Why are you working here when you could be working at the office?

Eric: Brooke, I’m determined to go through with my final collection and this is the way I wanna do it. No one’s gonna stop me. Not even Ridge.

Thomas: You know, I gotta say, your eye, the detail, it’s inspiring.

Ridge: Well, I learned from my dad. And now, you get to learn from me.

Carter: Thank you, Mr. Lombardi. Yes, sales got your pre-order for Ridge’s new couture collection. We appreciate it very much. Yes, I understand your desire for an exclusivity clause. Look, if you’re serious, I need you to increase the offer threefold before I bring it to my team.

[ Quietly ] Yes! That’s great. Yeah, we’ll be in touch. It’s always a pleasure. Ciao.

Katie: Ciao? Ciao? Oh, I love it when you talk business. It’s so sexy. Ridge’s latest collection. Have you seen any of the designs?

Carter: Got a peek at a few.

Katie: Ooh. So have I. I’m kinda blown away. I think this might be his finest collection yet.

Ridge: Well, that works great.

Petra: Sloan and I agree. This collection, you seem more inspired than ever. Could it be because you and Brooke have reunited?

Sloan: Is that your secret, Ridge?

Ridge: All right. Thank you for your work today, ladies.

Thomas: I gotta say, they’re right. You know, I haven’t seen you this motivated or inspired in a while.

Ridge: Well, Brooke has that effect on me.

Brooke: RJ, when your father finds out you’re designing, he’ll be beside himself. But Eric, I don’t understand any of this. What is all this talk about a big, solo collection and Ridge not stopping you?

Eric: I’m determined, Brooke. I’m gonna do this. I have one last collection in me and I’m gonna do it with my grandson. You know, I miss this. I miss… I miss all of this. You know, I need it. The times when I go into the office and I think people don’t see me at all. They don’t see me at all for who– for who I am. And I will not be shelved. Certainly not by my own son.

Katie: Well, I’m not surprised that Ridge is completely on point and it’s a good thing. Couture has always been the backbone of Forrester Creations.

Carter: Yeah. I mean, Hope For The Future, you know…

Katie: Yeah, but we can’t abandon what Forrester Creations has been built on and that’s couture.

Carter: Mm. And all because of Eric. I mean, couture is a reflection of his creativity, his design sensibilities. I can’t imagine this place without him.

Katie: Sure, yeah, I mean, I agree with that, but the passing of the baton has been going on for a while now. I was talking to Brooke and she seems to think that Ridge feels like Eric should take a step back. You know, enjoy his time with Donna.

Carter: Really?

Katie: Mm-hmm.

Carter: He didn’t– he didn’t say that to me. I can’t imagine Eric retiring anytime soon.

Thomas: Seems your muse is working. Petra and the models see it. We all do. And, uh, I gotta say, if what you’re saying is true, that it’s being back together with Brooke that’s creating all of this, well then, I’m all for it and it’s good to know that Forrester’s in great hands.

Ridge: Well, I’m not sure your grandfather agrees.

Thomas: Uh, why would he not?

Ridge: I know he’s proud of me and that means a lot.

Thomas: Well, I can relate to that.

Ridge: But things have been, um… a little complicated.

Thomas: Complicated how?

Ridge: Well, I think your grandfather thinks I wanna push him out of the company.

Eric: Now, Brooke, I thought that Ridge would have opened up to you about this. I mean, since you’re back together again.

Brooke: Opened up about what?

Eric: All of this. The way he’s been talking to me. How he feels about me these days. He’s been talking down to me, he’s been insulting me. Even arrogant. And he’s treating me like some dinosaur.

Brooke: No, Eric, that is not true. You know Ridge. He loves you. He looks up to you. He admires you. Yes, he does. He’s concerned about you. You’ve been working long and hard at this company for so many years. It’s time for you just to relax. Maybe you could just take some time off, take it easy, enjoy yourself, spend some time with Donna. Donna would like that, right, honey?

Donna: I… I want what Eric wants.

Brooke: Okay.

Donna: And right now, that is to create his final collection.

Brooke: Well, I don’t have a problem with that and I appreciate the fact that you brought RJ in on this and RJ, you are learning from the best. That’s for sure. And Eric, why the secrecy? Why? Why leave Ridge out of this? You two have worked together for so long.

Eric: I don’t want him to do it with me. I don’t want that. Now, I know there’s gonna come a time when it’s appropriate for me to… to stop and to give up the reins to somebody else, but not now. Not now. I have one good collection left in me and here it is and I’m gonna do it. It’s gonna be the best collection of my life. It’s mine, nobody else’s. It’s mine.

Carter: Eric’s still a vital, creative part of Forrester Creations.

Katie: Yeah, of course, but I don’t know, maybe Brooke is right. Eric should step away from all that responsibility and just enjoy himself.

Carter: That sounds like retirement to me and that’s the furthest thing from Eric’s mind. No, no, no. Plus, we still need him here.

Katie: Okay, you’re right, but playing devil’s advocate, Eric can’t go on designing forever and there’s a whole generation of Forresters waiting in the wings. You know, you’ve got Ridge, of course, and then Thomas, Steffy, Zende, maybe even RJ. I just– I hope they have a very comprehensive succession plan in place. I mean, not just for the sake of the company, but for Eric and Ridge’s relationship as father and son.

Thomas: No, Dad. I actually have a hard time thinking that Granddad would ever believe you’re trying to make him obsolete.

Ridge: I have a hard time with that too, son, but, um, we’ve just had some strange exchanges lately.

Thomas: Okay, like, creative differences? You didn’t start arguing?

Ridge: No. It’s not even that. It’s not even creative ’cause we don’t work together. It’s been years since we worked together. Maybe we should. Maybe that would help. I don’t know. It wasn’t about that. It was… we were just talking, you know, and I said maybe it’s time for you to step back from this great thing that you’ve built. He built this for all of us, right? It’s amazing and you’ve– you’ve put in so much work and it was hard and now, maybe it’s time for you to take a break. You know what I’m saying. I mean, look, you just said, I’m okay running this. My great son has said I’m okay doing this by myself.

Thomas: 100%. But, I mean, it’s not like I don’t understand a little bit of where Granddad is coming from ’cause, I mean, this is– this is his creation, right? Like, it feels like an extension of himself.

Ridge: Yeah.

Thomas: What?

Ridge: I don’t know. You think you know somebody. Hm. Some good times in here, huh? Being a kid climbing all over this thing.

Thomas: [ Chuckles ] Yeah.

Ridge: But I don’t– I don’t know if you remember, but Dad had a stapler on his desk. 20 years ago, at least.

Thomas: Okay.

Ridge: And somebody threw it out. I don’t know if it was me. I don’t know. I don’t remember. But apparently, it, uh, it meant a lot to him.

Thomas: Wow, I mean, that’s– that’s, uh, that’s too bad.

Ridge: Yeah. Yeah, what’s too bad is that he doesn’t think that I threw out his stapler because it was broken. He– he thinks it’s me telling him he shouldn’t be working anymore.

Thomas: Wow. I– I– I don’t know. I guess I have a hard time understanding that.

Ridge: Me too, but here we are. You know, all I want is for my father to– to enjoy these years, to be happy, to go do stuff and you know what? Truth be told, I’m running this place. I’m running it because he asked me to.

Brooke: I’m not really following this. You’re saying that you want this line to be entirely yours, but you’re having RJ work on it with you, so why not have Ridge’s help too?

Eric: I don’t want Ridge’s help. I don’t want him to do it with me. I don’t want Ridge to be with me and start shoving me aside.

Brooke: Oh, Eric. That’s not what he’s doing.

Eric: That is what he’s doing, Brooke! That is what he’s doing! Now, when I started this business, when I started Forrester Creations, every collection was me alone. My first one and collection after collection, me alone by myself and I’m gonna do it again. Ridge needs to be at the top of his game and you tell him that. You tell him that because I’m coming for him.

Thomas: [ Chuckles ] Remember those words, Dad, because one day, it’ll be time for you to step down.

Ridge: Hm. I know. It’s gonna be a tough day. It’s gonna be hard. I’m gonna be sad, but then I’m gonna see you standing there to takeover and it’s gonna make me happy.

Thomas: I don’t know. I mean, it– I think Steffy already beat me to that.

[ Thomas laughing ]

Ridge: That’s what she’s thinking. Hey. I’m proud of you kids. You worked hard, really hard. And so did your granddad. Look at what he did. Look what he built for us. We get to play and– and make things because of what he did for years and years. We got to drive nice cars, wear nice suits. And I wanna be respectful, I do, but right now, this is my vision. As long as I’m here, the future of this company is what I want.

Donna: I love how passionate you are about all of this and I’m behind you 100%, but getting all worked up like this is really not good for you.

Eric: Yeah.

Donna: All this tension with you and Ridge, and you. I– I don’t want to see you stuck in the middle like this.

Eric: Is that how you feel? RJ, you feel stuck in the middle? Do you believe in me and this collection that we’re collaborating on?

RJ: Granddad, of course I believe in you. You think I’d be here if I didn’t absolutely believe in you? I love working with you. I think your designs, they’re gonna blow my dad out of the water.

Eric: Our designs. Come here. Come here.

Ridge: Ha.

Brooke: Sorry for interrupting.

Ridge: You’re not interrupting. Not when you’re bringing all this into the office. Did you go over to Dad’s? Did you get to talk to Donna?

Brooke: Your father was there and our son was there.

Ridge: RJ was there. Okay.

Brooke: Mm-hmm. You know how we thought our son might be seeing a young lady because he was disappearing so much?

Ridge: Yeah, was she there? Is she nice?

Brooke: Well, no. It turns out it’s nothing like that.

Ridge: I’m lost. I don’t know what you’re talking about.

Brooke: Well, you’re actually gonna be really happy about this. RJ is designing.

Ridge: He’s designing?

Brooke: With your father.

Ridge: That is amazing! That’s all I ever wanted. I– I knew it was gonna happen eventually, I just didn’t– how am I just hearing about this now?

Brooke: Well, I– I just found out myself. I went over there and walked into the Forrester mansion and in the living room, it’s turned into a design studio and Eric was there and RJ and Donna and Eric’s working on his last collection. His grand finale and he seems really determined. He told me to tell you that you better step up your game. He’s coming after you.

Eric: We’re gonna show Ridge and the rest of the world that I’ve still got it. You know, RJ, when– when– when your grandmother, Stephanie, and I started this company, we wanted to create a fashion business that would be a legacy for our kids and our grandkids, and we did that. We did that and then, one day, I would step aside, but you know what? I’m not ready yet. It’s time for Ridge and everybody else to realize that Eric Forrester can’t be put out to pasture. He cannot be replaced. Not yet. The best is yet to come.

Back to the B&B Transcripts Page

Back to the Main Daytime Transcripts Page

<ins class="adsbygoogle"
     style="display:block"
     data-ad-client="ca-pub-1056557952271337"
     data-ad-slot="8801203268"
     data-ad-format="auto"
     data-full-width-responsive="true"></ins>

Bold & The Beautiful Transcript Transcript provided by and proofread by Suzanne [ Relaxing music ] Brooke: Eric, this is amazing that you two are working together and that you got my son interested in design, but I don’t understand the secrecy.
