EJ showed up at the townhouse to surprise Belle with flowers for her birthday. He told her that it was her first birthday since her father passed away. EJ wanted her to prosecute Sophia. He yelled about what Sophia did to Johnny. Belle thought Sophia had mental problems. She blamed EJ for why everyone’s lives are in chaos. Belle planned to deal with Sophia the way she wanted. She wanted EJ to leave her house. Theo let Xander know that he wanted the families to be civil with each other. Xander paid attention when Theo said that Gabi was upset that he was named CEO. Gabi and Philip walked in the office when Theo explained that to Xander. Xander became suspicious so Gabi had to fix it. She said that she was surprised and disappointed that Tony didn’t give her any warning. Gabi grabbed Theo’s arm and walked away. Xander wanted to know why Philip was with her. Philip said they were attracted to each other. Xander was afraid that Philip would come clean to Sarah. He wanted Philip to keep his mouth shut. Xander had to meet Sarah for lunch. Gabi wanted Theo to keep quiet about Tony betraying her. Theo realized that she was the one who planted the bug in Xander and Philip’s office. Gabi apologized for implying that he couldn’t do the job. He accepted her apology and promised to keep her secret.
Paulina met with Abe to eat. He was upset with her about the advice she gave Theo. Abe felt like she betrayed his trust. Paulina thought it was a difference of opinion. She said that Theo wanted the job and wanted to come to her for permission. Abe told her that Theo was vulnerable after what happened with Claire. He didn’t think Theo was ready to run the company. Paulina stood up for Theo. He said his problem wasn’t Theo. His problem was with her. She gave his son advice he wouldn’t have given him. Paulina tried to calm him down, but it didn’t work. Marlena told Sarah that Sophia had a mental breakdown. She needed to have inpatient therapy. Marlena felt like Sophia needed to go to Bayview. She was going to make the arrangements. Sarah wanted to talk about Marlena’s condition after Belle told her what happened. Marlena said she was dealing with grief. She went home and gave Belle some flowers. Marlena noticed EJ’s flowers for her daughter. They started talking about Sophia. Marlena felt like it would take a while for them to find out what happened to Sophia. While the ladies ate ice cream, Marlena brought up Belle’s conversation with Sarah. Belle needed her to stick around. Marlena promised not to go anywhere.
