Finn: Mom, the toxicology report says Hollis died of a drug overdose.

Li: Yes, just like the other man he worked with.

Finn: Tom.

Li: Yes. The same drug was found in both their systerms.

Poppy: Oh, that’s so tragic.

Li: Yes, but it’s not an accident. They were killed, Finn, and I know exactly who did it.

Poppy: Who?

Li: You know exactly who I’m talking about, Penelope.

Brooke: “Second death at Beverly Hills restaurant.”

Hope: Do the police think they’re connected?

Brooke: Well, they’re investigating now…interviewing other employees.

Ridge:  It’s definitely going to take a cut out of the pizza business.

Steffy: Well, there’s one employee they should be questioning first.

Deacon: Of course I’ll cooperate with the police.  I’ll help in any way I can. Yeah, you can quote me on that.  Listen, listen. You know, we pride ourselves at being a high class establishment here at Il Giardino.  Well, you know what? Our customers do feel safe. It’s my responsibility to make them feel safe, and the staff. Look, I’m not gonna let this go.  I’m gonna find out what happened because Tom and Hollis weren’t just employees. I lost two of my friends.

Ridge: Sorry, I’m not trying to make light of two people dying, but the restaurant is going to take a hit.  The press loves a scandal.

Steffy: Bad press will be the least of his worries if the cops actually look into this.

Hope: Wait, you’re not saying that you think my dad had something to do with this.

Ridge: Two people died at his restaurant, and he’s got a bit of a shady past, so, yeah.

Steffy: Deacon is no saint, but it isn’t difficult to connect the dots and realize who’s behind this.

Deacon:  No, no, that’s not what I said. Look, uh, Tom and Hollis were good men. They were good friends. Why don’t you try printing that?

Sheila: Reporter?

Deacon: No…vulture!  Guy just wanted click bait. You know, he’s making it seem like Il Giardino’s cursed or something.

Sheila: Well, isn’t that the way you’re feeling?

Deacon: Maybe, but I sure as hell don’t want it over the news!

Sheila: You think it’s going to be bad for the restaurant.

Deacon: Ah, it ain’t gonna be good for it.  I’m not upset. I’m just sick to my stomach. I lost my friends; I don’t know why. I wanna know why. I wanna know what the hell happened.

Li: It’s obvious who killed these two men.

Poppy: Uh, not to me.

Li: You wanna deny it?

Finn: Mom, what are you saying?

Li: What should be perfectly clear to everyone.  Two employees of Il Giardino are dead. Overdosed on the same drug and killed at the same place.

Finn: You keep saying, “killed,” but the report just —

Lie: The report only gives us part of the story, Finn. We know the rest.  These two men came in contact with an unstable woman who has a history of violent, criminal behavior: Sheila Carter.  Sheila Carter killed those men.

Hope: My dad wants to know how this happened more than anyone.

Steffy: Even if his wife’s behind it?

Hope: Well, I mean, if… tom and hollis died because of, I don’t know, a shooting or stabbing, I could see that. But let’s not forget, tom did die of an overdose.

Steffy: Sheila hurts people any way she can.

Brooke: It’s true, honey. She’s capable of anything.

Hope: And I am not denying that or defending her.

Steffy: This is not a coincidence, hope.

Hope: Yeah, but they can happen.

Ridge: Not like this, they can’t, what are you talking about? Two people died unexpectedly in the same place. You throw sheila into the mix, you gotta wonder about it, right?

Hope: Okay, fine, yes. Yes, I agree.

Steffy: So what are you gonna tell us? Keep an open mind about sheila? Give her a chance?

Hope: No.

Steffy: Because your gut is telling you the same thing mine is.

Hope: [Sighing] Yes. Tom and hollis could have died because of sheila.

Sheila: Don’t let that reporter get to you.

Deacon: That’s not him. It’s this whole damn situation.

Sheila: But you had nothing to do with it.

Deacon: Sheila, I have everything to do with it. It’s my restaurant. They were my friends.

Sheila: And they know that you cared about them, deacon.

Deacon: I was upstairs when hollis died, steps away, and he was down here alone.

Sheila: But you didn’t know.

Deacon: I still don’t know. What happened? What the hell happened to hollis?

[Distant car horn honking]

Sheila: Did the reporter ask you about that?

Deacon: Oh, yeah, no, I mean, he wants to make this seem like it’s the scandal of the century.

Sheila: But that’s his job. You’ve got to sensationalize, or people aren’t going to pay attention.

Deacon: Tom and hollis deserved attention before they died.

Sheila: And you gave them that… baby, you gave them attention, care, respect.

Deacon: Yeah, well, apparently not where it really mattered, right? Tom said he was sober, and then he od’s? It doesn’t make sense.

Sheila: No, but people make their own choices. Sometimes just one bad decision has– has a tragic outcome.

Deacon: What are you saying? You think hollis made a bad decision? I mean, do you think he was sick or… just think he was in the wrong place at the wrong time? We have no idea why hollis died.

Finn: [Sighing] You think sheila did this?

Li: Don’t you dare defend that sociopath. I don’t care if she gave birth–

Finn: No, I’m not defending her. I admit, I couldn’t help but think the same thing. Two co-workers, in the same workplace, the same substance.

Li: I’m so relieved to hear you say that.

Poppy: I don’t know sheila very well, but she does have kind of a frightening history. I agree with my sister. If foul play was involved, then sheila has to be the prime suspect.

Finn: Yes, but at this point, we can’t say what happened to hollis and tom weren’t accidental overdoses. I mean, there’s an epidemic of drug-related deaths in this country. I mean, we see it all the time in the er. The amount of deaths that is out there, that drug kills.

Li: Yes, it sure does. But so does sheila. Do I need to remind you of how she terrorized us? Shot you, held you hostage… rammed me off the road and… left me to die.

[Engine roaring]

Li: Damn it, sheila! Aah! God!

[Engine revving]

[Car horns honking]

Li: Back off, you crazy bitch!

[Crash]

[Booming]

[Tires squealing]

Li: Aah!

Li: I am absolutely certain sheila carter murdered those two men. A mystery!

Ridge: Everyone warned deacon to cut ties with sheila. Everyone.

Steffy: She doesn’t deserve an ounce of sympathy or understanding. Getting close to sheila, you’re inviting chaos into your life.

Brooke: If deacon didn’t see it before, he has to realize it now.

Hope: Yes, but I’m still just stuck on the motive. If she is responsible for tom and hollis’s deaths, why?

Steffy: Well, finn is at the hospital with li right now, and li is overseeing hollis’s autopsy.

Brooke: Good, she’ll make sure the truth comes out.

Steffy: Sheila killed those men. There is no doubt in my mind. I don’t know how, I don’t know why. But when I figure this out, they’re gonna get justice. Her days of hurting people and endangering my family are over. This time, sheila carter’s gonna pay.

Sheila: You… you’re asking me things I can’t answer.

Deacon: I know. I’m sorry. I know you’re struggling, too.

Sheila: Oh, you can see that?

Deacon: Of course I can. I mean, you found hollis. I can still hear you screaming in my head. You know, this place was supposed to be our oasis. Feels like a plague has fallen on il giardino.

Sheila: Look, it’s sad what happened to tom and hollis, but their two deaths could be completely unrelated.

Deacon: They both happened here.

Sheila: That’s because this is where they spent their time. It is possible that… these were just two tragic accidents.

Deacon: We’ll know soon enough.

Sheila: What? What do you mean, deacon?

Deacon: Look, I don’t know if it’s because I was talking to that idiot reporter or the general ominous feeling around here now, but my mind is starting to go to some very dark places. I’m starting to think that maybe tom and hollis’s death… was anything but an accident.

Li: I am certain sheila carter targeted those two innocent men. Penelope seems pretty sure of that herself. What about you, finn?

Finn: I’m not conducting the investigation, mom.

Li: But you do care about the case?

Finn: Yeah, for a lot of reasons, and I meant it. It would be irresponsible and short-sighted to ignore sheila’s history.

Li: You don’t have to be diplomatic with me. Not about her.

Finn: Okay, is it possible that she was involved? Yeah, that is a valid question.

Li: They both died from the same drug.

Finn: Which is worth looking into.

Li: That’s exactly what I’m going to do right now.

Finn: What?

Li: I’m going over there.

Finn: What, to the– to the restaurant?

Li: Yes, I’m going to go to il giardino and confront that mad woman.

Finn: Okay, mom, you can’T… you can’t just go, there is no conclusive evidence that directly ties sheila to this.

Li: What? Except for that we know her. We know what she’s capable of.

Finn: [Sighing] Okay, then I’ll go with you.

Li: No. Absolutely not. How many times do I have to tell you, you cannot go anywhere near sheila. [Scoffs ]I won’t let you undermine your marriage, okay? Endanger your family. You promised steffy that you would stay far away from that woman. I can do this alone.

[Knocking on door]

[Distant hospital pa chatter]

Steffy: They said I could find you here.

Finn: Hey, what’re… what’re you… hey…

Steffy: Is it– is it done? Is the autopsy finished?

Li: Yes.

Steffy: So, what– what happened? How did hollis die?

Li: Just like tom starr. Hollis was murdered by sheila.

Deacon: Hope, you know how much I love you. You and the kids. You– you mean the world to me. But so does sheila. I asked sheila to marry me.

Ridge: Everyone warned deacon to cut ties with sheila.

Steffy: Getting close to sheila, you’re inviting chaos into your life.

Hope: If she is responsible for tom and hollis’s deaths, why?

Steffy: There is no doubt in my mind– sheila killed those men.

[Echoing] …Killed those men.

Brooke: How are you doing, sweetheart?

Hope: I, uh… I’m just worried about dad. The restaurant. It’s heartbreaking, what happened to hollis. He was so young.

Brooke: It is. It’s hard to believe.

Hope: And to die like that? All alone. The fact that they didn’t find the body until the next day, it’s horrible. Like, I just want to understand why this happened.

Ridge: That’s funny, you wanna know why this happened? You know why this happened. We all know why it happened. Your father led sheila into his life. That’s what happened. That’s it.

Hope: Steffy believes that once we have the autopsy results, we will get the whole picture. But what if we don’t? I mean, what if it just raises more questions than we already have? I– you know my dad. He’s going to want solid, concrete proof before he’s even capable of believing that sheila had anything to do with it.

Ridge: Well, you know what I think? I think he’s not going to believe whatever’s in the autopsy report anyway.

Hope: Well, great. What’s that gonna do for our relationship?

[Sighing] What am I saying? No, that’s not the point. That is not important right now. Hollis is dead. His family is never going to get to see him again.

Ridge: And that’s awful. But all we can do right now is make sure it doesn’t happen again. Steffy’s right. This is sheila. This is all about sheila.

Sheila: What are you saying?

Deacon: I’m saying that this doesn’t add up. It just feels wrong.

Sheila: You just lost two of your friends. No, no, no.

Deacon: No-no-no, it’s not that, it’s like there’S… I don’t know, it’s like there’s something or somebody behind this. Okay, tom died of an overdose. And, yes, he had a history, but come on. He was clean. He was turning his life around.

Sheila: [Scoffs] That’s because you were helping him. You wanted to see him succeed.

Deacon: Yes, and if tom had died and that was it, I would be sad enough. But then you come downstairs and you find hollis dead.

Sheila: I get it. You can’t believe that these were just tragic accidents. I mean, your friends are gone, and you don’t want their deaths to be meaningless or random. First tom and then hollis. It is upsetting and tragic. But it’s not murder.

Steffy: Murder?

Li: [Sighing] This is sheila we’re talking about.

Steffy: You’re saying that the autopsy pointed to sheila?

Finn: Well, that’s– that’s my mother’s interpretation.

Li: Which you agree is possible.

Finn: Yeah.

Steffy: Wait, how– how did hollis die?

Finn: Well, he and tom died the same way.

Steffy: Drug overdose?

Li: That’s not all.

Finn: The details of the report show that hollis’s death is suspicious. And I don’t want to jump to any conclusions, but I can’t deny that the report is concerning. But similarities between these cases wouldn’t be unexpected. I mean, tom and hollis, they were acquainted. They worked in the same place, and they probably socialized with the same people, but…

Steffy: But what?

Finn: Not only did hollis overdose, he died of the same drug that killed tom.

Steffy: The same drug?

Li: Yes.

Steffy: Sheila. Tom and hollis, they didn’t die by accident. There are no accidents when sheila is around. You’re telling me these two guys dropped dead at a place where Sheila works and lives? I mean, come on. You told me that Deacon and Hollis, when they heard that Tom died, and that he was using drugs, that they were shocked. And Hollis, he was even offended … now he dies the exact same way?

Frinn: No, it’s strange.

Li: Sinister.

Steffy: Oh, it’s awful.  Sheila did this. Sheila killed Tom and Hollis. Oh, my God.  I don’t know how, or why, but one thing is certain. This time, Sheila will pay for her crimes.
