The documentary features an exclusive interview with Chrystal Fassett, former bank teller who was present when the Catts robbed one of the banks; and interviews with Susie Gregory, who volunteered at Abby’s jail and learned of her backstory from a 2013 “20/20” report, and took her in when she received parole in 2015; investigator Jeff Martin, who worked on the case; Troy Nehls, the local sheriff who allowed Abby to serve time in the county jail instead of state prison; Skip Hollandsworth, Texas Monthly reporter who wrote about the Catt family crimes; and Joanna Voss, Abby and Hayden’s aunt. The documentary also features revealing interrogation tapes, footage from Hayden and Abby’s emotional 2013 reunion in front of “20/20” cameras before they parted ways to serve their sentences, and a 2015 interview with Abby after she received parole.
Police quickly tracked down the Catts due to their construction worker disguises, purchased by Hayden and Abby with Scott’s credit card at a local home improvement store. While they awaited sentencing, Scott continued to manipulate his children by sending letters encouraging them to exaggerate his alcohol addiction when speaking to the media in an effort to make him appear more sympathetic. In 2013, all three accepted plea deals for aggravated robbery. Scott received 24 years in prison, Hayden received 10 years and Abby received five years, which she was allowed to serve in jail.
“20/20” is anchored by David Muir and Amy Robach. David Sloan is senior executive producer.

- CBS Whistleblower – Friday, June 28, 8:00PM Show More
- WHISTLEBLOWERS EXPOSE A $7 BILLION NO-BID DEFENSE DEPARTMENT CONTRACT AND THE ILLEGAL MARKETING PRACTICES OF A PHARMACEUTICAL COMPANY PROMOTING AN ADDICTIVE OPIOID FOR TREATMENTS NOT APPROVED BY THE FDA, ON THE SEASON FINALE OF “WHISTLEBLOWER,” FRIDAY, JUNE 28
“Bunny’s War: The Case Against the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers / Opioid Lollipops: The Case Against Cephalon” – In 2005, Bunnatine ‘Bunny’ Greenhouse was selected for the top civilian post in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, responsible for approving all outside contracting. It was a far cry from her humble beginnings in rural Louisiana, but what should have been the pinnacle of her civil service career became something much darker.
Greenhouse spoke out about a $7 billion contract called ‘Restore Iraqi Oil,’ which was to help rebuild Iraq’s oil infrastructure in the wake of the U.S. invasion of that country. Greenhouse felt that the contract, which was awarded to KBR, a subsidiary of the oil services company Halliburton, was uncompetitive and overly generous in budget and duration. In addition, there was documented evidence suggesting that the office of Vice President Dick Cheney – who had formerly served as the CEO of Halliburton, KBR’s owner – had exerted influence in assigning the contract.
Greenhouse says that, because of her opposition to the contract, she was retaliated against, demoted and ultimately, in an act of physical intimidation, someone rigged a tripwire in her office, causing her to suffer a serious accident. Refusing to let the “good ol’ boys” club get away with their violations, she filed a federal whistleblower lawsuit.
Host Alex Ferrer examines the case against the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and a second story about a pharmaceutical company that illegally marketed addictive opioids for treatments not approved by the Federal Drug Administration, resulting in serious danger to patients – allegedly including a number of fatalities – on the season finale of WHISTLEBLOWER, Friday, June 28 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.
Whistleblower Bruce Boise was a pharmaceutical rep for Cephalon Inc. who, in 2002, refused to follow company-ordered sales strategies to convince doctors to prescribe several drugs for “off-label” uses unapproved by the Federal Drug Administration. One of the drugs was a pain-killing lollipop called Actiq.
Actiq, whose active ingredient is the powerful opioid Fentanyl – implicated in the death of the musician Prince – is a lollipop that relieves extreme pain and is FDA-approved only for cancer patients in acute pain. Cephalon was pushing its reps to market it for off-label uses, such as treatment for migraines and lower back pain, to doctors who were not pain specialists.
Starting in early 2003, Boise agreed to wear a wire and do undercover work for the FDA’s Office of Criminal Investigation (OCI), gathering evidence of Cephalon’s illegal, off-label marketing practices. Later that year, he was fired from his job and then blackballed in the pharmaceutical world. Divorced with three children, he was forced to sell his houses before they went into foreclosure and his cars were repossessed. To earn a living, he painted houses with his son before he injured both of his shoulders, did renovations, and ended up flipping burgers at county fairs.
In 2004, Boise filed a whistleblower lawsuit, alleging the company had violated federal law by illegally marketing pharmaceuticals off-label.
WHISTLEBLOWER is produced by CBS News Productions and CBS Television Studios. Alex Ferrer is the host. Susan Zirinsky is the senior executive producer. Anthony Batson, Alex Ferrer and Ted Eccles are the executive producers. Peter Bull is the senior producer. Alicia Tejada is the senior coordinating producer. Lincoln Farr, Ruth Reiss are the producers. Rashida Johnson, Eneida DelValle are the field producers. Marcus Balsam, James Taylor, Greg Socher, Maria Barrow, Pascal Akesson and Libby Fabricatore are the editors.

- CBS 48 HOURS – Saturday, June 29 Show More
- “48 HOURS” SATURDAY NIGHT DOUBLE FEATURE 48 HOURS: “Missing Marsha” 9:00 PM
48 HOURS: “Knock Knock” 10:00 PM
48 HOURS tackles two cases filled with twists, contradictions and more in a Saturday night double feature to be broadcast Saturday, June 29 (9:00 PM, 10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.
At 9:00 PM, Peter Van Sant and 48 HOURS investigated the disappearance of Marsha Brantley of Cleveland, Tenn., and the murder case against her husband, Donnie Brantley in an encore of “Missing Marsha.”
The Brantley case was unusual from the start because for months after Marsha disappeared in 2009, nobody reported her missing – not her friends, family or even her husband. No one took much notice until her hairdresser, Kelly DeLude, worried about a missed appointment, started asking. DeLude eventually called police and investigators later picked up the case. Donnie Brantley claimed he hadn’t reported Marsha missing because she had left him. Then, police say he lied repeatedly about where she had gone and what she’d taken with her. Still, there was no physical evidence of a crime – no blood, no fingerprints, no crime scene at all. The investigators’ biggest hurdle in solving the disappearance of Marsha Brantley, may have been Marsha herself. There was no dead body to prove a murder ever had been committed.
Donnie Brantley was arrested in 2013, but then prosecutors dropped the charges after deciding they didn’t have enough to get a conviction. Two years after his 2014 election, District Attorney General Stephen Crump charged Brantley again with essentially the same evidence. Then, February 2018, just before trial, Crump dropped the charges against Brantley, shocking everyone.
What happened to Marsha Brantley?
At 10:00 PM Richard Schlesinger and 48 HOURS report on the investigation into the deaths of two beloved grandmothers – Betty Jones and her friend Kathryn Crigler – in Starkville, Miss., on Labor Day in 1990 in an encore of “Knock Knock.” The case, which was unsolved for three decades, prompted Betty Jones’ step-grandson, Jason B. Jones, to spotlight the case in a podcast. Jones, who was 10 when his grandmother was murdered, launched his podcast in September 2017 as a way to work through his own questions about the incident and, perhaps, have someone uncover new information. But what began for 48 HOURS as a story about a cold case turned into something much different, thanks to Starkville detective Bill Lott’s determination and cutting-edge DNA technology that didn’t exist when the women were killed.
