Days of Our Lives Update
Update written by Joseph
At the hospital, Tate asks Holly how Sarah’s accident could be their fault. Holly explains that Sarah and Xander were headed to the Horton Cabin for their honeymoon. Tate realizes they would’ve caught them there. Holly adds that they were waiting in the town square for Maggie to bring the key but she couldn’t find it because they took it. Holly says that Sarah was going to help Maggie look for the key that they took and that’s when she got hit by the car.
Xander asks Sarah how she’s doing. Sarah responds that Maggie gave her a nice pep talk that inspired her to get out of the hospital bed and start living her life. Xander questions it being soon that. Sarah says she will need physical therapy, but medically there’s no reason for her to stay in the hospital. Xander decides that he will go see about getting her released then and he will also check in with Jada in hopes that they have apprehended the suspect by now. Sarah encourages him to leave Jada alone and assures that she will reach out when there’s news. Xander agrees to leave Jada alone for now but vows that when he finds out who did this to her, there will be hell to pay.
Fiona sits in the town square with Victoria and talks about the iced tea not hitting the spot as she’s used to something much stronger. Fiona talks about how Victoria is the only one she can confide in because she doesn’t judge her. Fiona talks about being responsible for Sarah not being here and being in the hospital, possibly never walking again. Fiona declares that she destroyed a woman’s future and tore a hole in the heart of the people that love her. Justin then approaches Fiona.
John paces at home, waiting for Brady to call him back. John says it’s driving him crazy and tells Marlena that he won’t be able to relax until they clear this up. Marlena knows John is worried but wonders if they are jumping to conclusions. John says in his mind, there’s only one reason that Brady would lie to Jada about his car being supposedly stolen. John doesn’t want to believe that Brady hit Sarah and just kept going, but tells Marlena that it’s not looking good.
Brady goes to the police station and tells Jada that he’s there to make a confession that he was driving the car that hit Sarah Kiriakis. Jada questions Brady lying earlier which he confirms. Brady admits he panicked and wasn’t thinking straight. Jada asks what made him come clean and if Kristen tipped him off about the warrant for his arrest. Brady insists that he’s here to make a good example for his son and show him that they all have to take responsibility for their actions. Brady adds that the guilt is eating him up over the fact that Sarah may never walk again because of something stupid he did by driving drunk. Brady declares that he was evil in that moment. Jada stops him and says they have to do this by the book and advises him to call his attorney before she takes his official statement.
Fiona asks Justin if they have met. Justin introduces himself as Victor’s nephew. Fiona remembers that Justin was at Xander’s almost wedding and says he was just having a chat with Victoria. Fiona is surprised she didn’t recognize Justin when he was the one who had her letter to Victor. Justin understands they weren’t properly introduced. Fiona is thankful that Xander has forgiven her and they are now on excellent terms, pointing out that he even lets her watch the baby while he takes care of Sarah. Justin says it’s terrible what happened to Sarah and hopes that the partial license plate leads to the culprit being arrested.
Xander returns to Sarah’s room and informs her that Kayla is working on her release now. Sarah excitedly says she can’t wait to get out of the hospital. Maggie decides she will check with Fiona to see if she needs any help with Victoria and tells Sarah to text her when she is home. Sarah thanks Xander for everything. Xander says it’s his pleasure to bring his wife home as Maggie exits. Xander adds that he won’t let Sarah push herself too hard. Sarah says she just wants to hang out with her husband, their daughter, and sleep in their own bed. Xander tells Sarah that he has a proposition for her that he thinks will make a real difference to her recovery.
Holly argues that if they hadn’t been lying and sneaking around the cabin without permission, Sarah wouldn’t have been in that accident or paralyzed now. Tate insists that’s not how it works and that so many factors came together to put Sarah in the wrong place at the wrong time. Holly says Maggie basically said the same thing. Tate is surprised that she told Maggie. Holly figured that since Brady caught them, she may as well come clean to her family too but then she realized their actions may have caused Sarah’s accident, so she just ran out of the room. Tate says what happened to Sarah is horrible but the only person to blame is the person who hit her and then sped off.
Marlena tells John that it’s impossible to imagine Brady hitting Sarah with his car and then leaving her in the street, even if he were drinking. John argues that he wouldn’t be thinking clearly if he was drunk. Marlena asks what about when he sobered up and realized what happened, asking why he wouldn’t come forward then. Marlena says that instead he covered up with the car and that’s not their Brady. John brings up Marlena asking Paul about Brady’s sobriety. Marlena confirms that Paul said Brady claimed he was fine and even going to meetings. John points out that was before the accident, so he wonders if Brady told Paul something else that might shed some light on this. John decides to call Paul.
Xander informs Sarah that he wants to move back in to the Kiriakis Mansion as he thought she would have difficulty in her wheelchair in their small apartment. Xander brings up how the mansion is wheelchair friendly since Victor had mobility issues and even had an elevator put in. Xander adds that she’d have a staff to help make her life easier including with Victoria, plus Maggie will be there all the time. Sarah agrees it would be more convenient and being closer to Maggie would be helpful, so she agrees to do it. Xander says he will let Henderson to know to expect them. Xander then asks if it would be okay with her if he invited Fiona to move in as well. Sarah thinks that is great. Xander says they’ve been getting along so well that he doesn’t see any reason for Fiona to keep paying rent at the Salem Inn. Sarah is thrilled that Fiona has been there for him through all this and calls inviting Fiona to their wedding the best decision she ever made.
Justin tells Fiona that he’s glad he ran in to her because he had been meaning to thank her which she questions. Justin explains that for almost a year, he thought Alex wasn’t his son until thanks to her, it came out that Xander was actually Victor’s heir. Justin tells Fiona that he’s incredibly grateful to her because she gave him his son back. Fiona feels she doesn’t deserve too much credit as she was just setting the record straight and had no idea Theresa was lying to everyone. Justin insists that she changed so many peoples’ lives for the better, including his. Justin then gets a call from Brady, who asks him to come to the police station right away as he needs a lawyer. Justin asks what’s happening. Brady responds that he turned himself in for a very serious crime, Sarah’s hit and run. Justin is shocked and says he’ll be right there as he hangs up. Fiona asks if everything is alright. Justin doesn’t know if Fiona ever met Xander’s nephew, Brady. Fiona claims that she has not had the pleasure but she’s heard wonderful things about him. Justin is afraid that’s about to change. Fiona asks why, noting that he said something about a crime and asks if it has to do with Sarah’s accident and points out that she is family. Justin decides she’ll hear it from Xander anyway but apparently, Brady has turned himself in for Sarah’s hit and run which shocks Fiona.
Holly asks Tate how things went with Brady since he said he didn’t know if he was in trouble. Tate thought Brady was going to go off on him, but he seemed strangely distracted like his mind was somewhere completely different and then he got a mysterious text and left really abruptly. Holly agrees that it sounds weird but encourages that maybe it’s a good thing since if Brady has other things going on, he won’t have time to be mad at him. Tate just hopes everything is okay and talks about being distant this summer and with everything going on with Theresa, he doesn’t want to lose what he has with Brady. Holly agrees that he needs his dad. Tate decides he should head home and face the music. Holly says she will go with him to make sure he gets home safe and they can face Brady together. Tate says she doesn’t have to but Holly insists, pointing out that they don’t know how much time they will get to spend together now that their secret is out.
John thanks Paul and finishes his call. John then tells Marlena that as far as Paul knows, Brady isn’t drinking but there was an incident that he didn’t tell her about as Paul walked in on Brady pouring himself an alcoholic beverage and that Brady admitted he was tempted because of everything with Theresa, but Paul swears that Brady gave him the drink and he got rid of it. Marlena argues that one misstep doesn’t mean Brady has fallen off the wagon but John has the sinking feeling that they are on the right track.
Xander helps Sarah in to her wheelchair, reminding her that she’s not alone and that he will always be there for her as they kiss.
Fiona decides she’s going to need a stronger drink but Maggie finds her and says she was just on her way to her place to see if she needed any help with Victoria. Fiona says that would be lovely. Maggie asks her what’s wrong as she looks white as a sheet. Fiona guesses she hasn’t heard the news and informs Maggie that someone has confessed to hitting Sarah which shocks Maggie. Fiona explains that she was with Justin when he got a call from the culprit himself, who said he had just turned himself in and needed representation. Maggie questions Justin accepting the call and who it was. Fiona is afraid she knows him as she reveals it was Brady.
Justin joins Brady and Jada in the interrogation room. Brady thanks him for coming so quickly. Justin asks for a moment alone with Brady. Jada says she wants to take his statement as soon as possible as she then exits the room. Justin tells Brady that he doesn’t understand, questioning Brady hitting Sarah with his car and then just driving away. Brady tells him that he understands if Justin doesn’t want to take this case since Sarah and Xander are family. Justin argues that Brady is family too but he’s going to need him to explain himself by telling him everything that happened that night. Brady responds that the problem is, he doesn’t really know.
John tells Marlena that he can’t wait around anymore as he has to go look for Brady. John declares that if his son’s in trouble, he needs to find him. Marlena argues that Brady could be anywhere. John decides he’ll start with the bars. John goes to leave but Tate comes home with Holly, shocking John and Marlena. Marlena notes his crutches and asks if he got hurt at lacrosse camp but Tate reveals that he never went to camp.
Justin asks how Brady could not know what happened. Brady admits he was drunk and that he’s been messed up since Alex and Theresa’s wedding. Brady reveals he’s been going on out of control benders and thought he was hiding it pretty well but apparently people started to notice. Brady informs Justin that on the night of Sarah’s accident, he was drinking at Small Bar, so he just assumes he hit her on the way home but he doesn’t exactly remember what happened other than he woke up in the driver’s seat of his car with a splitting headache with no recollection of how he got to the parking garage. Brady adds that he heard the police talking about a gray sedan which is when he realized he might have done it. Brady says he went to look at the car and saw damage on the front bender. Brady tells Justin that he couldn’t take it anymore and had to turn himself in. Justin understands but points out that Brady doesn’t actually know for sure that he’s guilty.
Xander brings Sarah home to the Kiriakis Mansion and asks if there’s anything he can get her from the kitchen. Sarah mentions Maggie making her famous lemon bars and thanks him for everything. Sarah says Xander has been so loving, understanding, and supportive through this whole thing so she couldn’t have gotten through this without him. Xander assures that he worships and adores her, so he will bring her everything she desires for the rest of their lives. Xander tells Sarah that he loves her and will be by her side forever as they kiss. Xander then heads to the kitchen to get her lemon bar.
Maggie asks Fiona if they are sure it was Brady, arguing that it doesn’t make any sense since Brady wouldn’t flee the scene if he hit someone with his car, unless he had been drinking. Fiona recalls Maggie saying she was Brady’s sponsor. Maggie says that Brady has had his struggles. Maggie then gets a text from Xander. Fiona asks if he’s heard the news. Maggie says no as Xander has checked Sarah out of the hospital and are moving in with her at the Kiriakis Mansion. Maggie adds that Xander said in his text that he wants them to bring Victoria and also for Fiona to pack up her things and move in with them if she wants to. Fiona doesn’t know what to say after everything she and Xander have been through, admitting she is shocked and honored that he wants her so close by. Maggie calls Fiona an incredible help to Xander, Sarah, and all of them. Maggie decides she will take Victoria home while Fiona collects her things. Fiona calls that a good idea unless she wants her to be there when she breaks the news about Brady. Maggie says she can handle it but notes that there’s always been bad blood between Xander and Brady, so she doesn’t know how Xander is going to react when he hears the news.
Xander brings Sarah her lemon bar and says he texted Maggie about bringing Victoria and moving Fiona in. Sarah thanks him. Xander then gets a call from Jada and asks if she has good news. Jada says she wouldn’t call it that but they have the suspect in custody and he’s admitted to being the driver who hit Sarah. Xander says that’s great and then asks for the bastard’s name.
Marlena questions Holly and Tate spending the whole summer at the Horton Cabin. Tate explains it was the only way they could be together and they are really sorry for deceiving all of them. John asks what Brady had to say about it. Tate says he wasn’t happy obviously but he couldn’t get a good read on him because Brady seemed distracted or troubled by something and then he just took off somewhere and left. Tate asks if something is going on with Brady that he should know about. John gets a call from his contact Larry which shocks him.
Fiona goes to her room at the Salem Inn and begins packing her things. Fiona thinks back to sleeping with Brady there. Fiona states that Brady doesn’t deserve this but questions what she can do. Fiona then declares that maybe it’s time she tells the truth.
Justin argues that Brady doesn’t have any memories of the actual incident, only the before and after. Brady says that’s right but insists that it had to of been him because there was damage on the car and they had a partial plate that matches his. Brady says even though he can’t remember specifically what happened but he has a vague memory of screeching tires playing nonstop in his head. Justin understands but advises him to reconsider making a full confession. Brady repeats that he already told him what happened. Justin shouts that Brady talked and now he’s going to listen. Justin advises Brady to tell them only his recollection of the facts and nothing more. Justin says the police know what evidence they have, so there is no sense of adding to the case. Justin doesn’t want Brady admitting guilt because that’s for a jury to decide, if it comes to that. Brady knows Justin is doing his job as a lawyer but he doesn’t see any point in fighting this and he doesn’t want to because what he did to Sarah was inexcusable and he needs to make things right.
Maggie brings Victoria home to the Kiriakis Mansion and tells Sarah that she’s so glad she’s out of the hospital and that she decided to move back in as she feels much better having her close by. Maggie mentions that Victoria is asleep and then informs Sarah that she has pretty shocking news to share with her. Sarah reveals that Jada already called, so she knows the driver was Brady. Sarah says she couldn’t believe it and questions how could he. Maggie says she can’t believe it either but it appears to be true as Justin is already at the police station with him. Maggie asks how Xander took it. Sarah says as well as you’d expect. Maggie wants to speak with Xander and asks where he is.
Xander storms in to the police station and asks Jada where Brady is. Jada informs him that he’s in with his lawyer. Xander wants to confront him but Jada stops him and says she can’t let that happen, telling Xander that she needs him to go home and let her handle this as his wife needs him. Xander questions how Brady could just hit Sarah and drive off. Jada says all those questions will be answered in time. Xander then stops and asks if that addict is off the wagon again. Jada confirms he had been drinking that night. Jada suggests they go talk about it in her office but Xander refuses and bursts in to the interrogation room. Xander then shouts that he’s going to kill Brady and begins choking him while Justin yells for him to stop.
John thanks Larry for the heads up as he finishes the call. Marlena asks John what it is. John reveals his buddy at the police department had some intel to share with him. John announces they got the driver who hit Sarah. Holly asks who it is while Tate asks if it’s someone they know. John then reveals that it’s Brady.
Fiona picks up her phone and tells herself that she can’t tell the truth when she’s finally on good terms with her son. Fiona declares that Brady doesn’t deserve this and she hates to see him go down for this, but she has no other choice as she has too much to lose.
Sarah tells Maggie that Xander went to the police station and she tried to stop him, but he was determined to confront Brady. Sarah adds that she’s never seen Xander like this as he looked angry enough to kill.
Justin and Jada pull Xander off of Brady as Justin urges him to think of Sarah and Victoria. Xander questions how Justin can defend Brady when he left Sarah to die in the street. Brady tells Xander that he didn’t mean to hurt her and he’s sorry. Xander swears that Brady is going to pay for this and declares that he will make sure Brady spends the rest of his miserable life rotting in prison.
