Days of Our Lives Update
Update written by Joseph
Holly tells Tate that they are so lucky that Mark agreed to keep his secret. Tate agrees, especially since they both have family who work there. Holly suggests they not press their luck and get Tate back to the cabin before anyone sees them, but they then run in to Brady at the hospital. Brady questions the crutches and begins asking if it happened at camp and why the camp didn’t contact him to tell him they were sending Tate home. Brady then questions what Holly is doing there. Tate then admits that it didn’t happen at camp, so Brady questions where it happened. Tate reveals he was on Smith Island.
Sarah calls Xander from her hospital room, leaving a message wondering where he is since it couldn’t have taken this long to check on Victoria. Sarah hangs up and tells Maggie that she thought Xander would be back by now. Maggie jokes that she’s there but understands Sarah misses her husband and daughter. Sarah adds that she’s also worried about Xander because he feels helpless seeing her this way and since he can’t do anything for her, he’s fixated on finding the person who hit her and is obsessed with it.
Xander questions Jada having a suspect. Jada says she’s sorry but she’s not at liberty to say who it is. Xander argues that they have a right to know. Jada says they will when they make an arrest. Xander complains that the monster left Sarah to die in the street. Jada repeats that she’s sorry but she’s not going to discuss this with him any further. Xander grabs her and says that she will.
Marlena goes home and thinks back to Jada telling her about Brady’s car being stolen.
At the DiMera Mansion, Kristen finishes a phone call in the living room. Kristen tells the portrait of Stefano that the mission has been accomplished as Brady’s car is now as flat as a pancake. Kristen asks what choice she had and says she knows Stefano wasn’t a fan of Brady but he is the father of her child, so she did what she had to do to protect her family. EJ then walks in and questions what she did to protect her family. Kristen claims it’s that she had to fire Ava from the family business for political reasons because Gabi learned that Ava slept with Stefan while she was in prison, so Gabi gave her an ultimatum of relieving Ava from her duties or she would find another buyer for Gabi Chic. Kristen says she couldn’t allow that since they put a lot in to the relaunch and it’s the centerpiece of her new corporate strategy. EJ remarks that he would’ve sacked both of them. Kristen says it’s not up to him. Kristen knows Stefano detested Gabi and she does too but her family legacy means everything to her, so she will do whatever it takes to protect it. EJ doesn’t think so and senses that Kristen is selling him a bill of goods. EJ asks Kristen what’s really going on.
John comes home to Marlena. She asks about his visit with his dad. John says it was great and asks about her message that she wanted to talk about something. John asks if everything is okay but Marlena says not really.
Brady questions what Tate was doing at Smith Island. Tate reveals that he never actually went to camp and he was staying at the Horton Cabin. Brady questions why in God’s name he would do something like that. Tate admits it was so he could spend time with Holly without anyone interrupting. Brady questions Tate lying to him all summer about this, which he admits.
Maggie tells Sarah that she’s been thinking lately about the car accident that killed her parents and part of her wished she died with them. Sarah mentions that she never told her that. Maggie says she wasn’t always brave Maggie facing adversity with courage as she was grieving and scared. Maggie tells Sarah that it’s okay to be angry about what happened to her. Sarah thinks Xander is angry enough for both of them and repeats that she’s worried about what Xander is going to do to the person who ran her over when they find them.
Jada tells Xander that he has every right to be upset and she gets what he’s going through. Xander argues that she has no idea but Jada reminds him that Rafe is lying in a hospital bed, just like Sarah and her heart breaks for both of them. Jada states that she will be the one who will find and arrest the person who hit Sarah, not him. Jada warns Xander to take his hands off of her right now. Xander apologizes and doesn’t know what came over him. Jada gets that he’s worried about Sarah, but every time he raises Hell over the investigation, that’s more time she has to deal with him instead of doing her job. Jada adds that she will let him know as soon as she gets something concrete. Xander thanks her but asks if she can at least say what they are waiting for. Jada says she has to wait for the district attorney before she can proceed, but he will know something soon. Jada repeats that she knows what he’s going through in feeling helpless when the love of your life is in a hospital bed. Jada tells Xander to go be with Sarah as she needs him.
Sarah asks how Maggie dealt with it when she found out she couldn’t walk. Maggie recalls waking up in the hospital and the doctor informing her that her parents didn’t make it. Maggie says when she came to her senses, she felt like she owed it to her parents to keep the farm running. Maggie adds that it wasn’t easy but she knew she had to figure it out. Maggie remembers being on crutches at a graduation party and reminding herself that even if she couldn’t get on the dance floor, she could still dance in her heart. Maggie says if she was never able to walk again, she still would’ve had a very good and full life. Maggie hugs Sarah and encourages her not to give up because no matter how her recovery goes, she’s still a wonderful doctor, mother, wife, and daughter. Maggie admits some things may be harder, but she knows Sarah will remember how much she truly has to be grateful for. Sarah cries that she is grateful to feel so loved by Maggie, Xander, and Victoria as that means everything to her.
EJ feels that was a shockingly unconvincing story from Kristen. Kristen says if he doesn’t believe it, he can run it by Gabi. EJ admits it’s none of his business but advises Kristen that if she doesn’t want people poking around her closet for skeletons, she shouldn’t be so forthcoming with the portrait of Stefano about her secrets out loud. EJ adds that he’s sure Stefano knows all already.
Brady doesn’t understand since Holly has been here in Salem all summer. Holly admits she’s been sneaking up to the cabin to see Tate whenever she can. Brady questions them just visiting and asks for a private word with his son so Holly steps away. Tate knows Brady is disappointed him and says he’s sorry but he really cares about Holly. Tate says this isn’t just some fling and he couldn’t stand to be away from Holly just because Theresa was being crazy. Brady stops Tate, who asks how much trouble he’s in.
Marlena informs John of Brady’s car being stolen right out of their garage. John asks how he took the news. Marlena doesn’t know as he didn’t tell them. John asks when this happened. Marlena explains that she ran in to Jada, who was trying to figure out a timeline. John questions Brady not just telling her how and when it happened. John wonders why the active police commissioner would be involved in a run of the mill car theft, guessing it has to be connected to something bigger, like maybe Sarah’s hit and run. Marlena asks if John thinks that Brady could’ve been involved in Sarah’s accident. John prays he’s wrong but says something isn’t acting up, questioning why Brady wouldn’t say a word about his car being stolen. Marlena informs him that Brady did tell Kristen as she bumped in to her. John questions why unless he wanted to get rid of the evidence by making the car disappear as that sort of thing is in Kristen’s wheelhouse. Marlena suggests not getting ahead of themselves. Marlena adds that when she told Brady about Sarah’s accident, he was shocked and horrified. Marlena argues that Brady is a good man, so if he would’ve hit her, he never would’ve left her there. John agrees that he wouldn’t, unless he had been drinking.
Brady sits with Tate and questions that he’s been shelling out money for Aaron for the entire summer. Tate argues that he knew he didn’t want to go to camp and at least Aaron was getting something out of it. Brady brings up Tate coming back to see Theresa, he was just coming across the ferry and not flying back from New York. Tate argues that when Nicole had left town, he was this close to telling Brady the truth but he got the vibe that he didn’t want him to come home. Brady calls that so not true. Tate states that he left because Brady told him to and he had to keep the lie going because he thought he would go ballistic on him. Tate asks if Brady’s never lied because he was scared of how someone would react. Brady then thinks back to Kristen telling him about getting rid of his car. Tate asks Brady where he went just now. Xander then arrives at the hospital and sees them.
Sarah tells Maggie that she just hopes to be half the mom that she is. Maggie encourages that she’s a wonderful mother. Sarah asks how she will be able to now. Sarah cries about how Victoria needs to be held so much right now and questions how she will be able to keep up with her. Maggie promises that she will find a way. Holly enters the room and hopes she’s not interrupting. Sarah says it’s okay as Holly hugs Maggie. Sarah says she’s very lucky to get two visits in one day. Holly reveals that she came because she has something to tell her. Maggie asks what it is. Holly brings up saying she had plans with a friend tonight but reveals that was a lie as she was going to see Tate. Maggie questions if she means in New York but Holly reveals they were on Smith Island, explaining that Tate never went to New York and that Aaron went to camp in his place so they could spend time together at the Horton Cabin this whole time. Maggie asks if Tate broke in but Holly reveals that she took Maggie’s key and let him in. Holly apologizes for lying to her. Maggie says she understands and says she knew she saw the key the other day. Holly explains that she put it back but Tate locked himself out so she had to borrow it again and she’s really sorry for lying to everyone. Maggie realizes that’s why she couldn’t find the key the other night. Holly asks what night she’s talking about.
Kristen asks if EJ has nothing better to do than standing around to cross examine her, like sorting through a filing cabinet. EJ responds that he has plenty of things he could be doing, but he happened to overhear her talking to a portrait about plotting and scheming so he couldn’t help himself and his interest is piqued. Kristen claims she wasn’t plotting or scheming. EJ adds that she already has the CEO position at DiMera, so he wonders what else Kristen wants that she doesn’t have. EJ then says he knows it’s Brady Black. Jada arrives and hopes she’s not interrupting as the butler let her in. Kristen greets Jada. Jada says she needs to talk to EJ about Sarah’s case so Kristen exits. EJ asks Jada if there are new developments. Jada confirms she has a suspect and is looking for his advice on how to proceed as she has a partial license plate that links to a gray car registered in Salem which also matches the description from the scene of the accident. EJ asks about the forensics evidence. Jada says the problem is that they can’t compare the paint because the vehicle has vanished. EJ questions how a vehicle can just vanish. Jada says that the suspect stated the car was stolen but he didn’t report it which EJ questions. Jada adds that he claimed the car was stolen before the accident but she has an eye witness who says she saw the car parked in the wrong spot on the night of the accident. EJ calls it a lot of circumstantial evidence that is compelling but no absolute proof. Jada adds that without the car, they likely never will have absolute proof. Jada then asks EJ if he’s ready to indict based off what they have.
John asks Marlena if she thinks Brady could be struggling with his sobriety. Marlena admits that while John was in Greece, she had a few concerns which John questions. Marlena says she knew Brady was having a hard time dealing with the Theresa business, but he’s a grown man so she didn’t feel like she could talk to him about it, but she asked Paul how Brady was doing and Paul said that Brady admitted he was struggling and that he had upped his meetings and spent a lot more time with his sponsor. John asks Marlena what her gut tells her. Marlena tries not to jump to conclusions, especially after the last time when Eric drove drunk. Marlena says she should’ve learned from that and sat Brady down to have a serious talk with him before it was too late.
Xander is surprised to see Tate as he thought he was out of town for the summer. Tate says he was but now he’s back. Tate adds that he heard what happened to Sarah and he’s sorry. Xander thanks him. Tate hopes they find whoever did it and give them exactly what they deserve. Xander says the good news is that the police may have a suspect, so he hopes they nail the son of a bitch to the wall.
EJ asks if Jada is going to tell him who the suspect is. Jada asks if matters. EJ says it might, while Kristen listens in from outside the door. Jada reveals that it’s Brady Black, so EJ tells her to arrest him.
Holly asks Maggie again what night she’s talking about. Maggie explains that Sarah and Xander were planning to spend their wedding night at the Horton Cabin. Holly says she didn’t know. Sarah says it’s okay as it was very last minute. Holly asks why they didn’t go. Maggie explains that she couldn’t find the key, so Sarah was coming to help her look for it. Holly then realizes that was the night that Sarah was hit by the car and that she was on her way to Maggie’s because she took the key. Holly then declares that what happened to Sarah is all her fault. Sarah assures that it’s not her fault as she had no way of knowing what would happen. Holly cries that if she and Tate weren’t sneaking around then Sarah would be fine. Holly decides she shouldn’t be here and runs out of the room despite their attempts to stop her as Xander enters and questions what that was all about.
Jada senses EJ has some type of bad blood with Brady. EJ says their families go back generations but claims their history has nothing to do with his legal assessment of the case. EJ adds that what Jada told him, he believes they could win a conviction. EJ instructs Jada to go find Brady and read him his rights, so Jada says she will do that. Jada exits the living room and runs in to Kristen, who asks if she has any leads. Jada thinks Kristen knows the answer to that because she knows she was eavesdropping the whole time. Kristen says she can’t blame her for being curious. Jada brings up Brady being Rachel’s father and asks if she knows anything but Kristen quickly says she doesn’t and walks away.
John tells Marlena that she is not in any way responsible for what happened. John says that if Brady is responsible for this hit and run, then he will just have to man up and own it. Marlena says she knows, but he hasn’t done that yet. John decides that’s why he will have to confront him. John states that Brady is his son, so he will know if he’s lying or telling the truth.
Tate says to Brady that it’s crazy what happened to Sarah and questions what kind of person would just hit her and keep going, saying they’d have to be some kind of psychopath to do that. Tate adds that he’s just glad they have a suspect. Tate asks if Brady heard what he said. Brady apologizes and says he’s just been distracted, but thinks Tate is trying to change the subject. Tate asks if he wants another apology and talks about how Theresa was the one who was militant against he and Holly while Brady just went along with it and even said he’d consider letting them date when the school year started and it’s about to start. Tate adds that he and Holly spent the whole summer together and nothing bad happened. Tate declares that he’s sorry about lying about lacrosse camp and about Smith Island. Tate asks if Brady remembers being in high school and says he’ll take any other punishment, but asks him not to keep he and Holly apart. Brady then gets a text from Kristen that the police are about to arrest him and tells him to run. Tate tells Brady to put himself in his shoes. Brady asks what he means by that. Tate asks if Brady is okay as he looks like he just saw a ghost. Brady claims he’s alright and asks Tate to have Holly take him home because something came up and there’s something he has to do. Brady instructs Tate to take care of his ankle and rushes off, leaving Tate confused. Tate sits back down as Holly joins him. Tate thanks her for letting he and Brady talk. Tate thought he was getting through to him but then he started acting really weird, like his brain was somewhere else, so he has no idea if he’s in trouble or not. Tate then asks Holly if she’s okay. Holly responds that it’s their fault and declares that Sarah was in the accident because of them.
Xander tells Sarah and Maggie that he’s not going to blame Holly and he’d love to go scorched earth but the only person to blame for the accident is the driver. Sarah agrees and asks Xander why he was gone so long as she started to worry something had gone wrong. Xander responds something actually went right as he ran in to Jada in the town square. Sarah asks if there’s any news. Xander says it’s good news as the police have a prime suspect in the hit and run. Sarah asks who it is but Xander says Jada wouldn’t tell him.
Kristen rejoins EJ in the living room and asks what Jada wanted. EJ says she just wanted to see if he would give her the go ahead to arrest the suspect in Sarah’s hit and run case. Kristen asks if he did. EJ responds that he did and it just so happens that the suspect is Brady, so something tells him that Kristen knew exactly what was going on.
John calls Brady and leaves a message, asking him to call him as there’s something he wants to talk to him about.
Jada goes to the police station and calls for two officers to execute the arrest in Sarah’s hit and run but Brady arrives and tells Jada that there’s no need for that as he’s here.
