Theo responds that she&#8217;s doing well and adds that he&#8217;s sorry to hear about Philip and Gabi. Philip adds that he&#8217;s sorry that Gabi dragged him in to the mess. Philip brings up Theo knowing what Gabi did and keeping it to himself. Theo says he&#8217;s sorry but Philip says that Gabi is the one who should&#8217;ve told him and she really let him down. Theo says she let him down too.<\/p>\n<p>Leo shows up at the Hernandez house where Gabi greets him at the door and guesses he&#8217;s there to spy on Javi and his handsome new boyfriend Gus. Rafe gets a call from Cat, who says she needs to see him. Rafe tells her that Gabi&#8217;s about to leave, so his place should be clear soon. Cat agrees to meet him there.<\/p>\n<p>Chad enters the living room of the DiMera Mansion where EJ greets him and questions what he&#8217;s doing there. Chad informs him that he just had breakfast with Tony, who told him that Theo is going to be working alongside Johnny at DiMera. EJ says he can&#8217;t fathom why Tony doesn&#8217;t trust Johnny in the CEO position, so he managed to convince him that this was a satisfying compromise. Chad jokes that he never thought he&#8217;d see the day the DiMera brothers were compromising. EJ smiles and responds that he never thought he&#8217;d see the day that Chad and Belle were kissing on live television as he tells him well done.<\/p>\n<p>Belle talks to Marlena at home about how she can&#8217;t believe Xander and Kate set Johnny up like they did. Belle asks if Xander still expects Marlena to work with Kate at Basic Black. Marlena says they haven&#8217;t got in to specifics but she&#8217;s sure they&#8217;ll work something out since it is John&#8217;s company and she wants to honor him. Marlena wants to keep it in the family and doesn&#8217;t want Kate&#8217;s poor judgment to keep her from doing that.<\/p>\n<p>Xander finishes a call at Titan as Johnny arrives, asking about Xander wanting to see him and questions what&#8217;s so important that he was summoned to his office for a face to face when they have e-mail. Xander says he had to do this in person. Johnny informs him that Theo already told him he&#8217;s dropping the lawsuit and assumes it&#8217;s because he knew he wouldn&#8217;t win. Xander responds that he doesn&#8217;t know what the outcome would&#8217;ve been but admits that Johnny was right that he decided to bait him with the manuscript to set him up for a lawsuit which he calls deeply shameful as he apologizes.<\/p>\n<p>Leo tells Gabi that he&#8217;s not there to spy on Javi and Gus, saying he&#8217;s also on assignment so he came to get a quote from Rafe. Gabi tells him that he can use the phone. Gabi then tells Leo that Javi and Gus are maddeningly happy together, so he can stop lurking. Gabi warns that if Leo causes trouble for them, he will have to answer to them and walks off. Leo tells himself to stop kidding himself as Javi has a hotter boyfriend now and he&#8217;s just an afterthought, if he even thinks of him at all.<\/p>\n<p>Johnny tells Xander that he knew he and Kate set him up no matter how much they denied it, but questions why he&#8217;s admitting it now. Xander explains that he&#8217;s been doing self work and trying to make amends for his bad behavior. Xander doesn&#8217;t expect him to accept his apology but Johnny says he does as life is too short to get hung up on petty grievances and drama. Johnny thanks Xander for doing the right thing and says he has bigger things to worry about, so he exits.<\/p>\n<p>Chad questions EJ watching baseball. EJ explains that Cat was over and is quite the fan. EJ admits they nearly missed Chad&#8217;s big TV debut, but they were engaged in a little liplock of their own.<\/p>\n<p>Cat walks through the town square and thinks back to kissing EJ, then seeing Chad and Belle kiss on TV.<\/p>\n<p>Marlena tells Belle that it looks like she, Chad, and the kids had a fun time at the baseball game. They laugh about seeing Chad and Belle kiss on TV. Marlena says it was so cute while Belle wishes it wasn&#8217;t on television for the world to see. Belle tells Marlena about Thomas catching a foul ball which thrilled him. Belle brings up that she and Chad talked about the chess set that Stefano left her and Chad agreed to look in to it, but she wanted to make sure it was okay with her. Marlena is not crazy about the idea but agrees to whatever she wants to do. Marlena asks her to just promise to be careful which she does. Marlena then asks Belle not to tell her whatever she finds out because she doesn&#8217;t want to know. Marlena then exits.<\/p>\n<p>Philip joins Xander at Titan and says he just passed Johnny outside, so he assumes Xander finally confessed to railroading him which Xander confirms. Philip asks how it went. Xander says it went surprisingly well as he accepted his apology and said life&#8217;s too short. Xander suggests maybe Philip should take a page out of his book, pointing out that Philip has made quite a few dodgy maneuvers over the years and people have been gracious enough to forgive him for. Philip guesses that he&#8217;s saying since people are forgiving each other, he should forgive Gabi.<\/p>\n<p>Chad complains that EJ just couldn&#8217;t wait to rub that in. EJ remarks that at least he and Cat were under the radar when they kissed while Chad and Belle went full Hollywood premiere. Chad tells EJ to get over himself and that he knows damn well it wasn&#8217;t his intention to be on camera. Chad then tells EJ that he&#8217;s sorry if it made him uncomfortable to see his ex having a good time with someone who treats her right. EJ admits he&#8217;s made plenty of mistakes with women in the past, but says he has changed in that regard as he&#8217;s sure Cat would tell him that he&#8217;s been a perfect gentleman. Chad argues that Cat doesn&#8217;t know him like he does while EJ argues that Chad might not know Cat as well as he does. EJ adds that he and Cat share a wonderful connection that they are just beginning to understand. Chad says sometimes he can&#8217;t tell if EJ thinks he&#8217;s in Goodfellas or When Harry Met Sally. EJ calls both classics, so he takes that as a compliment. EJ says he&#8217;s sorry if he rattled him. Chad decides it&#8217;s time for him to go, so he exits as EJ laughs.<\/p>\n<p>Cat goes to see Rafe, who asks what she&#8217;s got. Cat tells him it&#8217;s unfortunately bad news as EJ did a complete 180 on giving them the miracle drug. Rafe guesses there goes their chance to analyze the drug and questions why he changed his mind. Cat isn&#8217;t sure but guesses there&#8217;s a problem with the drug.<\/p>\n<p>Johnny goes to the DiMera Mansion. EJ congratulates him on the good news and asks if he knows why Xander and Kate dropped the lawsuit. Johnny reveals that Xander admitted it was a setup. EJ calls him a son of a bitch and says they will live to regret it, but Johnny stops him and says he can&#8217;t keep going through this revenge cycle as life&#8217;s too short. EJ reluctantly agrees and asks if Johnny came to pay homage to Tony before he and Anna depart. Johnny reveals that he came to ask EJ why the hell he said no to Paulina when she came begging for a drug that could save Chanel&#8217;s life.<\/p>\n<p>Leo goes to see Marlena for his therapy session at the hospital. Marlena asks how he is. Leo talks about feeling insecurities and right now, he&#8217;s really worried about a friend of his, his only real friend. Marlena guesses he&#8217;s talking about Gwen. Leo confirms that he is and that they had a legendary falling out last year, but they are back to being each other&#8217;s emotional support disasters. Leo says he could really use Marlena&#8217;s sage advice because he&#8217;s really scared for Gwen.<\/p>\n<p>Xander tells Philip that it&#8217;s not his place to tell him what to do, but his breakup with Gabi has clearly made him terribly unhappy. Philip corrects that finding out Gabi was lying to his face for their entire relationship has made him terribly unhappy. Philip guesses that Xander only wants him to forgive Gabi so he can be part of their inheritance. Xander calls that a fringe benefit, but insists that he does care about him and that it&#8217;s obvious to everyone how miserable he is. Xander tells Philip that holding onto this anger will only hurt him in the long run.<\/p>\n<p>Leo tells Marlena about being worried that EJ will be out for revenge against Gwen for bidding on the hospital against him and how they&#8217;ve both double crossed each other. Leo states that Gwen knows stuff which means she&#8217;s in grave danger. Marlena worries that someone else could be in danger because if something happened to Gwen and she gave Leo certain information, then he could be in danger himself.<\/p>\n<p>Rafe questions why Cat thinks there&#8217;s a problem with the drug. Cat says first, EJ changes his mind about giving her mom the drug and then she went to talk to Mark, who freaked out and said he didn&#8217;t want the drug anywhere near their mom but wouldn&#8217;t say why. They wonder what this could mean for Lexie.<\/p>\n<p>EJ tells Johnny that if he truly believed the drug would help Chanel, he would give it to him in a heartbeat but they have no idea how it would affect her pregnancy and he&#8217;s not keen on the idea of using Chanel as a lab rat when a potential cure is already available. Johnny says he can understand that and adds that Chanel has no idea he&#8217;s here and doesn&#8217;t even want the drug. Johnny states that he just needs to know that if something goes wrong with Chanel&#8217;s treatment down the line and they need a miracle, would EJ reconsider.<\/p>\n<p>Chad goes to see Belle. They talk about everyone seeing them kissing last night. Belle tells him that she told Marlena that they were going to try to figure out the mystery of Stefano&#8217;s chess set and she was really cool about it, so she was hoping he could take a look at it. Chad thinks a good place to start would be to play a game of chess on it. Belle questions how with a missing pawn. Chad responds that maybe the object of the game is to find it.<\/p>\n<p>EJ assures Johnny that he would consider giving Chanel the drug if it was safe and effective. Johnny points out that Lexie was cured and he hears she&#8217;s thriving. Theo comes in and confirms Lexie is doing great. EJ tells Theo that he&#8217;s so glad he decided to help Johnny steer the ship of DiMera. Theo says he&#8217;s happy to help. Johnny says he&#8217;s been doing some thinking and he wants Theo to do more than just help. Johnny suggests they share the job like Xander and Philip at Titan. EJ suggests taking a step back and calls it a big decision. Theo responds that he&#8217;s cool with it, especially now that he has his mom&#8217;s blessing. Johnny and Theo shake hands and agree to be co-CEOs, upsetting EJ.<\/p>\n<p>Cat tells Rafe that she&#8217;s not sure what this means for Lexie but they should keep an eye on her condition. Rafe hopes that nothing is wrong but remarks that EJ probably put the drug out there knowing it&#8217;s unsafe. Cat hates to think EJ would do that, but decides she needs to make sure he does not succeed if that&#8217;s what he&#8217;s planning. Rafe doesn&#8217;t think he likes the sound of that.<\/p>\n<p>Leo tells Marlena that he knows EJ is dangerous and ruthless, but Gwen couldn&#8217;t rely on anyone else to get justice for her and he&#8217;d do whatever it takes for that. Leo remarks that if he ended up in the afterlife, it&#8217;s not like anyone would grieve for him. Marlena is concerned that he continues to put himself in harm&#8217;s way. Marlena assures that Javi would certainly grieve for him and she would be devastated.<\/p>\n<p>Philip questions Xander talking like a self help book. Xander decides he will no longer advise him on his love life then but asks him to remain co-CEO. Philip says they are at an impasse because he&#8217;s not taking money from Gabi. Xander argues that there has to be a work around. Xander asks if Philip has a better solution that includes lots of zeroes. Gabi then arrives which Philip says is his cue to leave. Gabi stops him and says he will want to hear this.<\/p>\n<p>Theo tells EJ that he&#8217;s been meaning to talk to him about his plan to fight Gabi&#8217;s claim to Stefan&#8217;s inheritance. EJ confirms that he&#8217;s found a handwriting expert willing to contest that Stefan&#8217;s signature was forged. Theo argues that Gabi&#8217;s brother is FBI and can come up with ten different experts to counter those disputes. EJ says that means they can drag this out in court forever. Theo declares that they know Gabi is telling the truth and that she has Ivan&#8217;s statement along with multiple experts of her own who concluded that Vivian signed the paper. Theo knows EJ can get his experts to say what he needs but argues that it&#8217;s not the right thing to do and he cares about that.<\/p>\n<p>Chad brings up John being Stefano&#8217;s pawn. Belle insists that he was brainwashed and agrees that the missing pawn is about John, but argues that Stefano couldn&#8217;t have known that John would be gone before the will reading. Chad says the message would&#8217;ve been to John instead of about him, so they need to think like John. Belle wonders what the missing pawn would mean to John. Chad points out that it&#8217;s a pawn but not the pawn. Belle questions if he thinks there&#8217;s another pawn out there that they don&#8217;t know about.<\/p>\n<p>Leo thanks Marlena but asks why she brought up Javi when they were talking about Gwen, not his love life. Leo adds that there&#8217;s no point in talking about Javi because he&#8217;s blown any chance of ever getting back together with him because Javi has a new boyfriend who is perfect. Leo complains that he&#8217;s trying to be happy for Javi since he deserves good things. Marlena tells Leo that he does too.<\/p>\n<p>Chad guesses it could be possible that there&#8217;s another pawn since Stefano did brainwash a lot of people. Belle doesn&#8217;t know of anyone else he called a pawn. Chad decides to take a better look at the chess set, so Belle goes to get it.<\/p>\n<p>Rafe reminds Cat that he warned her about going rogue. Cat argues that she&#8217;s not going rogue if Rafe is telling her what to do. Cat wants to do her job well and insists that she&#8217;s finally starting to earn EJ&#8217;s trust. Rafe questions how she knows that. Cat reveals that EJ told her that he&#8217;s still in touch with Dr. Rolf and she knows she can get more information out of him. Cat adds that EJ made it clear that he&#8217;s attracted to her and wants to pursue a relationship if she&#8217;s interested. Cat declares that her instincts are telling her the only way to get EJ to let his guard down is for her to get close to him personally.<\/p>\n<p>EJ is surprised since Theo doesn&#8217;t typically let his friendships cloud his judgment. Theo argues that he and Gabi are not friends at all, but he doesn&#8217;t want to be in a battle against her because he doesn&#8217;t want to be around her at all. EJ questions Theo letting go of all that money because someone hurt his feelings. Theo argues that it&#8217;s not about that and that the right thing to do is to give Stefan&#8217;s inheritance to Gabi, so that&#8217;s what they are going to do.<\/p>\n<p>Gabi states that Philip made it clear that he doesn&#8217;t want her money but Xander felt otherwise. Xander assumes Gabi came to share the wealth. Gabi reminds Xander that she said she needed something in return and she now knows what that something is.<\/p>\n<p>Rafe tells Cat hell no and reminds her that he&#8217;s told her again and again how dangerous EJ is. Rafe warns that there&#8217;s no telling what EJ will do when he finds out she&#8217;s playing him, so he has to say no on this. Cat responds that he can&#8217;t. Cat appreciates his concern but he&#8217;s her partner and not her boss. Rafe says they can see what her boss Andrew has to say about this then.<\/p>\n<p>Belle tells Chad that she&#8217;d love to go down this rabbit hole with him but she has to get to work. Chad says he&#8217;ll just take it with him then and see what he can do. Belle thanks Chad. Chad tells her that they have a couple of big fans in Thomas and Charlotte. Belle is glad they had a good time. Chad says they aren&#8217;t the only ones. Belle suggests they relive her favorite part as they kiss.<\/p>\n<p>Johnny walks through the town square with a bouquet of flowers and comments that he hopes Chanel likes them as he sits down at a table looking sad.<\/p>\n<p>Leo tells Marlena that it was kind of her to say but after the rotten things he&#8217;s done, he wouldn&#8217;t blame the universe for ghosting him. Marlena wants him to focus on the kind and selfless things he&#8217;s done. Marlena praises Leo for being loyal and owning up to his own mistakes, so she&#8217;d like to see him be on his own side. Leo thanks her and promises to work on that. Leo adds that if he vanishes, he gives Marlena permission to expose everything he said and to point the finger at EJ.<\/p>\n<p>EJ warns Theo that this affects the entire family so he cannot make these decisions unilaterally. Theo argues that since Stefano removed EJ and made him the executor of the will, he absolutely can. EJ tells Theo not to make him regret asking Johnny to have him help at DiMera. Theo responds that he&#8217;s already told Gabi that she can have her share of the inheritance and as a man of his word, he&#8217;s not going back on it.<\/p>\n<p>Gabi tells Philip that she knows he was concerned about her buying his forgiveness, so that&#8217;s not what she&#8217;s doing. Gabi then announces she&#8217;s buying in to the company and in exchange, she&#8217;s entitled to a healthy portion of Titan&#8217;s shares and a seat on the board. Gabi says that Titan gets a healthy influx of cash and when her investment saves the company, she&#8217;ll get a slice of the pie. Gabi adds that she will have an agreement drawn up for them all to sign. Philip says he and Xander have to discuss it but Xander says they need the money and here&#8217;s a way for them to get it while preserving Philip&#8217;s dignity.
