I\u2019ll tell you, Christian is starting to ask me some pretty tough questions.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sally:<\/strong> Uh-oh. Like, \u201cwhat\u2019s in the eggnog?\u201d Or, \u201chow do you make those little popcorn strings for the tree?\u201d Actually, I want to know the answer to the eggnog question.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Nick:<\/strong> Egg yolk, milk, whipped cream, sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. And then throw in some alcohol if you want the big-boy version.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">*****************************************<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sally<\/strong>: You really are great at the whole dad thing. And your children obviously adore you.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Nick:<\/strong> Eh, it\u2019s not always easy, but my kids are absolutely everything to me.: It\u2019s Faith\u2019s first Christmas away from the nest, isn\u2019t it? How are you doing with that?<\/p>\n<p><strong>Nick:<\/strong> Miss her like crazy.<\/p>\n<p>[Chuckles] But that\u2019s the thing with parenting \u2014 you know, your job, if you do it well, is to send your kids out into the world, you know, help them be independent. And if they do that, success, sadly, is not having them around much.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sally:<\/strong> Yeah. Yeah, I could see how that could be hard.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Nick:<\/strong> Yeah. I\u2019m happy for Faith, you know? Getting to spend the holidays in the Swiss alps with her roommate is awesome for her. But it means I don\u2019t get to have her here with me, and I hate that.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sally:<\/strong> Yeah, it makes perfect sense.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Nick:<\/strong> You got to let them go, you know? And if you get lucky, they come back, you know, for a while. Noah\u2019s proof of that.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sally:<\/strong> Yeah. I mean, you have one son who runs his own nightclub and another one who keeps pressing you on the logistics of Santa\u2019s mission. It\u2019s a \u2014 it\u2019s a pretty big age range.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Nick<\/strong>: Yeah. You calling me out for that?<\/p>\n<p>[Both laugh]<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sally:<\/strong> No, no, not at all. I-I\u2019m calling you versatile. A man who can pal around with his adult kids, raise his young ones, and knows the recipe for eggnog? Geez, man. Sign me up.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Nick:<\/strong> That\u2019s a good save. I\u2019ll take it. Each of my kids is an incredible gift. You know, being a parent is the best thing I\u2019ll ever do.
