George questions why Johnny went to the cops when he told him that he and EJ were handling it. Johnny argues that it would&#8217;ve been more lying and covering their tracks. Johnny tells him that&#8217;s not going to happen anymore as he&#8217;s not going to let him get away with this Coriseal coverup or pinning it on Sarah. Johnny argues that he has no problem ruining Sarah&#8217;s reputation because he&#8217;s a coward. George warns him to watch his mouth because he&#8217;s not a coward. Johnny calls him a criminal who is going to pay for what he&#8217;s done. Johnny declares that it starts now as he tells George that he&#8217;s fired.<\/p>\n<p>Steve meets Cat in the park. Cat says she was a little surprised he wanted to meet. Steve says he had something to talk to her about and thought it would be better to do in person. Steve informs Cat that he recently found out that she used to be ISA and he also knows she didn&#8217;t feel like she could go to them for help when Clyde ordered her to impersonate his late niece Abigail. Cat responds that she made a lot of mistakes and she will regret them for the rest of her life. Cat says whatever Steve wants to say, she knows she has it coming and she gets it. Steve says he&#8217;s not here for that as it&#8217;s in the past and she&#8217;s suffered enough for it. Steve reveals that he&#8217;s here because he also found out she&#8217;s back working with the ISA again.<\/p>\n<p>EJ enters Kayla&#8217;s office at the hospital and informs her that he&#8217;s turning in his hospital ID badge. Kayla comments on EJ being officially stripped of his ownership. EJ knows it&#8217;s what she wanted. EJ remarks that they had a good run. Kayla argues that he left a trail of corruption, chaos, and disastrous budget cuts. EJ tells her to admit she will miss him and suspects they will be looking back at it as glory days because the hospital has sunk in his absence.<\/p>\n<p>Kristen argues that Brady can&#8217;t separate her from her daughter as Rachel needs her and whatever he thinks she did doesn&#8217;t change that. Sarah walks in, so Brady tells her they were too late. Sarah says she will call security. Kristen argues that she&#8217;s a mother and knows why she needs to be there. Kristen pleads with Sarah to let her stay with her little girl. Rachel then wakes up and sees Kristen. Rachel asks if it&#8217;s really her. Kristen cries that it really is and that she&#8217;s home. Rachel can&#8217;t believe she&#8217;s really there and questions where she&#8217;s been and what she&#8217;s been doing. Kristen says they can talk about all of that later but she&#8217;s here now and not going anywhere. Sarah asks Brady if he wants her to call security. Rachel then passes out and her monitors begin beeping. Kristen questions what&#8217;s going on. Sarah orders them to clear the room as she checks on Rachel.<\/p>\n<p>Kayla tells EJ that she will be so relieved to finally be rid of him. EJ says her act isn&#8217;t fooling him as he heard Gwen&#8217;s offer was rejected and no other offers are on the table. EJ adds that the state wants to cut 10% of staff and stop participating in several insurance plans. EJ then points out that they are planning on shutting down the Tom Horton Free Clinic. Kayla says she won&#8217;t let that happen on her watch. Kayla then gets paged away and say she has to go, so she tells EJ not to steal anything as she rushes out of her office.<\/p>\n<p>Steve informs Cat that Shane told him that she was back working with the ISA and gave him the low down on her past employment with the agency. Steve says they realized that it might be good for Cat to have some additional support if she needs it. Steve warns Cat to be careful with EJ. Cat says that&#8217;s not the first time she&#8217;s heard that. Cat thanks him but says she has everything under control. Steve worries that could change in a heartbeat because EJ is dangerous and vindictive. Steve guarantees that if EJ gets wind of what she&#8217;s been doing, he will lower the boom on her fast. Steve warns that Cat is playing with fire. Steve knows Rafe is in her corner, but he wants her to come to him if she ever needs help.<\/p>\n<p>George questions Johnny firing him and argues that he can&#8217;t do this. Johnny says he just did. George shouts that he&#8217;s given 30 years of his life to this company and helped DiMera earn billions. George adds that he never said no to EJ asking him to do his dirty work. Johnny points out that he didn&#8217;t say no to disposing of the contaminated Coriseal and brings up the people who died because of his decision. Johnny tells George that he&#8217;s done and he wants his key card and ID on his desk, then he will no longer have access. Johnny reveals that there&#8217;s a security team waiting to escort him out and his belongings will be packed up and sent to his residence. Johnny orders George to get out now.<\/p>\n<p>Kristen and Brady leave Rachel&#8217;s room as Kristen panics about what&#8217;s happening with Rachel. Brady says he doesn&#8217;t know what&#8217;s going on, so they have to wait for Sarah. Kristen then spots EJ nearby, causing her to worry. Kristen pretends to take a phone call and steps away while EJ approaches Brady and asks how Rachel is doing. Brady tells him that she has an infection. EJ asks if there&#8217;s anything he can do. Brady says he&#8217;s done enough and he&#8217;s just waiting to hear back from Sarah, who is Rachel&#8217;s highly competent doctor. EJ prays everything works out and says to give Rachel his love. As EJ walks away, he looks in Kristen&#8217;s direction before heading on.<\/p>\n<p>Steve goes to DiMera Enterprises and tells Johnny that he was happy to hear he offered Destiny&#8217;s family a cash settlement in exchange for them dropping the lawsuit against Sarah. Steve asks if that was part of Stephanie&#8217;s PR campaign. Johnny confirms that she has been helpful in advising him. Steve says Stephanie is damn good at her job, which Johnny says she must get from him. Steve informs Johnny that he wants to help in the investigation in to George.<\/p>\n<p>Kristen asks Brady if he&#8217;s sure EJ didn&#8217;t suspect anything. Brady doesn&#8217;t think so and says he&#8217;s pretty sure EJ wouldn&#8217;t have walked away if he thought she was the nurse. Kristen questions what Sarah is doing and how much longer until they know what&#8217;s going on with their daughter. Sarah comes out and informs them that Rachel is conscious but she&#8217;s developed a complication from the appendectomy, so they are going to need to open her back up again with another surgery. Brady asks how serious it is. Sarah says that she&#8217;s being prepped for it now. Kristen says she needs to see her before she goes in to surgery. Brady decides that since Rachel has already seen her, he won&#8217;t stop her now. Kristen thanks him, but Brady warns that afterwards they are going to have a very long talk about what happens next. Sarah then takes Kristen back to Rachel&#8217;s room.<\/p>\n<p>EJ goes home and pours a drink as Cat comes in to the living room and says she&#8217;s reporting for duty. Cat says she&#8217;s thrilled to be back and that he&#8217;ll be happy to know the investigation in to Dominic Marino is underway and reveals that she has found something.<\/p>\n<p>Brady and Kristen check on Rachel, who says she is scared and doesn&#8217;t want another operation. Kristen encourages that everything will be fine and the doctors will take very good care of her. Sarah promises she&#8217;ll be there the entire time assisting Kayla, but for now she will let her have time with her parents. Kristen stops Sarah and reminds her that no one can know she&#8217;s there. Sarah says she&#8217;s got it as she exits the room. Rachel tells Kristen that she&#8217;s so glad she&#8217;s came as she thought she was never going to see her again. Kristen promises that she will be waiting until she wakes up.<\/p>\n<p>Steve knows Johnny told the police about George&#8217;s personal laptop and how he might have used an AI program to alter Destiny&#8217;s medical records to make Sarah look guilty. Steve thinks the only way to exonerate Sarah is to get the proof. Steve declares that George using his personal computer to access the hospital is the smoking gun but they don&#8217;t have enough evidence. Johnny points out that they are looking for that evidence. Steve says in the meantime, they have to make sure George doesn&#8217;t do anything to destroy that laptop. Johnny responds that he&#8217;s already on it.<\/p>\n<p>Cat tells EJ that she did a little digging on Dominic&#8217;s buyer&#8217;s application for the Kiriakis Mansion and discovered there was no document or record saying the sale took place, so she dug a little deeper and found an inspection report. Cat reveals that much to her surprise, the Kiriakis Mansion failed the inspection. EJ is shocked and questions what was wrong with it. Cat lists off the issues listed and calls it bizarre and hard to imagine. Cat says she dug even deeper and found a document stating that Dominic Marino pulled out of the sale altogether. EJ questions pulling out over a few minor repairs. EJ feels Dominic must be toying with them since he was buying a home there, so he must have planned to come live in Salem, but now he&#8217;s pulling out. EJ questions what this means and what this man is up to.<\/p>\n<p>Kristen tells Brady that she has missed Rachel so much. Kristen knows Brady said he regrets reaching out, but she&#8217;s really glad that he did. Kristen admits she&#8217;s made a lot of mistakes. Brady argues that what Kristen did was monstrous and he&#8217;s sick and tired of her excuses, gaslighting, and constantly pointing the finger at everyone else. Brady adds that Marlena agreed that she shouldn&#8217;t even see Rachel. Kristen asks how dare Marlena suggest she be kept from her daughter. Brady clarifies that Marlena was only agreeing with him because it was his idea. Brady warns Kristen that she&#8217;s lucky that Rachel woke up before he had the chance to kick her out of the room, adding that as soon as Rachel is better, she is leaving. Brady declares that after what Kristen tried to do to Johnny and with what&#8217;s going on between her and EJ, he cannot have her anywhere near their little girl.<\/p>\n<p>Cat offers to dig deeper for another reason Dominic might have backed out of the sale. EJ tells her not to bother because what he needs to know is if Dominic is his brother. EJ wants Cat to focus on the veracity of the birth certificate naming Marlena as his mother and Stefano as his father. Cat says in order to do that, she would need to see the birth certificate or at least know where it can be found. EJ responds that Marlena must have a copy since she told Rita about it. Cat questions why Marlena would agree to show her a copy and says she doesn&#8217;t even know what she would say to Marlena about why she even knows about the birth certificate in the first place. EJ argues that she must know Marlena&#8217;s passwords from her days as her assistant. EJ suggests Cat inviting Marlena to lunch to discuss a book she&#8217;s reading and when she steps away, she can search her phone. EJ adds that Cat could also get Marlena to invite her to her home so she can look around.<\/p>\n<p>Steve questions Johnny having a plan to get George&#8217;s laptop. Johnny confirms that he does and reveals that he just fired him. Johnny adds that he knows George went in to the lab with his laptop, but when he came in to his office, it wasn&#8217;t with him so it must still be in the lab. Johnny declares that he has disabled George&#8217;s access, so he can&#8217;t get anywhere near it while Steve points out that they can.<\/p>\n<p>Kayla asks Sarah if she knows if Brady reached out to Kristen. Sarah asks why she would think that. Kayla explains that Rachel has been asking for her mom ever since she&#8217;s been in the hospital and she knows about Brady and Kristen&#8217;s relationship, but she thought he may have reached out. Sarah claims not to know if he did. Kayla asks if she thinks Brady knows where Kristen is. Sarah claims she doesn&#8217;t think anyone is.<\/p>\n<p>Kristen questions Brady telling her to leave as if she&#8217;s a bad parent and he&#8217;s a saint. Kristen argues that Rachel has obviously been sick for days and asks where Brady was and why he didn&#8217;t get her medical care sooner. Brady tells her not to question his parenting when she chose to walk out and leave. Kristen argues that she had no choice and that she did it to keep Rachel safe. Brady argues that she did it to keep herself safe and their daughter doesn&#8217;t deserve to have a mother who dips in and out of her life for reasons she can&#8217;t understand. Kristen complains that Rachel knows she would never willingly leave her and that&#8217;s why she&#8217;s been asking for her. Brady remarks that Rachel is just attached to the fantasy that Kristen will be the mother she needs. Brady adds that Rachel called out for her because she was sick, but before that she hadn&#8217;t really mentioned her. Kristen doesn&#8217;t believe that. Brady then informs Kristen that Rachel did say even though Kristen is her mom, she doesn&#8217;t have to trust her and that bad things always seem to happen when she&#8217;s around, so maybe her life would be better without her there.<\/p>\n<p>Cat questions EJ wanting her to go through Marlena&#8217;s phone and belongings and says she can&#8217;t betray her trust like that. EJ argues that he can&#8217;t think of another way to get ahold of the birth certificate and it&#8217;s very important that they do. EJ says he has so many questions and things he doesn&#8217;t understand. EJ questions why Stefano would keep having another son secret and why he would plant clues for John and Marlena to find after his death that led to this son. EJ tells Cat that he&#8217;s used to being in control and calling the shots instead of waiting for things to happen to him. EJ declares that he needs the truth and the upper hand very badly. Cat says she understands. EJ asks if she understands how important this is to him. Cat agrees to find a way to get the birth certificate because she can see the pain this is causing him and she will do whatever it takes to help. EJ thanks her and tells her how grateful he is to have her back as he kisses her. EJ decides they should take this upstairs, but George walks in and tells EJ that he needs his help.<\/p>\n<p>Johnny finishes a call and informs Steve that security packed up all of George&#8217;s belongings and did not find any laptop in his lab. Steve asks if there&#8217;s any other place he could&#8217;ve stashed it but Johnny doubts it. Steve is sure George hid the laptop well since he knows it would send him to prison. They agree that George is going to be desperate to get back to it. Steve decides the best plan is for him to keep an eye on George and let him lead them right to it.<\/p>\n<p>Kristen questions Rachel actually saying her life is better without her around and if she came to that conclusion on her own or if she was forced in to it by he and Marlena. Brady argues that Marlena only wants what&#8217;s best for Rachel. Kristen disagrees and says she and Rachel have a bond that can never be broken. Sarah comes back, so Brady asks if Rachel is out of surgery. Sarah confirms that the surgery was successful. Kristen asks when she can see her. Sarah says they need to keep an eye on her for a bit as they hope strong antibiotics will keep her from being septic. Sarah adds that it will be awhile if they want to get something to eat or rest, but Brady and Kristen both refuse to go anywhere.<\/p>\n<p>Kayla goes to her office and records a summary of Rachel&#8217;s surgery until she gets a call from Steve, who asks if she&#8217;s still at work. Kayla tells him about Rachel having an emergency surgery after some complications, but it was a success and she&#8217;s hopeful they were able to deal with the problem. Steve sends his best to Brady as he knows this has been hard on him. Steve informs Kayla that he called to tell her he&#8217;s probably not coming home tonight as he&#8217;s doing a stakeout to try and find proof that Sarah was framed. Kayla guesses she can put up with sleeping alone for something that important but assures she will miss him.<\/p>\n<p>EJ asks Cat to excuse them so he and George can talk in private, so Cat exits. EJ questions George barging in to his home like that and says thankfully he was with someone he could trust. George responds that Johnny just fired him and had security escort him out of the building, forcing him to leave his laptop behind. EJ questions if he altered Destiny&#8217;s medical records on it. George confirms he did everything on it including forging documents. George warns that there is information on his laptop that could incriminate both of them. EJ argues that this is all on George since he did the dirty work. George shouts that it was on EJ&#8217;s orders. EJ points out there&#8217;s no proof of that and that George was responsible for disposing of those pills which he did sloppily and cheap. EJ remarks that if George did his job properly, none of this would&#8217;ve happened and no one would&#8217;ve died. George responds that none of this would&#8217;ve happened if Johnny hadn&#8217;t gone to the police with his accusations. EJ says that ship has sailed so there&#8217;s no use looking back. George says EJ is trying to convince himself of his own lie when he&#8217;s just as guilty as he is.
