Belle says she&#8217;s sorry Marlena has to spend her birthday like this. Marlena says all she wants is for Rachel to be okay as she&#8217;s worried about her. Belle says she is too, but she&#8217;s also worried about Marlena. Marlena says she&#8217;s alright, but Belle says she knows that&#8217;s not true.<\/p>\n<p>Paulina and Lani babysit and clean at Chanel and Johnny&#8217;s apartment. They laugh about the special donuts. Lani mentions that Chanel will probably need one after her final round of chemo. Paulina calls that one last thing for her to worry about, but says she&#8217;s still worried about why Johnny went to the police station last night. Paulina says she tried to get it out of he and Chanel before they left this morning but they were tight lipped.<\/p>\n<p>Johnny checks on Chanel at the hospital. Chanel talks about feeling sick but she&#8217;s not sure if it&#8217;s the chemo or what Johnny told her about EJ and the company. Johnny knows it&#8217;s a lot, but notes that she hadn&#8217;t said much. Johnny says he needs to know what she&#8217;s thinking.<\/p>\n<p>At the DiMera Mansion, Sydney is on her laptop in the living room when Dante suddenly appears and comments on her being hard at work as always. Sydney is surprised and questions what he&#8217;s doing there as she gets up to hug him and says it&#8217;s always good to see him, adding that she was just e-mailing him with a work question but says it can wait as it&#8217;s nothing urgent. Sydney asks when he got there. Dante says his plane landed a couple hours and he came straight from the airport, hoping to catch her at her Salem home. Dante adds that he was hoping to finally meet her dad and asks if he&#8217;s around. Sydney responds that he&#8217;s not and she has no idea where he is.<\/p>\n<p>Leo is handcuffed at the police station, arguing that this is a huge mistake. Jada brings EJ in. Leo asks what brings EJ in. EJ calls it just a little business with Jada and asks what Leo was hauled in for. Leo claims it was parking tickets and guesses they are both surprised to cross paths here. EJ says it seems only one of them is in handcuffs today. Leo says for now.<\/p>\n<p>Chanel tells Johnny that she hates that he covered for EJ, but she knows he was just trying to protect the company and his family. Chanel adds that she doesn&#8217;t need that kind of protection and doesn&#8217;t want it going forward. Johnny assures that he understands that. Chanel says life is too short to hold anything in their hearts but love for each other. Chanel adds that her forgiveness comes with the condition of never again.<\/p>\n<p>Jada sends EJ in to the interrogation room. Leo insists to Jada that he&#8217;s totally innocent and that his life is in danger being near EJ. Leo adds that he would like to use his one phone call to call Javi and let him know why he missed their date. Jada questions if that&#8217;s the best use of his phone call. Leo then decides he&#8217;ll call Gabi, who can explain the entire situation and tell Javi that he never would&#8217;ve missed their date unless it was death or incarceration.<\/p>\n<p>Dante comments on the infamous DiMera Mansion being smaller than he imagined. Sydney points out that he&#8217;s only taken a few steps inside and questions what he&#8217;s doing here anyway. Dante calls it last minute business that came up in Salem so he thought he&#8217;d check in on his favorite employee and future stepdaughter. Dante adds that Sami sends her love. Sydney asks if they are any closer to setting a wedding date or venue. Dante assures they are making progress which Sydney says she&#8217;s glad to hear. Sydney still can&#8217;t believe he&#8217;s here. Dante says he wanted to see her and Salem as he&#8217;s heard so much about it. Dante adds that it gives him an opportunity to deliver a message in person.<\/p>\n<p>Belle tells Marlena that she knows something is really bothering her and something has been upsetting her for the last couple of days, and she respects that she doesn&#8217;t want to share but she wants to be there for her. Belle says she can&#8217;t without knowing. Belle then gets interrupted by a phone call from Sydney, who informs her that Dante has just arrived in Salem and that he spoke to Dominic, who said he&#8217;s planning to come to Salem as soon as he&#8217;s ready to make his move. Belle questions if Dominic is coming to Salem to stay.<\/p>\n<p>Jada thanks EJ for coming on his own volition. EJ asks why not since he has nothing to hide and asks what this is all about. Jada reiterates that it&#8217;s about his suspected involvement in the contaminated drugs and the cover up that could&#8217;ve directly led to Holly&#8217;s hospitalization and Destiny&#8217;s death. EJ claims he&#8217;s afraid she&#8217;s been misinformed. Jada asks who he thinks misinformed her. EJ guesses it was someone with an ax to grind which is nearly everyone in Salem, including her. Jada says they have George mentioned as being involved and a squad car is bringing him to the station as they speak, so he better hope their stories match up.<\/p>\n<p>Paulina asks Lani how the podcast went since she rushed over to help with the babies and didn&#8217;t have a chance to listen yet. Lani admits it went well and felt nice to speak openly about helping Holly and losing her job in law enforcement. Lani adds that she&#8217;s really grateful that Paulina encouraged her to do it. Paulina wants the world to hear how amazing she is. Lani guesses they wil find out what people think. Paulina asks her to bring up the podcast on her phone so she can listen.<\/p>\n<p>Marlena asks Belle when Dominic is coming to Salem. Belle tells her that Sydney said whenever he&#8217;s ready to make his move and she&#8217;s not sure what that means, but maybe it&#8217;s renovating the Kiriakis Mansion. Marlena questions if it&#8217;s possible that he&#8217;s sending a message and if &#8220;make a move&#8221; could mean the next step in Stefano&#8217;s dastardly plan. Marlena complains that she&#8217;s so sick of all this. Marlena declares that part of her wants to meet Dominic and find out the truth, but part of her doesn&#8217;t want to know anything at all. Belle asks what she doesn&#8217;t want to know. Marlena says it&#8217;s been very difficult so she hadn&#8217;t said anything sooner, but they found Dominic&#8217;s birth certificate on Stefano&#8217;s island and Steve showed it to her on his phone. Marlena reveals to Belle that it has her listed as the mother. Belle states that would mean Dominic Marino is her brother. Marlena responds that she hopes not.<\/p>\n<p>Sydney thanks Dante for reaching out to Dominic since her family has a bazillion questions about him. Dante says Sami has been bombarding him nonstop which is understandable. Sydney asks if he&#8217;s sure Dominic never mentioned a connection to her family or Salem. Dante says not that he remembers, but they were in school a long time ago. Sydney asks if he thinks Dominic is definitely coming to Salem. Dante states that Dominic has always been a man of his word, so if he says he&#8217;s coming, he&#8217;s coming. Sydney notes that he seems pretty certain about that given he barely sees him anymore. Dante admits they aren&#8217;t as close as they once were, but he still considers Dominic Marino one of the best friends he&#8217;s ever had.<\/p>\n<p>Chanel asks Johnny what he thinks is going to happen to EJ now that he&#8217;s given his statement to the police. Johnny guesses they will bring him in for questioning. Chanel says he&#8217;s just going to deny everything. Johnny says he&#8217;s sure that he will try, but the information he gave them will make that difficult. Chanel wonders if EJ won&#8217;t walk this time, but Johnny admits part of him kind of hopes that he does.<\/p>\n<p>EJ tells Jada that he is guilty of putting his trust in the wrong man and agrees that George is who she should be talking to because he had nothing to do with this alleged contamination. Jada informs him that the claim says the two of them were in on it together and that EJ ordered the cover up two years ago while he was CEO of the company. EJ laughs that off as utter nonsense. Jada says she&#8217;s not done and continues that EJ demanded having the pills dug up on Smith Island and had the evidence destroyed and the tests altered. Jada asks if there&#8217;s any truth to these claims. EJ points out that she has no physical evidence, so he thinks she knows the answer to that and calls the allegations absurd. Jada responds that they have very specific details. EJ says that&#8217;s from their claimant, which Jada says is not George, so EJ concludes the only other would be his son Johnny.<\/p>\n<p>Johnny tells Chanel that filing the police report was not to get EJ sent to prison. Chanel argues that nailing EJ has been a top priority for Rafe and the police forever, so prison is the endgame. Johnny argues that EJ is not the one who disposed of those drugs illegally and when he did find out what was going on, he tried to make it right and made sure that Sarah could save Holly. Chanel tells Johnny that EJ is not some hero for cleaning up a mess that he knowingly made. Chanel calls EJ a monster. Johnny says not to him, he&#8217;s his dad and always will be.<\/p>\n<p>Jada asks if EJ is claiming Johnny committed a criminal act by filing a false report with the police, pointing out that EJ did everything to save Johnny before even after he brought a gun to his house to shoot him. Jada decides she&#8217;ll give EJ a minute to think this over and exits the room.<\/p>\n<p>Belle tells Marlena that this is shocking to her too, but she wonders why it&#8217;s causing Marlena so much pain. Marlena says because if the birth certificate is true, then she is the mother and Stefano is the father. Belle can&#8217;t believe it and asks if that&#8217;s even possible. Marlena assures that she and Stefano were never intimate but she was in a coma, so she has no memory of that period and questions it being possible that she had a child she never even knew existed by a man who has been haunting her from beyond the grave. Belle now understands why she&#8217;s been so upset. Belle states that Marlena always told her you can&#8217;t face your problems when your head&#8217;s buried in the sand, so they are going to face this head on and they need answers. Belle declares that when Dominic comes to town, they will get a DNA test and get the answers that way. Marlena agrees they will do that, but wishes she wasn&#8217;t so frightened by what the results might show.<\/p>\n<p>Jada informs Leo that Gabi just confirmed that he bought the counterfeit purses at her request and she&#8217;s not pressing charges. Leo declares that means he&#8217;s free to go but Jada says not so fast. Jada brings up that when questioned earlier, Leo said he planned to use the counterfeit bags to take down EJ&#8217;s criminal empire. Jada reminds Leo that he is a journalist, not a criminal investigator, so he doesn&#8217;t have the right to dig up potentially dangerous situations. Jada warns Leo to stand down before getting arrested is the least of his problems. Leo agrees while Jada goes to get him cleared for release. Leo then remarks to himself that will be when he gets to the bottom of DiMera&#8217;s underworld operations.<\/p>\n<p>Marlena tells Belle that she&#8217;s right that she needs to know the truth and face it head on. Belle is so glad she shared this with her. Marlena asks to keep it between them as she doesn&#8217;t want the world to know yet, so Belle agrees. Belle then gets a call from Jada, who says she needs Belle to get to the police station as soon as she can since she has EJ in the interrogation room. Belle tells her that she&#8217;s having a family situation and doesn&#8217;t think she can get down there. Marlena tells her to go as all she&#8217;ll be doing here is waiting. Belle thinks with everything going on, she shouldn&#8217;t leave her right now. Marlena points out that Kate and Brady are there if she needs anything and she&#8217;ll keep her updated on Rachel. Marlena adds that she could even use a little time alone.<\/p>\n<p>Lani doesn&#8217;t want to get her hopes up that the podcast will change anything for her, but admits she&#8217;d be really happy if what she said helps the people of Salem stay safe, especially young women like Holly. Paulina says Lani is always thinking of others ahead of herself. Paulina then gets a call from the Governor and says she hopes he&#8217;s given some thought to her request. Paulina thinks the Governor is looking at this the wrong way and argues that her daughter would be an asset to the police department and the entire city. Paulina insists that Lani is a hero, but he refuses her pardon so she thanks him for his time and hangs up. Paulina then informs Lani that he turned her down.<\/p>\n<p>Leo goes to the hospital and brings Marlena flowers for her birthday in the waiting room. Marlena apologizes for getting so caught up with Rachel that she forgot to cancel their appointment. Leo says it&#8217;s okay and asks if there&#8217;s any updates on Rachel. Marlena hopes to hear something very soon and asks how he is. Leo admits he&#8217;s not great as he had a lunch date with Javi, but ended up in handcuffs and not in a good way.<\/p>\n<p>Belle joins Jada at the police station and asks if she got anything out of EJ yet. Jada says EJ just denied everything but now they have George being questioned. Belle hopes that he gives them something to corroborate Johnny&#8217;s story. Jada says it&#8217;s not likely as he&#8217;s lawyered up and pleading the fifth. Belle says they have to get something because right now it&#8217;s just Johnny&#8217;s word against EJ&#8217;s and that won&#8217;t be close to enough.<\/p>\n<p>Sydney thanks Dante for vouching for her and getting her in to the poker game in Monte Carlo. Dante jokes for her to win next time while Sydney says there was nothing she could&#8217;ve done as Philip was on an insane hot streak. Sydney adds that Philip went on to make a killing at Roulette. Dante calls him lucky which Sydney says is an understatement, pointing out that Philip made an insane amount of money to save his company and that EJ is really pissed about that.<\/p>\n<p>Belle enters the interrogation room. EJ mocks that Belle has spent every moment since they split up, wanting to see him hang. Belle states that his son is implicating him and they know he wouldn&#8217;t do that unless every iota of his statement was true. EJ responds that Johnny&#8217;s had a difficult time as of late with two small children, a wife with cancer, and running a large corporation, so he clearly misinterpreted what he heard.<\/p>\n<p>Johnny guesses whatever happens next is out of his hands and says he gave his statement and will testify if he&#8217;s asked to. Johnny adds that he&#8217;s hoping his lawyer can get him an immunity deal for coming forward since they&#8217;d want to go after the big fish instead of him. Johnny tells Chanel that he&#8217;s so sorry it&#8217;s come to this point. Chanel tells him not to be as when it came down to it, he did the right thing and she&#8217;s really proud of him. Chanel adds that she&#8217;s so glad he&#8217;s getting out of DiMera. Johnny then clarifies that unless he&#8217;s in prison or gets fired, he&#8217;s not leaving DiMera and has no intention of giving up his job as CEO.<\/p>\n<p>Paulina can&#8217;t believe the Governor turned her down and says he wouldn&#8217;t even be Governor if it wasn&#8217;t for her. Lani says she appreciates her trying but it&#8217;s okay. Paulina argues that it&#8217;s not okay as it&#8217;s about right and wrong. Paulina looks up the podcast comments and reads people saying Lani is a true hero and they wish more officers were like her, so she&#8217;s far from the only one who thinks Lani deserves justice. Paulina then sends the podcast to the Governor, arguing that he needs to know that the public stand behind her. Lani points out that she hasn&#8217;t even listened to it yet. Paulina says she doesn&#8217;t need to because she knows Lani and she&#8217;s not going down without a fight.<\/p>\n<p>Chanel argues that she thought Johnny was done with all of this. Johnny responds that he is done with the lies and the secrets, but points out that when the truth comes out, DiMera is going to take a huge hit. Chanel says so be it, while Johnny insists that he has to fix it. Johnny says it&#8217;s not just for Sarah and her reputation, but for Destiny&#8217;s family and the thousands of employees who depend on DiMera for their livelihoods. Johnny wants to build DiMera in to something that their kids and Chanel can be proud of. Chanel says she&#8217;s trying to understand but she&#8217;s not sure she has fight in her right now and sometimes the best way to win is to just walk away.<\/p>\n<p>Dante asks Sydney if she&#8217;s enjoying her time in Salem. Sydney says it&#8217;s been great seeing all the people she&#8217;s missed, especially her brother Johnny. Sydney adds that she got to meet her newest niece and nephew. Dante says he&#8217;s glad. Dante adds that he can extend her remote work time if she&#8217;d like so she can spend more time there. Sydney feels she gets more done in the office with fewer distractions and greater efficiency. Sydney adds that she also misses her mom and Italy. Sydney decides she&#8217;ll think about it and let him know.<\/p>\n<p>Belle admits that she has nothing to hold EJ on right now, but she is certain she&#8217;ll be seeing him again soon. Belle warns that if he threatens Johnny in any way, she&#8217;ll be more than happy to prosecute him for harassment. EJ says he would never as he loves his son unconditionally. Belle says she loves her nephew. EJ asks if she and Chad have learned any more about Dominic Marino. Belle says no. EJ questions no one uncovering anything including Paul and the ISA. Belle says there&#8217;s been nothing and asks about him. EJ says he&#8217;s afraid his sources haven&#8217;t been as forthcoming as he&#8217;d hoped. Belle says she&#8217;s sorry to hear that.<\/p>\n<p>Leo tells Marlena that the worst part wasn&#8217;t being in the presence of criminals but missing his date with Javi. Leo says he called him as soon as he was released and it went straight to voicemail, so he&#8217;s clearly avoiding him and he&#8217;ll probably never see him again. Leo then decides this can wait until regular office hours and he will just quietly sit with her which Marlena admits would be so nice.<\/p>\n<p>Belle asks Jada if there&#8217;s any updates. Jada says even with Johnny&#8217;s very compelling statement, they don&#8217;t have enough to hold EJ. Jada asks if Belle got anything out of him. Belle says no, but that EJ is deeply rattled and she doesn&#8217;t think it&#8217;s this investigation that has him all worried.<\/p>\n<p>EJ returns home and says he wasn&#8217;t aware Sydney was having visitors. Sydney then introduces EJ to Dante Vitali. EJ says he&#8217;s heard a lot about him but nothing from Sami. Dante says that&#8217;s funny because Sami has told him quite a bit about EJ. EJ says he&#8217;s glad Dante is there as there&#8217;s something he&#8217;d like to ask him, but Dante says there&#8217;s no time as he has to get to a meeting. Dante tells Sydney that he&#8217;ll be in touch and exits. EJ then sits down in frustration as Sydney asks if he&#8217;s okay. EJ responds that it&#8217;s been one hell of a day, but he&#8217;s so grateful to have her home as she has no idea how much it means to him right now as they embrace.<\/p>\n<p>Paulina and Lani bring Trey and Olivia to the hospital to surprise Chanel and Johnny. Chanel says she didn&#8217;t know they would be there as she hugs Lani, who says they wouldn&#8217;t miss it for anything. Chanel thanks everyone at the hospital for their amazing care. Chanel says when she first got diagnosed, she had a hard time believing this day would ever come but now she&#8217;s so lucky to be at the end of chemo and doesn&#8217;t take it for granted for one minute. Chanel declares that she cherishes every single moment of her life more than ever. Chanel talks about being so lucky to have gotten so much love and support from her family. Chanel then rings the bell, symbolizing the end of her chemo.
