No, no, no, I don’t think you’d be intruding at all. I’m sure Dad would, uh… he’d love to hear from you.

[chuckles] Okay. Love you, too, Syd.

[phone beeps]

Surprise.

[both chuckle]

Hey. Oh, man. Did you, uh– did you just get back?

Yeah, plane landed a couple hours ago.

Well, I am very glad to see you. I missed you.

I missed you, too.

So… how’s Lani?

She’s good, considering. Uh, but she’s still on track to be released at the end of the year.

That’s great.

How was your dad’s wedding? I’m so sorry I missed it.

Uh, yeah, the wedding was–was fine, But, um… I have some pretty bad news. Uh… something terrible happened to my dad and Nicole last night.

[monitor beeping]

I, um… I just spoke with Rafe. They–they still haven’t found Dimitri, which is of no surprise given the shameful incompetence of the Salem PD. But I promise you, I will not let this go. My bastard nephew will be brought to justice.

What difference does it make, EJ? Nothing matters now. My baby’s gone, and nothing’s going to bring him back.

[grunts] How’s the baby?

[scoffs] In better shape than I am. Kid’s got lungs like Pavarotti. Kept me up half the night.

Well, you don’t think he’s sick, do you? Does he have a fever?

Sloan, he’s a newborn. Crying is, like, his only skill. It’s practically his job. Just relax, okay?

Sorry. Not normally such a loon.

Oh, I’d only be worried if you weren’t a loon. It’s your first time being a mom.

Yeah… and my first time stealing another woman’s child.

Hey, I thought we were going to focus on the positive.

Okay. Okay. Pierce, Dr. Pierce, did he say anything about Nicole? How’d she take the news?

That is hardly focusing on the positive. But, no, he didn’t say anything about Nicole, and I didn’t ask either.

[scoffs] Yeah, well, it was a stupid question anyway. I’m sure she’s devastated about the baby, and it’s all my fault.

[dramatic music]

I mean it, Gil. Stop it right there, or I will end you.

I don’t think you will.

Hey, Ava. It’s Harris. I know I’m a little early.

[gunshot] Ava? Ava?

[both breathing heavily] Ava, what happened?

He’s dead. I killed him.

[soft orchestration] announcer: Like sands through the hourglass, so are the “Days of Our Lives.”

[dramatic music]

You’re definitely right. He’s dead.

Oh, God.

It’s okay. Come here. Sit down.

[sighs]

Okay, uh, this is the second body I found in this apartment. Am I right to assume this is not connected to Li’s death?

Yeah, you’re right to assume.

Ava, Ava, do you want to tell me what happened?

He just, um… He–he showed up– up at my door, just–just out of the blue.

Okay. Just going to put the gun down. Let go. It’s okay. You want to tell me why… Gil showed up at your door?

Gil, what do you want?

A key.

A key? Right. Oh, you need one to the employee restroom?

[chuckles] It’s not for the restaurant. It’s for the Salem PD evidence room.

Are you kidding? Why?

Apparently one of our lower-level dealers got arrested last night with a certain amount of product on him. Now, he knows better than to flip, but you know how it goes.

[breathes deeply] Cops start poking around, could broaden the investigation, so the evidence needs to disappear.

So why you coming to me with this? How am I supposed to get it?

From your detective boyfriend, of course.

He wanted something from me.

What? What’d he want?

Uh, Eric’s home, so I got to go. Okay.

[phone beeps]

Hey.

Hey.

Who was on the phone?

Melinda. I called her to check in on our son. We still don’t have an exact date yet for his arrival, but it should be soon. And I’m very excited.

[chuckles]

Who’s devastated?

What?

Well, you said something about someone being devastated and it’s all your fault.

Oh. Well, yes, I just– I didn’t really want to bother you with it, but Melinda was saying that– she said that the birth mother is having a difficult time with her decision to give up her child.

Is–is she backing out of the adoption?

No, no, no. She knows it’s for the best. And she’s absolutely going through with it. She’s just… You know, it’s difficult for her, as you can imagine.

Yeah.

And I just–

[sighs] I can’t help but feeling… Really guilty.

Hey. You know what? You have nothing to feel guilty about. You and I, we are going to give this baby a wonderful life.

Yeah.

Is there anything I can do to make you feel more comfortable? Uh, another pillow? Another blanket? I could give you one of your favorite foot massages.

No.

[monitor beeping]

[door opens]

Hey, Mom. How are you? I thought you might be sick of hospital food, so I brought you your favorite pizza…

Ooh.

With extra cheese, just the way you like it.

I’m not hungry.

But I heard you haven’t had anything to eat since yesterday. Right, EJ?

That is true, sweetheart.

Mom, you can’t not eat. It’s not good for you. Here, you should at least have one slice.

I said I’m not hungry!

[sighs]

Oh, my God, Johnny. That is so awful. Your poor dad, and–and Nicole– she must be going through it.

Yeah. It’s a…

[inhales deeply] It’s a nightmare. I just wish there was– I don’t know– something I could do.

Yeah. Well, the only thing you can really do in times like this is just be there, right?

Yeah. Yeah, I suppose you’re right.

Hey, w-what if we made dinner for your dad and Nicole and took it over to the hospital? What–what do you think?

Yeah. Yeah, I think that’d be a great idea. I think they’d really appreciate that.

Okay, great. I am going to go to the kitchen and take a sneak peek and see what we can make, okay?

Okay. Hey, come here.

What?

Just come here.

[chuckles]

I just want to– I want to thank you. You just got back, and you’re already jumping in to help my family.

You’re important to me, and so is your family. I’m happy to do it.

And that is why I love you… one of the many reasons.

[soft music]

I-I’m sorry, Mom. I didn’t–I didn’t mean to upset you.

[monitor beeping]

Look, Holly, your mom’s just exhausted, and I think she just needs to rest, okay? Maybe you can come back another time.

Mom, I’ll stop by again tonight.

Thank you for the pizza.

[beeping continues]

[Nicole sniffles] What can I do, darling?

Um, I’m–I’m tired, and I, uh…

[inhales deeply] I just want to sleep.

I’ll be right outside.

[sobbing softly]

[door closes]

You bought five different kinds of diapers?

[both chuckle]

Well, there are so many different styles and brands.

Uh-huh, I’m sure any one of these is going to work just fine. Do you want to start going and, uh, getting that crib set up?

Uh, actually, I was thinking maybe I should go to the hospital, you know, check on Nicole.

Oh.

Hey, are you not okay with that?

No, of course not. Sorry. I mean, yes, I’m–I’m okay. You should go. What happened to Nicole was really terrible.

Yeah, it was. It’s a terrible twist of fate.

[dramatic music]

[sighs] Okay, Ava, talk to me. What did–what did Gil want?

Well, um… Initially, he– he claimed that he– he came here to discuss work, but then he got all handsy with me, and… he started coming on to me in the most…

[chuckles] Disgusting way, and then I realized… what he was really here for.

I can see that your blouse is torn. Did he try to assault you?

Yeah, he did.

[sighs]

[sighs]

[sighs] He just–he just– he just kept getting closer and… and closer, and then–and I tried to– I tried to–to push him away, but he–he wouldn’t, and so then I just… I grabbed his gun and–

Why–why did he have a gun?

I don’t know. I don’t know. All I know–he attacked me, and now he’s…

[breathes shakily] Oh, my God, Harris. Harris, what–what–what– what have I done? Uh, what–what have I done?

It’s okay. It’s okay.

[sobbing]

It’s okay.

[sobbing] I’m so glad you’re here.

I got you.

[sobbing]

I only wish I would have trusted my instincts.

[sobbing] What do you mean?

As soon as I met that guy…

[sniffles]

I knew he was trouble.

You have no idea.

[cries, sighs]

[Harris sighs, Ava sniffles, sighs]

[cell phone clicking]

[dramatic music]

[grunts]

Hey, Holly. How’s your mom?

Uh, awful. She barely acknowledged me when I came in the room today. She was just kind of… staring off into space. I, uh–I tried to get her to eat some pizza, and she totally snapped at me, so EJ told me I should leave. I think I was only there for, like, two minutes.

I’m really sorry that happened to you.

Yeah. She’s… in hell right now, and… I don’t know. I hated seeing my mom that way. She’s always so strong, you know.

Yeah.

Always the one who was helping me, and now… I don’t know how to help her.

Come here.

[sniffles]

[crying]

EJ. Hey, I just heard about the baby. I’m so sorry.

Oh. Thanks. I’m, uh… I’m so glad you’re here.

[sighs]

There you are.

Is he sleeping?

Shh. I just got him down for a nap, finally.

Little angel.

So what happened with Eric? You ended our call so abruptly.

Oh… Yeah, he overheard the end of our conversation, whenever I said, “She must be devastated about the baby, and it’s all my fault.”

Oh, no.

Yeah, but don’t worry. I just–I told him I was talking about the birth mother and that you had said she was having a very hard time with her decision to give up her child.

Oh. And he bought that, huh?

Yeah, he–he did.

So, um, on a happier note, are you and Eric ready to become parents?

[chuckles]

Almost. Eric bought about half the diapers in Salem already.

[laughs] Oh.

So that’s covered. And we’re going to finish the apartment once he gets back from the hospital.

The hospital? What is he doing there?

He’s, uh, visiting Nicole.

[somber music]

[monitor beeping]

Nicole? Just thought I’d stop by, see how you were doing. You know, I can come back another time.

Eric… Don’t go.

[knock at door, door opens]

Oh.

[grunts]

Whoa. Hey.

Hey.

Didn’t mean to startle you.

Don’t, um–

[inhales deeply] Don’t worry about it. My nerves are just… You know, I just–sorry.

No, you don’t–you don’t have to apologize. You’ve been through something really traumatic. But you don’t have to worry about Gil. He can’t hurt you anymore.

[sinister music]

So what? You going to– you’re going to shoot me now?

I don’t know. Depends on whether you make a move.

[sighs] Why don’t you go ahead? Try me. Test me. See how much I want to blow you away.

You don’t want to do that.

You so sure about that?

Yeah. Yeah, because if you shoot me… your son is dead.

You’re wrong. Gil can still hurt me… badly.

Ava, I don’t– I don’t understand. I mean, Gil’s dead. How can he still hurt you?

Look… what if nobody believes me, that I killed in self-defense? I mean, come on, look at my history. And I just got out of a mental institution where I shot someone.

Yeah, also self-defense.

There is no proof of this.

Okay, your sleeve is torn, right? You said the guy was assaulting you.

Yeah.

Right. CSI is combing the scene as we speak. They’re going to find physical evidence to back up your story.

And what if they don’t?

Then you’re going to have to trust the legal system.

Hmm.

Okay. Or at least–at the very least, just trust me. I will find a way to prove that you’re telling the truth… because I believe you.

Gabi trusted the legal system. And her brother, the commissioner, he made promises, too. Where did it get her? She is still sitting in a cell.

Her case has not gone to trial. She could still be found innocent.

No, not with our new DA. EJ hates her guts. And he is going to exploit his power to keep her locked up forever.

[scoffs] And you want to know who EJ hates even more than Gabi? Spoiler alert… it’s me.

[dramatic music]

Why didn’t you call me last night? I would have came over right away.

I’m sorry. Uh…

[sighs] There was just a lot going on. It’s all a–all a bit of a blur, really.

Right. So how are you holding up? I know that’s a stupid question…

[sighs]

With Nicole being in the accident and… and losing… Oh, my God. It’s just…

Yeah. My God. But it’s Nicole I’m worried about. I just don’t know if she’s going to be able to pull through this. She won’t eat. She–she barely even looks at me. And poor Holly– she stopped by, only to have Nicole snap at her.

[somber music] I want to be there for her, but I also don’t want to push. Chad, I don’t know how to help her.

All right, EJ, listen to me, okay? When I lost Abby… I was in shock, you know, in the first few days at least. And there is nothing that anyone could have said or done that would have made any difference.

[sighs]

And everyone was trying to help. I was oblivious. All right, I just wanted to be left the hell alone.

Hmm.

I was mired in grief. And I didn’t want to be rescued from it. I just shut myself off to the world… From everyone… even the people that I love. That’s what Nicole is doing right now. Okay? So you just need to give it time. And when she’s ready, she will let you know. And when she is, you will be there for her. And you will be strong for her… for both of you.

I hope you’re right.

[scoffs]

[monitor beeping]

Nicole… I’m so sorry for your loss.

Eric, I… I asked you to stay… Because I know you’re a man of God. And I need to know why. Why did this happen?

[inhales deeply] Why–why would God bless me with a child… and let me carry him for all these months and love him and give birth to him… And then just rip him away?

[inhales deeply]

I know this isn’t… an answer… Because there isn’t one. It just–

[sighs]

[breathes deeply]

We just got to believe that this is God’s will. And we got to trust those who love us.

[sobbing softly]

Hey…

[cries softly] It’s not your fault. You’re not alone. You, Nicole… are not alone.

[sobbing]

Does it bother you that Eric went to go see Nicole?

Yes. But it’s not that I’m jealous. It’s… it’s not what’s upsetting me now.

Then what is? He’s obviously just there to comfort her.

Over something that I did.

Uh, Sloan, as I’ve told you many times, guilt is corrosive, and it’s a big waste of time. What’s done is done, and we made a decision, and there’s no going back. Look, eventually Nicole and EJ will adjust to this new reality.

You really think so?

Of course they will. They are very privileged people, wealthy and powerful. They’re not going to wallow in misery forever. They have too much to live for. And as far as Nicole…

[scoffs] I don’t want to sound cold, but it’s not like she’s childless, right? She still has her daughter.

[sighs] Sorry. I didn’t mean to make this all about me.

No, hey, it’s all right, okay? Holly… your mom loves you, okay?

[scoffs]

And–and what you did with the pizza, that was very thoughtful and caring, which is not surprising, because that’s– that’s who you are.

You think I’m thoughtful and caring?

I do, because you are.

Thanks, Johnny. I don’t know what I’d do without you.

[sighs]

Hey, I’m not interrupting anything, am I?

No. No, not at all.

Chanel, hi. I-I didn’t realize you were home. I thought you were visiting your sister still.

Oh, I just got back, actually. And Johnny told me about what happened with your mom. I’m so sorry.

Thanks.

Uh, Johnny and I, we were going to make dinner and take it over to your mom at the hospital, if you want in on that. There’s all the ingredients for lasagna.

Actually, um, Holly was just saying that her mom doesn’t have much of an appetite right now. So maybe we save that idea for another day.

Oh, yeah, o-okay.

Yeah.

Um… okay, well, I’m just going to go upstairs and listen to some music or whatever.

You sure? You can–you’re welcome to– I don’t know–stay down here and hang out with us if you want.

Uh, that’s okay. But thanks for the pep talk. I’m feeling better, really.

Good.

Bye.

Oh, God. Holly’s so upset about her mom. I just… I hope I was able to help.

Oh, I-I think you definitely did, because, uh, when I walked in here…

What?

Mm. It seemed like her mind was on something other than her mom.

What’s that mean?

It means I think Holly’s got a crush on you.

[dramatic music]

I know you’re, um, focused on Nicole right now, but what about you? You taking care of yourself?

[slaps knee] I’m fine.

EJ… you’re not fine. You just lost your baby.

Yeah, you’re right. I’m not fine…

[inhales deeply] But nor am I grieving.

[somber music] I don’t know. Maybe because, uh, I haven’t fully processed that my son is gone. It just seems too cruel… That an innocent little baby could have its life taken away like that. That is so strange, so–so terribly sad… That he existed in this world and I never even had a chance to meet him.

[sighs deeply]

[groans softly] You know, I, um… I went through the same thing with Grace. Before I even knew she was my daughter, she left us. I never got to be a… a father to her. I never got that chance. And I can’t help it but– but think that, um… you know, if I just got to… meet her and spend a little time with her, even if–if it was just for a few fleeting seconds that it– that it would have brought… some comfort… To be able to… you know, carry– carry on in memory of her.

Oh…

[inhales deeply] I’d have given anything for that, anything at all. Hold my son in my arms.

[chuckles] Tell him I love him.

[sighs] No, that was a fantasy.

You’re already in love with him, aren’t you?

Totally. The way he’s looking into my eyes right now, it’s almost like he already knows that I’m his mama.

[chuckles] See? I’m being positive.

Good girl. And you have to stay positive because this little one is now your son, and you and Eric are going to give him a wonderful life.

[chuckles]

[baby coos]

You’ve gone so above and beyond for me.

Ah.

I’m so grateful.

Well, I don’t want to get sappy here, but I did it because you’re my friend. In fact, you are… the only friend I’ve had in a very, very long time.

Well… you’re kind of my only friend, too.

[chuckles] I’m just glad that one of us is getting everything that she wants.

Yeah, even if it comes at the expense of other–

Beh.

Yeah, sorry. Sorry.

[chuckles] I’m going to try and focus on the positive and say that… thanks to you… and this beautiful little baby boy… I do have everything that I want.

[dramatic music] Everything.

[baby cooing]

[monitor beeping]

EJ, I… I just stopped by to check on Nicole… And offer my condolences… to you as well.

Thank you, Eric. I appreciate you stopping by.

Excuse me.

[door closes]

EJ… I hope you don’t think that–

You don’t have to explain. I want you to know that, um… I’m here for you, too… If and when you need me.

Okay, uh… EJ may have it out for you. But you have the truth on your side.

You got a lot more faith in the justice system than I do.

Well, actually, I have some news that could help your case.

What’s that?

Well, since I had a bad feeling about Gil since day one, I did a background check.

And?

And he has a record.

Sexual assault?

Drug offense… which could lend you credibility, obviously.

[chuckles] A drug offense, uh, versus my past as a Mafia princess.

[cell phone beeps]

It’s the CSI team at your place. They want to talk. Hopefully it’s good news. I’ll keep you updated.

[ominous music]

[door opens, closes]

[cell phone vibrating]

Statesville Prison…

[vibrating continues]

[cell phone vibrating]

[sighs]

[cell phone beeps]

Yeah, hello.

Statesville Prison with a collect call. Do you accept?

Yeah, I’ll accept the call.

[dramatic music]

[chuckles] Okay, what makes you think that Holly has a crush on me?

Well, when I walked in, she was hovering off the ground, staring into your eyes.

[chuckles] Okay, come on.

No, trust me. I know that look. I used to give the same look to Zac Efron every night before bed. I had a poster of him in my room.

Okay.

Mm-hmm.

All right. Look, I know that you know and I know…

Mm-hmm.

That I’m irresistible.

[laughs]

Okay. But I promise you, Holly does not have Efron eyes for me, okay? She’s like my little sister. In fact, she is my little sister now that our parents are married.

Mm-hmm, but are you sure she sees you that same way, as just her older stepbrother?

Yes. I’m positive, and do you want to know why? Because she was very recently crushing on somebody else.

Who?

Uh, my dad.

What?

[chuckles] I know. She–she admitted it right before the wedding. Um, so, yeah, it’s him. It’s not me.

Mm-hmm.

[inhales deeply]

Seriously. Look, just please don’t say anything, okay? She said she’s totally over it, and I’m sure she would be mortified that I told you.

Yeah, well, I’m not going to say anything. But are you sure that her crush was on your dad and not you?

Yes.

I mean, he– he is old enough to be her father.

I’m positive, okay? It is my dad. It’s not me.

[dramatic music]

[monitor beeping]

Um, Chad dropped by to offer his condolences. He only just found out about the baby today.

[somber music]

You didn’t tell him last night?

No. In fact, he asked why I never called. I just said we were busy, there was a lot going on… Which is the half-truth. Honestly, I didn’t call him because I didn’t want to be comforted. I feared that talking about it would… Make it real.

I know exactly what you mean. I thought…

[sobs]

Now that you’ve had your bottle, little munchkin, it’s time for Auntie Melinda to have hers.

[chuckles] Oh… I was so impressed with you today… the way you looked at your new mommy. You were so good with her. And she is so excited to bring you home so you can meet your daddy.

[scoffs] Oh, yes, little fella, you guys are going to make a beautiful family…

[dramatic music] As long as Mommy’s guilty conscience doesn’t torpedo the entire plan.

[sighs]

[door opens]

Hey.

Hey.

Did you start without me?

Oh, no. I’m just trying to mentally prepare myself for what’s ahead.

[scoffs] How’s Nicole?

Heartbroken, heartbroken, as I expected her to be.

Poor thing. I feel really bad for her.

Yeah, me too. You know, honestly, I– as strong as she is, I don’t know how she’s going to get through this one.

Eric… I went to see Melinda. And there’s something that you need to know.

Back to the Days Transcripts Page

Back to the Main Daytime Transcripts Page

<ins class="adsbygoogle"
     style="display:block"
     data-ad-client="ca-pub-1056557952271337"
     data-ad-slot="8801203268"
     data-ad-format="auto"
     data-full-width-responsive="true"></ins>

Days of Our Lives Transcript Transcript provided by Thane and Suzanne THIS STILL NEEDS SOME EDITING!
