You sounded upset on your message.<\/p>\n<p>Shawn: Evan got the court order.<\/p>\n<p>Belle: For the paternity test?<\/p>\n<p>Shawn: Yeah, we did it earlier this morning at the hospital. And evan was telling the truth. Shawn christian is his son.<\/p>\n<p>Belle: Are you sure?<\/p>\n<p>Shawn: Yeah, I had my aunt kayla oversee the testing herself, and she ran it three times.<\/p>\n<p>Belle: Oh, my god. Shawn, I&#8217;m so sorry.<\/p>\n<p>Shawn: Now, evan&#8217;s gonna take him away.<\/p>\n<p>Evan: The results of the paternity test came back exactly as you said they would.<\/p>\n<p>Orpheus: Congratulations, son. And don&#8217;t worrY. I&#8217;m gonna get you all set up. Soon as we&#8217;re done here, we&#8217;re gonna get a crib and a stroller and anything else you need.<\/p>\n<p>Evan: Actually, dad, I don&#8217;t need any of that.<\/p>\n<p>Orpheus: What? What are you talking about?<\/p>\n<p>Evan: The reason I asked you here is to say goodbye.<\/p>\n<p>Gabi: Jake and ava&#8217;s marriage certificate hasn&#8217;t been filed yet? What? So cut the damn line! Brenda, listen, you cannot follow the rules when you are committing a felony. Submitting phony paperwork is a misdemeanor? That&#8217;s a fun fact! Here&#8217;s another one. If ej finds out there is no certificate filed, he&#8217;s gonna know that jake and ava were never married, and I&#8217;m gonna be out of a job, and so are you.<\/p>\n<p>Ej: I&#8217;m calling your bluff, avA. Getting city hall on the line right now.<\/p>\n<p>Ava: What for? You just checked with them, and they told you that the paperwork for my marriage license hadn&#8217;t been filed yet, which makes sense. Between the backlog and the bureaucracy, things over there take forever, and jake and i were just married yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>Ej: At the courthouse? That&#8217;s where you claimed to have wed my brother prior to his demise?<\/p>\n<p>Ava: Yeah. That&#8217;s what I told you.<\/p>\n<p>Ej: Then I&#8217;ll speak directly to the county clerk. He&#8217;ll be able to track down the paperwork&#8230;If it exists.<\/p>\n<p>[Keypad clicks]<\/p>\n<p>[Line trilling] Yes, hello. I would like you to track down a marriage certificate for me, please. Thank yoU. The names are jake dimera and ava vitali.<\/p>\n<p>Kristen: Rolf, don&#8217;t you play with me. What are you talking about? You just said that you couldn&#8217;t bring jake back.<\/p>\n<p>Rolf: That is correct. This young man&#8217;s life has been tragically cut short. He won&#8217;t be rising from the ashes today or any other day. His twin brother, stefan, however, is an entirely different story.<\/p>\n<p>Kristen: Oh. Oh, my god.<\/p>\n<p>Rolf: Not god. It was all me. How fortunate we are to have an heir and a spare. Behold, stefan O. Dimera.<\/p>\n<p>[Monitor beeping]<\/p>\n<p>Male announcer: Like sands through the hourglass, so are the &#8220;days of our liveS.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>[Soft orchestration]<\/p>\n<p>.<\/p>\n<p>Gabi: Brenda. Brenda, no, no, no, no, no. I pay you generously to perform tasks that my nine-year-old could do asleeP. How long does it take to file a damn piece of paper? I want it done yesterday!<\/p>\n<p>[Sighs] Li.<\/p>\n<p>Shin: Did your assistant mess up your coffee order again?<\/p>\n<p>GabI: Oh no. There was just a little problem with the goldenberg contract. Some paperwork was filed incorrectly, so it&#8217;s holding up the signing, but it&#8217;s gonna get donE.<\/p>\n<p>Shin: I signed that contract when it was executed last week.<\/p>\n<p>Gabi: I&#8211;thank you. I didn&#8217;t know that. Thank you for telling me that.<\/p>\n<p>Shin: No problem. Now, why don&#8217;t you tell me why you&#8217;re lying?<\/p>\n<p>Ava: You&#8217;re wasting your time.<\/p>\n<p>Ej: And your time is running out. Now&#8217;s your chance to admit what you&#8217;ve done. If you confess, I&#8217;ll be less inclined to include the authorities.<\/p>\n<p>Ava: My husband&#8217;s body isn&#8217;t even cold yet, and here you are calling me a liar? Making threats? Begrudging me any small bequest?<\/p>\n<p>Ej: My brother&#8217;s shares are no small bequest. As you&#8217;ll recall, when he was shot, gabi begged me to revive him. However, after my evaluation, I concluded there was nothing that could be done.<\/p>\n<p>Kristen: Not even your magic serum could bring him back?<\/p>\n<p>Rolf: Sadly, stefan had lost the spark of life.<\/p>\n<p>Kristen: So obviously it was too late.<\/p>\n<p>Rolf: So it seemed. But then i told myself, nothing&#8217;s impossible, and it wasn&#8217;t!<\/p>\n<p>Kristen: It wasn&#8217;t?<\/p>\n<p>Rolf: Well, not exactly.<\/p>\n<p>[Monitor beeping]<\/p>\n<p>Belle: I don&#8217;t understand how evan could have gotten a court order this fast.<\/p>\n<p>Shawn: I don&#8217;t know. I&#8217;m thinking it&#8217;s whoever strongarmed the governor into pardoning him made it happen.<\/p>\n<p>Belle: I had every intention of trying to fight this.<\/p>\n<p>Shawn: But, I mean, can&#8217;t you still? Belle, that&#8217;s the reason why I called you. I need you to stop this. We cannot let evan take my son.<\/p>\n<p>Orpheus: What do you mean goodbye?<\/p>\n<p>Evan: I can&#8217;t stay in salem. Everyone here thinks I&#8217;m a psycho.<\/p>\n<p>Orpheus: Who cares?<\/p>\n<p>Evan: I do, so I need to start fresh as far away from here as possible. I&#8217;m going to new zealand, and I&#8217;m gonna be with zoe and david.<\/p>\n<p>Orpheus: What?<\/p>\n<p>Evan: I talked to zoe about it. I told her that I understand she has full custody of david, and I won&#8217;t fight her on thaT. I want to get to know him. I want my kids to get to know each other, and I want to be there for theM.<\/p>\n<p>Orpheus: Well, how are you gonna get to new zealand? You&#8217;re broke.<\/p>\n<p>Evan: I got myself hired on a houseboat. Just to chicago. I&#8217;ll earn some cash and go the rest of the way when I&#8217;m ready. I&#8217;m in no rush. I just want to spend some time alone with my little guy and, you know, not be hunted down by shawn brady or jan spears.<\/p>\n<p>Orpheus: Jan&#8217;s dead.<\/p>\n<p>Evan: With her, you never know.<\/p>\n<p>Orpheus: [Sighs] I finally get out of prison, and my whole family&#8217;s on the other side of the world.<\/p>\n<p>Evan: You&#8217;re welcome to join us.<\/p>\n<p>Orpheus: Yeah, maybe somedaY. I still have unfinished business in salem. No, I just made the mistake of asking brenda for that contract. Obviously, she had it all wrong. Forgive me. I&#8217;ve been off my game. It&#8217;s been 24 hours.<\/p>\n<p>Shin: I&#8217;ll say. Ava vitali coincidentally married jake on the day he died. And suddenly, she has a legal claim to his dimera shares, which certainly benefits you.<\/p>\n<p>Gabi: I&#8217;m sorry?<\/p>\n<p>Shin: Ej&#8217;s trying to consolidate enough power to oust you as ceo. If he were to get his hands on jake&#8217;s shares, he&#8217;d be sitting in your chair in no time.<\/p>\n<p>Gabi: Yeah, but that&#8217;s not gonna happen.<\/p>\n<p>Shin: Provided you keep jake&#8217;s widow on your side since she&#8217;s now the beneficiary of those shares. I assume that&#8217;s why you left me a message, asking if I&#8217;d approve a position here for ava with a six-figure salary and a seat on the board. What are her qualifications again? Mob boss? Makes a mean baked ziti?<\/p>\n<p>GabI: You want ej running this company?<\/p>\n<p>Shin: NO.<\/p>\n<p>Gabi: Well, that makes two of us, so it&#8217;s in both our interests to keep ava happy.<\/p>\n<p>Shin: I&#8217;m still wondering about the paperwork you wanted filed. Heard you tell brenda you wanted it done yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>GabI: Figure of speech.<\/p>\n<p>Shin: Was it?<\/p>\n<p>Gabi: Mm-hmm.<\/p>\n<p>Shin: Or did it have something to do with making jake and ava&#8217;s sudden marriage seem real?<\/p>\n<p>Ava: Your brother is dead, and all you can think about is your stupid company.<\/p>\n<p>Ej: Yes, I&#8217;m still here. Take your accusations and get the hell out.<\/p>\n<p>Evan: What kind of unfinished business are you talking about?<\/p>\n<p>Orpheus: Nothing you need to worry about, but as soon as it&#8217;s done, I&#8217;ll be visiting you and little shawn christian.<\/p>\n<p>Evan: That&#8217;s not his name.<\/p>\n<p>Orpheus: What?<\/p>\n<p>Evan: I thought I&#8217;d keep christian, since it&#8217;s my real name, but I want him to be his own person, separate from me and all my mistakes.<\/p>\n<p>Orpheus: Okay, well, what do I call my grandson?<\/p>\n<p>Evan: Maddox frears.<\/p>\n<p>Orpheus: Mm.<\/p>\n<p>Evan: It&#8217;s got a nice ring, don&#8217;t you think?<\/p>\n<p>Orpheus: Who&#8217;s that?<\/p>\n<p>Evan: My lawyer. You can finish thiS. I&#8217;m going to claim my kid.<\/p>\n<p>Shawn: Belle, you know this whole thing is shady as hell.<\/p>\n<p>Belle: Shawn&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>Shawn: No, we&#8217;ve got to fight. We&#8217;ve got to fight! I mean, clearly there&#8217;s something fishy with this court ordeR. Why don&#8217;t we start there? We could try to prove that it was illegally obtained.<\/p>\n<p>Belle: Because even if we could, the paternity results would be the same. The fact is&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>Shawn: I know I&#8217;m not the biological father. I know that, but, belle, I&#8217;ve been there since the day that he was born. I sat there in the nicu. I was praying that he would survive. I have been feeding him. I&#8217;ve been changing him. Look, I&#8217;ve been singing him to sleep every single nighT. I love the little guy. I love him with all my heart.<\/p>\n<p>Belle: I know you do.<\/p>\n<p>Shawn: So how am I supposed to just hand him over to evan frears, all right? The guy who killed his other son&#8217;s mother? I mean, he was planning to kill ciara. He held our daughter hostage at gunpoint. Why would a judge give a baby over to some psychopath?<\/p>\n<p>Belle: Because unfortunately&#8211;outrageously&#8211; he&#8217;s been given a full pardoN. That means criminal record&#8217;s been wiped clean.<\/p>\n<p>Shawn: Yeah, but we know that he is dangerous. He is clearly an unfit parent.<\/p>\n<p>Belle: I know this, but there&#8217;s nothing that I can point to in a court of law that proves that. And he&#8217;s got those test results. You know how biology plays in a custody hearing. Shawn, I know how much you love this baby, but the bottom line is you&#8211; you don&#8217;t have a legal claim to him.<\/p>\n<p>Shawn: He deserves so much better.<\/p>\n<p>Belle: I know, and he was so lucky to have you. I wish I could help you hang on to him, shawn, but really, there&#8217;s just nothing I can dO.<\/p>\n<p>Shawn: [Sighs]<\/p>\n<p>Shawn: I know it was a lot to ask.<\/p>\n<p>Belle: No, it&#8217;s not. I mean, you just want what&#8217;s best for this baby&#8217;s future, and I respect and admire thaT.<\/p>\n<p>Shawn: So what am I supposed to do now? I just give up?<\/p>\n<p>[Doorbell rings]<\/p>\n<p>Belle: I&#8217;ll get it.<\/p>\n<p>[Baby babbling]<\/p>\n<p>Shawn: My sweet, little guy. I&#8217;ve loved you since the moment I saw you. I&#8217;m always gonna love you.<\/p>\n<p>[Footsteps approaching]<\/p>\n<p>Evan: I&#8217;m here for maddox.<\/p>\n<p>Shawn: Who?<\/p>\n<p>Evan: My son.<\/p>\n<p>Rolf: I knew stefano would have wanted me to do everything possible to save his namesakE.<\/p>\n<p>Kristen: You&#8217;re right about that.<\/p>\n<p>Rolf: So I accepted the challenge and began to toil away in my laboratory, modifying my serum with the hope that it would be powerful enough to revive young stefan.<\/p>\n<p>Kristen: And?<\/p>\n<p>Rolf: Unfortunately, by the time I was ready, gabi had already donated his heart to julie williams, which made things a bit more difficult.<\/p>\n<p>Kristen: Yeah, you don&#8217;t say.<\/p>\n<p>Rolf: I was able to resurrect the rest of him, but your poor brother is heartless in the most literal sense of the word.<\/p>\n<p>[Monitor beeping]<\/p>\n<p>GabI: If you&#8217;re implying that ava faked her wedding to jake, that&#8217;s news to me.<\/p>\n<p>Shin: Think about it, gabi. Jake was mortally wounded right in front of her&#8211; she almost died too&#8211; and still had the presence of mind to hatch a plan to grab jake&#8217;s shares? Even for ava, that&#8217;s&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>Gabi: No, no, no, no, no. She&#8217;s as cold-blooded as they come. She tried to frame my brother as a dirty cop.<\/p>\n<p>Shin: But she didn&#8217;t do it alone, right?<\/p>\n<p>GabI: No, she used some of her slimebag friends from her past to help her out.<\/p>\n<p>Shin: Accomplices, like she&#8217;d need to pull this off. While she played the grieving widow, she&#8217;d need to get someone to doctor the paperwork, someone to make sure it was filed yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>Gabi: Are you implying that I helped her?<\/p>\n<p>Shin: You were at the hospital last night when you called to tell me about jake&#8217;s death and the alleged marriage.<\/p>\n<p>Gabi: Li, I went to pay my respects.<\/p>\n<p>Shin: And while you were there, did ava ask you to help her make it look like she and jake got married yesterday?<\/p>\n<p>Gabi: Ava and i hate each other. Why would you think I would help her?<\/p>\n<p>Shin: That&#8217;s not an answer, gabi. Did ava vitali rope you into some crazy scheme to fake a wedding so she could help herself to jake&#8217;s shares.<\/p>\n<p>GabI: First of all, it was not crazy, and second of all, it was all my idea.<\/p>\n<p>Shin: Hmm.<\/p>\n<p>Ava: You need to leavE.<\/p>\n<p>Ej: Not until I&#8217;ve apologized to you. It was terribly insensitive of me to come to you while you&#8217;re in mourning and accuse you of using jake&#8217;s death to line your own pockets.<\/p>\n<p>Ava: Yeah, it was.<\/p>\n<p>Ej: What I should have done was offer you my condolences and welcome you to the family. I am truly sorry, and welcome to the familY.<\/p>\n<p>Ava: Thanks, I guess.<\/p>\n<p>Ej: My father would have been terribly disappointed in how I&#8217;ve conducted myself. He taught me a lot better than this. Family and respect were everything to him.<\/p>\n<p>Ava: Yeah? Even when he was trying to put a bullet in your head? I&#8217;m just joking. My father was the same way.<\/p>\n<p>Ej: Well, being the child of a powerful man, it&#8217;s complicated.<\/p>\n<p>Ava: [Snorts] Yeah, that&#8217;s one word for it.<\/p>\n<p>Ej: Well, if there&#8217;s anything I can do to make this time easy for you, just ask.<\/p>\n<p>Ava: Oh, okay. That&#8217;s so nice. You know what? Now that you&#8217;re mentioned it, maybe you could speed up the transfer of those shares into my name so I could pay the rent here this month.<\/p>\n<p>Ej: I have a better idea. There&#8217;s plenty of room at my housE. Why don&#8217;t you move in with me?<\/p>\n<p>Shin: It was your idea to fake jake and ava&#8217;s marriage?<\/p>\n<p>Gabi: Genius, right?<\/p>\n<p>Shin: How did you&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>GabI: Kate was here yesterday. She came to give me a heads-up that she and chad were just giving up their shares to ej.<\/p>\n<p>Shin: So he&#8217;d have more ammo to come after you with.<\/p>\n<p>GabI: And i told her I wasn&#8217;t scared of ej. And as I was walking her to the door, my brother called me, and that&#8217;s when he told me that jake was dead. And of course, we were in shock. We were sad. I know you were too.<\/p>\n<p>Shin: I was very fond of him.<\/p>\n<p>GabI: Then I realized I couldn&#8217;t sit around crying because ej sure wasn&#8217;t. He was going after jake&#8217;s shares, and then after my job.<\/p>\n<p>Shin: How did you get from there to a phony wedding?<\/p>\n<p>Gabi: Well, after that, I went to the hospital, and ava told me that jake was killed defending her from a thug that was trying to steal her engagement ring.<\/p>\n<p>Shin: So they were actually engaged.<\/p>\n<p>Gabi: Yeah, and she had a big, honking ring on her finger, and that&#8217;s when the lightbulb went off. If jake had a widow, she&#8211;not ej&#8211; would be his next of kin.<\/p>\n<p>Shin: And inherit his shares.<\/p>\n<p>Gabi: Mm-hmm. If ava and I worked together, she&#8217;d be set for life, and I would still be running the company. We&#8217;d both win.<\/p>\n<p>Shin: But, as you said, you and ava despise each other. What makes you think you can trust her?<\/p>\n<p>Gabi: Oh, I can&#8217;t trust her, but she&#8217;s not gonna double-cross me.<\/p>\n<p>Shin: Because you know the marriage is a sham, and if you expose her, she&#8217;d be left with nothing.<\/p>\n<p>Gabi: That&#8217;s right. Without those shares, she&#8217;s got no money, no job, no home. Feels wrong considering you never wanted jake under your roof.<\/p>\n<p>Ej: [Sighs] I regret that my brother and i weren&#8217;t on better terms before he died, and I&#8217;d appreciate it if you gave me the opportunity to make amends by treating you the way he deserved to be treated. So, sis, would you like to move in?<\/p>\n<p>Kristen: So you&#8217;re telling me that stefan has been alive without a heart for four years?<\/p>\n<p>Rolf: That depends on how you define &#8220;alive.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Kristen: I don&#8217;t believe this. That means my best friend, lanI, didn&#8217;t kill him after all. I mean, she&#8217;s gonna be so relieved to hear that, not to mention that my brother here is the frickin&#8217; tin man.<\/p>\n<p>Rolf: I beg your pardon?<\/p>\n<p>Kristen: Okay, just hold on. Let&#8217;s just go back. So stefan&#8217;s heart went to julie? And then?<\/p>\n<p>Rolf: I appropriated his body. Meanwhile, gabi believed her husband had been cremated and his remains interred in the dimera crypT.<\/p>\n<p>Kristen: Which obviously wasn&#8217;t truE. And then what happened?<\/p>\n<p>Rolf: With stefan&#8217;s blood pumping through artificial means, I began the process of acquiring a new heart for him.<\/p>\n<p>Kristen: What, like ordering one online? Shipping takes four to six weeks.<\/p>\n<p>Rolf: It&#8217;s much more complex than that, I assure yoU. But my plans to make him whole again were rudely interrupted when I was sent to prisoN.<\/p>\n<p>Kristen: Which begs the question&#8211;how did you keep him alive when you were gone?<\/p>\n<p>Evan: You didn&#8217;t think I&#8217;d keep calling my son &#8220;shawn,&#8221; did you?<\/p>\n<p>Shawn: That&#8217;s his namE.<\/p>\n<p>Evan: That&#8217;s your name. And you&#8217;re nothing to him, so we&#8217;ll be going noW.<\/p>\n<p>Belle: I&#8217;ll need to see a court order that gives you permission to take custody.<\/p>\n<p>Evan: Read it and weep.<\/p>\n<p>Shawn: Who&#8217;d your daddy threaten to make this happen, huh?<\/p>\n<p>Evan: Back off, man.<\/p>\n<p>Shawn: You should be in a cage.<\/p>\n<p>Evan: Not according to the governor of this great state. Now, step asidE.<\/p>\n<p>Shawn: This is nuts. I haven&#8217;t even had a chance to get his things together.<\/p>\n<p>Evan: We don&#8217;t need much. We&#8217;ll be in a boat, traveling lighT.<\/p>\n<p>Shawn: Boat?<\/p>\n<p>Evan: Maddox and i are leaving. We&#8217;re starting over.<\/p>\n<p>Shawn: To where?<\/p>\n<p>Evan: New zealand, with my sister and his brother. I want him to grow up around family.
