Ben: You want to tell me what that was all about?
Shawn: Would you please say something?
Belle: It’s not just about forgiving you. You and jan are gonna have a child. And that child is gonna tie you to her for the rest of your life. I don’t know if I can live with that.
Ciara: Hi. I just used my key. I hope that’s– oh, gosh, I’m sorry. Am I interrupting something?
Shawn: Yeah.
Belle: No, I was just leaving.
Shawn: What’s in the– what’s in the bag?
Ciara: It’s just everything you need to decorate grandma and grandpa’s house for the party. I just had dinner with them last night and they’re very excited about having another great-grandchild.
Shawn: Yeah, well, they’re gonna be twice as excited when I hear my news.
Ciara: What news?
Shawn: You’re not the only brady having a baby.

Ciara: Wow. How is jan spears having your baby? Belle told me that she walked in on you guys right before you slept together.
Shawn: Because that’s what I told her.
Ciara: You lied.
Shawn: Yes, I did, because I didn’t–listen, I didn’t want to deal with it and I just wanted to pretend like it never happened.
Ciara: I am so sorry, shawn. Wow. Um, all right, well, how are you gonna fix this?
Shawn: I don’t know. I–and she’s– she’s shutting me out.
Ciara: Okay, well, maybe staying at john and marlena’s will give her some time to think. They’ll convince belle to give you another chance.
Shawn: You know what bothers me is that I don’t think that they’re the only ones that she’s turning to right now.
[Soft guitar music]
Ej: Uh, it’s a bit early, isn’t it? It’s not even noon yet.
Belle: Well, I just found out that my husband is having a baby with jan spears. So please, tell me when is the socially acceptable time to start drowning my sorrows?
Ej: So it’s true?
Belle: Yeah. And the call came in from the prison infirmary right after you left.
Ej: I’m so sorry. What does shawn have to say for himself?
Belle: Oh, he was great. He was great. Yeah. He threw the fact that I slept with philip in my face, even though that happened over a decade ago.
Ej: Not a very shrewd tactic.
Belle: I’ve just been sitting here thinking about how much shawn and I have hurt each other over the years.
Ej: I can relate to that. Samantha and I did the exact same thing.
Belle: It’s really sad.
Ej: Mm.
Belle: Anyway, I’m, uh– I’m gonna change the subject. Did you get in touch with johnny?
Ej: No, I called the office, but they said he hadn’t been in.
Belle: I’m sorry.
Ej: Now, where’s that waitress?
Belle: She said she’d be right back. Why? Are you gonna tell them to cut me off?
Ej: No, I’m going to see to it that you’re not drinking alone.
Chad: I just feel really bad about–about turning on ej.
Abigail: Yeah, but I thought he walked up to me at the courthouse and started kissing me. I mean, you thought you saw it happen. It didn’t really occur to us that the devil morphed into ej. That’s not a run-of-the-mill event.
Chad: Yeah, you’re absolutely right. I mean, I was furious with ej when I took the stand. I mean, my testimony is the reason why the judge found him guilty.
Abigail: You didn’t know that belle put that evidence on his computer.
Chad: Yeah. I know.
Abigail: Well, at least he’s out now and he can start putting it all behind him. But, god, I just wonder, what was it like to be inmate ej dimera?
Chad: I–I’m sure he ran into some bad dudes.
Abigail: Probably. But when I saw him, he didn’t seem like he was any worse for having been there.
Clyde: I told you, ej offered me a job.
Ben: Okay, well, you’re not exactly the corporate type, dad, so what kind of job was it?
Clyde: Why do you sound so suspicious?
Ben: Why am I suspicious? Because I’ve known you all my life. I have you sleeping my on couch, and you promised me that you would stick to the straight and narrow.
Clyde: Yeah, and I meant it. Which is why I turned down the job, leaving a whole lot of money on the table, to keep working the grill at brady pub.
Ben: Ciara says you made her breakfast this morning too?
Clyde: Yeah, you say that like it’s a crime. Can’t I do anything right?
Ben: Dad, you need to just dial it back just a little bit. Please, okay? You’re not gonna build a cradle for our baby.
Clyde: What are you giving me grief for, for taking an interest in my own grandkid?
Ben: Because we already have enough of the wrong kind of interest after our baby.
Clyde: What does that mean?
Ben: This is gonna sound off the wall. But dad, I swear to you it is true. We have proof that the devil wants our baby.
Clyde: [Scoffs] You know, ciara said something like that. I thought she was joking.
Ben: It’s not a joke. Believe me.
Andre: Don’t worry, I’m not gonna kill you. You heard what your master told you. He has a vested interest in keeping you alive. Well, at least for now.
Johnny: You know, my family’s probably already looking for me.
Andre: He was concerned about that. That’s why he sent me, to tie the loose ends.
Johnny: What are you talking about?
Andre: We’re going to collaborate on a letter, you and I. Yes, it’s going to be your farewell to salem. And to all those that you love so dearly that live here.
Chanel: You saw johnny last night and you got scared, right? About saying that you wanted to be with me?
Allie: I don’t scare that easy.
Chanel: Yeah, but life was a lot easier when you thought you were straight, right?
Allie: Listen to me. I like boys and I like girls and I have not changed my mind about that.
Chanel: So you’re saying you changed your mind about me. Then you’re lying to yourself. You care about me. And that’s why we decided to try to see if we could make this work. We are way more than friends. And before you went to see johnny yesterday, you were into me, into us.
Allie: I’m sorry if I made you think that. But I’ve decided that we’re a mistake.
Chanel: What did he say to you?
Allie: It’s not what he said. But seeing him made me realize that I rushed into this. I didn’t think about how it was going to hurt the people I care about.
Chanel: After you talked to johnny. You see, what I’m hearing right now, it sounds a lot like the same speech that he gave me, the one where he where he had all his reasons for breaking up with me.
Allie: Johnny and I might be twins, but we have spent our entire lives trying to prove that we are very different from one another. So maybe we are using the same words or facial expressions, but it’s just–

Johnny: No one’s even gonna believe that.
Andre: Ah, it was a rhetorical question. Asked for dramatic effect, not an answer. “My dearest family, when I came back to salem, I hoped that I was finally coming home. Instead, I felt more lost than ever. I’ve made a lot of bad and selfish choices and I’ve hurt the people I most care about. I admit to being a bit of a dilettante.”
[Chuckles] Oh, yes. “My commitment to projects and people came and went.”
Johnny: That doesn’t even sound like me.
Andre: Oh, people know that you think of yourself as being an auteur. They’ve seen your affectations and heard your pompous pronouncements. Oh, believe me, they’re gonna buy this. “One minute I wanted to make a movie, and the next minute I wanted to run dimera enterprises. Oh, I rushed into marriage with chanel and now I’m rushing to divorce her. I’m finally seeing the truth about myself because of an argument with allie. Oh, the person who knows me best. And that truth is that I don’t know what I want and I don’t know who I am. So I’ve decided to go back to italy. Chanel: So you and johnny talked about the best way to dump me?
Allie: No. Johnny just reminded me of how close me and him used to be.
Chanel: Oh, I know that son of a bitch put me down to you. What did he say?
Allie: Does it really matter?
Chanel: Yes!
Allie: He said that you want both of us, me and him.
Chanel: Okay, but you don’t really believe that, right?
Allie: You did jump right from his bed into mine.

Allie: Exactly, that’s my point. This moved so fast, too fast.
Chanel: So your brother did get to you. He’s pulling the strings right now. Horton, I have been so happy. Oh, please, please don’t let him do this to us.
Allie: It’s not him who’s doing this. It’s me. I took some steps back and I looked at my life over the last few months. I went from planning to marry tripp right into a relationship with you. I need time. I need to be alone.
Chanel: Well, what about the bakery?
Allie: Bakery’s yours.
Chanel: Yeah, but I thought we were partners.
Allie: I didn’t put a cent into that place.
Chanel: Yeah, but you– you got your great-grandmother’s donut recipe and you get up in the middle of the night to help with the baking. Come on, that meant so, so much to me.
Allie: I’m sure you’ll find someone else to take my place.
Chanel: Like I found you to take johnny’s place? Don’t do this, horton. I don’t know what went on with you and johnny last night, but all I know is that something’s been really off since you walked through that door.
Johnny: I’m not signing that. It’s not even my handwriting. Everyone’s gonna know!
Andre: Hmm.
Johnny: [Grunts]
[Intense music]
Andre: Now, no one will doubt the authenticity of this letter now that your signature is written in blood. It’s a nice touch, don’t you think?

Allie: It’s over. Please go. I need to get some sleep before henry wakes up.
Chanel: You can sleep now? I pray to god that you are gentler with henry than you have been with me.
[Crying]
[Dramatic music]
Demon allie: I hope I don’t have to play that scene again. I need to focus all my energy on ben and ciara’s baby.
Clyde: So let me ask you, you still seeing that shrink?
Ben: Dad, marlena’s not possessed anymore.
Clyde: Well, does that mean your troubles are over now?
Ben: I hope so. But the devil’s upped his game since he returned to salem. He’s able to jump from person to person.
Clyde: How do you know that?
Ben: Marlena’s daughter was possessed for a little while.
Clyde: And now?
Ben: And now, there’s no sign of him, but–
Clyde: But why would he want your kid?
Ben: I don’t know, dad. We don’t know that. But I do know that right now my baby’s safe. I intend to keep it that way.
Clyde: Yeah. Well, I saw the way ciara fought for you. So if that devil does come after your kid, he’s in for a hell of a fight. And my money’s on ciara.
Ciara: Look, I just– I think you need to give belle some time. She was possessed, shawn. She did things that she would never do in a million years. She has to figure out how to live with that.
Shawn: I don’t– I just don’t– I can’t believe that we’re talking about belle’s possession like–like she had the flu or something.
Ciara: I saw marlena when she was like that, and belle’s not gonna get past this overnight.
Shawn: Yeah, you’re right. I mean, we both just went through hell, literally. I just hope that– I hope that when she’s herself she won’t be so furious with me.
Ciara: No. No way. I know belle. And no matter how angry she is, she is not gonna give jan the satisfaction of ruining your marriage.
Ej: This may not seem like an appropriate time for a toast, but I hope you’ll indulge me.
Belle: Go for it.
Ej: The devil tried to make a hash of both of our lives, but you were strong enough to throw him off, and because you did, the worst is behind you now. And I have every confidence that you’ll be saying the exact same thing very soon. Here’s to you.
[Soft guitar music]
Chad: How was ej when you saw him?
Abigail: Uh, in high gear. He wants to put the whole thing behind him so he can get his life back.
Chad: Good for him.
Abigail: So the two of you weren’t really getting along before he went to prison.
Chad: You don’t have to remind me.
Abigail: Do you think you could join forces and throw gabi out of the executive suite?
Chad: Well, there’s nothing that the old man would love more than his sons burying the hatchet to get rid of an interloper. When did that come?
Abigail: I don’t know.
Chad: “Alla mia famiglia.”
Abigail: What does that mean?
Chad: Means “to my family.” It’s from johnny.
Andre: Well, your missive has been delivered. No one will come looking for you now. But don’t worry, old boy. We’ll meet again, either here or in hell.
