Are you having second thoughts?<\/p>\n<p>Jack: I have been thinking&#8230; and I&#8217;ve decided that our baby will be in good hands with our other baby.<\/p>\n<p>Jennifer: I agree. I agree, jack.<\/p>\n<p>Abigail: Psst. Happy new year, aunt maggie.<\/p>\n<p>Maggie: Oh, it is so good to see you. Happy new year to you too, my darling.<\/p>\n<p>Abigail: I hope it&#8217;s okay I came over here this early on a holiday.<\/p>\n<p>Maggie: Oh, you know you&#8217;re always welcome here, but I did wonder you wanted to talk to me. You sounded pretty urgent on the phone.<\/p>\n<p>Abigail: Yeah, I just wanted to tell you about a story we&#8217;re working on that&#8217;s a little sensitive.<\/p>\n<p>Maggie: Oh, okay.<\/p>\n<p>Abigail: It&#8217;s about philip&#8217;s disappearance. The paper decided they wanted to focus on that, and I just wanted to give you and victor a heads-up.<\/p>\n<p>Maggie: I see. I see. Well, I&#8217;m glad you told me that.<\/p>\n<p>Abigail: And I want to let you to know that if we do find out anything, anything that could upset victor, that I will let you know. That way he doesn&#8217;t have to read about it in the paper.<\/p>\n<p>Maggie: That&#8217;s very thoughtful of you. Let me ask you something, okay? While you&#8217;re out trying to find out what happened to philip, would you help me find sarah?<\/p>\n<p>Gwen: Bloody&#8230;what?<\/p>\n<p>Xander: I know.<\/p>\n<p>Gwen: Know what?<\/p>\n<p>Xander: That you played dumb. It&#8217;s over. I know where sarah is. How you kept your mouth shut while the woman I love, the woman you know that I love is out there somewhere being terrorized by a sociopath?<\/p>\n<p>Gwen: Xander, no, wait&#8230;no.<\/p>\n<p>Xander: And you also knew that sarah never betrayed me with rex. No, that was that lunatic kristen who orchestrated that, and she told you all about it. Didn&#8217;t she? Didn&#8217;t she?<\/p>\n<p>Gwen: Yes.<\/p>\n<p>Xander: You decided i didn&#8217;t need to know about that. It didn&#8217;t fit in with your plans for me to know about that, did it?<\/p>\n<p>Gwen: Please, please, you have to hear my side of things. Kristen threatened me, and I&#8211; I just loved you. I loved you so much, and i thought that you loved me too.<\/p>\n<p>Xander: That was before I knew who you were, what you were, I mean. My god, no wonder your own father doesn&#8217;t want anything to do with you. I thought I was a bad person. I want you out of this room today.<\/p>\n<p>Gwen: Where are you going?<\/p>\n<p>Xander: Where the hell do you think I&#8217;m going? To find sarah.<\/p>\n<p>Gwen: No, no, xander, please don&#8217;t leave me! Don&#8217;t leave me! Don&#8217;t leave me. Don&#8217;t leave me.<\/p>\n<p>Xander: Gwen, wake up. We&#8217;re out of espresso, I had to settle for a regular.<\/p>\n<p>Rae: I can go to the store and get more.<\/p>\n<p>Ava: It&#8217;s a holiday.<\/p>\n<p>Rafe: Right. It&#8217;s just that the look on your face seemed more intense than, &#8220;I don&#8217;t like this coffee,&#8221; so you sure there&#8217;s not something else?<\/p>\n<p>Ava: Don&#8217;t you know by now I overreact to most things? So what are we gonna do today? Should we do something with gabi and jake?<\/p>\n<p>Rafe: You&#8217;re voluntarily offering to spend time with my sister?<\/p>\n<p>Ava: It&#8217;s the holidays; we are supposed to spend time with family. Okay, we can invite over tripp and allie and henry, maybe nicole and holly.<\/p>\n<p>Rafe: Do you know what? Actually, I was hoping that you and i could just spend time together alone for once, you know, watch the parades, maybe you can condescend to me while I watch football.<\/p>\n<p>Ava: [Chuckles] Sounds wonderful.<\/p>\n<p>Rafe: Okay.<\/p>\n<p>[Phone rings]<\/p>\n<p>Ava: It&#8217;s nicole.<\/p>\n<p>Rafe: Yeah. I&#8217;ll call her back later.<\/p>\n<p>Ava: No, you should get it. It&#8217;s a holiday. She wouldn&#8217;t call you if it wasn&#8217;t important.<\/p>\n<p>Rafe: Okay. Nicole, what&#8217;s up?<\/p>\n<p>Nicole: Oh, rafe, I need you to come over to basic black. It&#8217;s an emergency.<\/p>\n<p>Rafe: Uh&#8230;all right. Well, I&#8217;ll be right there. Yeah. She says it&#8217;s an emergency.<\/p>\n<p>Ava: Oh. Well, then you better go.<\/p>\n<p>Rafe: You sure?<\/p>\n<p>Ava: Yeah, of course. Go. Go, go. We can&#8211;we can catch up later.<\/p>\n<p>Rafe: Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay.<\/p>\n<p>Ava: Okay.<\/p>\n<p>Rafe: All right.<\/p>\n<p>Ava: Happy new year.<\/p>\n<p>Rafe: Happy new year. Ahh!<\/p>\n<p>Abigail: So xander told you that rex and sarah left salem but not together. And they&#8217;ve not been together since they left?<\/p>\n<p>Maggie: Right. And now her phone is out of service.<\/p>\n<p>Abigail: Okay. Well, have you gone to the police with any of this?<\/p>\n<p>Maggie: Yeah, I called shawn.<\/p>\n<p>Abigail: And?<\/p>\n<p>Maggie: Well, he said that since sarah left town on her own free will and that since she has contacted me that it would be really hard to classify her as a missing person.<\/p>\n<p>Abigail: Right. Okay. And I imagine everything that&#8217;s going on with marlena and brady and philip that the salem pd is probably pretty swamped.<\/p>\n<p>Maggie: Yeah, that&#8217;s exactly what he said. So that&#8217;s why I&#8217;m turning to you. Abigail, I&#8217;m worried. I&#8217;m really&#8211;I&#8217;m beyond worried. I&#8217;m just&#8211; I&#8217;m very frustrated that there is something very wrong. So if you and your paper could help me try to find sarah&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Abigail: Of course I can. I will do everything that I possibly can.<\/p>\n<p>Maggie: Oh, well, that&#8217;s a relief. Bless you, sweetheart. And if there&#8217;s anything I can do, any questions that I can answer, I mean, if I can help you in any way in your search&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Abigail: Right. I think&#8211;I think right now the first thing I need to know is just when was the last time that you actually did hear from sarah?<\/p>\n<p>Maggie: [Sighs]<\/p>\n<p>Gwen: No. Sometimes I dream that I&#8217;m a little girl again. It&#8217;s not surprising I had that dream last night. Life wasn&#8217;t always great for me, but holidays were really awful.<\/p>\n<p>Xander: I&#8217;m so sorry.<\/p>\n<p>Abigail: No, don&#8217;t be. All I have to do is just wake up next to you, and I know that that&#8217;s all in the past and that I won&#8217;t be alone again.<\/p>\n<p>Xander: Well, at least not for more than a couple of hours.<\/p>\n<p>Gwen: Well, where are you going? We have all morning.<\/p>\n<p>Xander: I&#8217;m sorry, but I have to go and see your uncle steve.<\/p>\n<p>Gwen: On new year&#8217;s morning? Why?<\/p>\n<p>Xander: I&#8217;m gonna hire him to find sarah.<\/p>\n<p>Kayla: Oh, you have everything you need?<\/p>\n<p>Steve: Yeah. I think so. I&#8217;m sorry, baby. This isn&#8217;t the way I wanted to start the new year.<\/p>\n<p>Kayla: You can&#8217;t put it off even a couple days?<\/p>\n<p>Steve: No, I&#8217;m afraid kristen might have too much of a head start already.<\/p>\n<p>Kayla: You know, it&#8217;s been hammered home again and again that there&#8217;s nothing that kristen wouldn&#8217;t stoop to.<\/p>\n<p>Steve: Yeah?<\/p>\n<p>Kayla: But I think in her sick, weird way she really loves brady. And he is rachel&#8217;s father. I just have a hard time thinking that she would frame him for philip&#8217;s murder.<\/p>\n<p>Steve: Well, maybe she has some twisted reason we are not aware of.<\/p>\n<p>Kayla: And what reason would that be?<\/p>\n<p>Steve: [Sighs] You know how stefano was always banging on about chess? &#8220;The move behind the move behind the move.&#8221; Maybe kristen&#8217;s making some kind of chess move.<\/p>\n<p>[Doorbell rings] Hey.<\/p>\n<p>Jennifer: Hi.<\/p>\n<p>Jack: Hey.<\/p>\n<p>Jennifer: Hi. Hi. Hi. Hi.<\/p>\n<p>Steve: Hello. Hello.<\/p>\n<p>Jennifer: Happy new year.<\/p>\n<p>Kayla: So good to see you.<\/p>\n<p>Jennifer: Oh, my goodness. How are you guys? Oh, wait, I hope we&#8217;re not too early.<\/p>\n<p>Steve: No, no, actually, you&#8217;re just in time, because I&#8217;m on my way out of town on a work trip.<\/p>\n<p>Jack: Well, that&#8217;s a coincidence, because we&#8217;re leaving salem too. This is the sound of nature breathing.<\/p>\n<p>Rafe: Damn it, nicole. This better be good. What happened?<\/p>\n<p>Nicole: That happened.<\/p>\n<p>Ava: Happy new year, nicole. Oh, what a surprise. &#8220;Oh, my little bear has a boo-boo. I need you, rafe.&#8221; Yeah, didn&#8217;t see that one coming. Oh, and in other news, rafe goes flying to her side. Wonder if he&#8217;ll be able to find a way to comfort her. Bet they&#8217;re on that conference table as we speak.<\/p>\n<p>[Knock at door] Just a minute.<\/p>\n<p>Gwen: Thank god you&#8217;re here. Who were you talking to?<\/p>\n<p>Ava: The gods of vengeance. What are you doing here? We can&#8217;t be seen together.<\/p>\n<p>Gwen: I know; I had to come. You&#8217;re the only one who can help me.<\/p>\n<p>Abigail: And so there&#8217;s nothing after this last text?<\/p>\n<p>Maggie: No. I&#8217;ve left messages but nothing.<\/p>\n<p>Abigail: Hmm. Could you forward these texts to me?<\/p>\n<p>Maggie: Yes. Of course. See, what I&#8211; what I don&#8217;t understand is, if sarah didn&#8217;t leave town with rex, why didn&#8217;t she tell me that? It doesn&#8217;t make any sense. Sarah&#8217;s always told me everything. Well, almost; we&#8217;re very close.<\/p>\n<p>Abigail: I know that. So I think I&#8217;m gonna try to get sarah&#8217;s phone records so I can find out who else she has been in contact with.<\/p>\n<p>Maggie: But you&#8217;re still gonna keep looking for philip, because I&#8217;m also terribly worried about victor.<\/p>\n<p>Abigail: That&#8217;s so you. Here you&#8217;re going through the same thing he is, and you&#8217;re worried about him.<\/p>\n<p>Maggie: Well, for all of his blustery, he&#8217;s just not as strong as I am.<\/p>\n<p>Abigail: I don&#8217;t think many people are.<\/p>\n<p>Maggie: Oh. Thank you.<\/p>\n<p>Abigail: Although I do hope&#8211; I hope I&#8217;ve got just a little bit of your strength, I think I&#8217;m gonna need it.<\/p>\n<p>Maggie: Really?<\/p>\n<p>Abigail: Oh, yeah, I&#8217;m running the whole paper now.<\/p>\n<p>Maggie: Well, that&#8217;s wonderful. You&#8217;re gonna do a great job. But what about your dad?<\/p>\n<p>Abigail: Well, actually, he and my mom have other plans.<\/p>\n<p>Kayla: So tell us more about this boston newspaper?<\/p>\n<p>Jennifer: Well, I started reading it while I was there with mike settling my mom&#8217;s estate, and I mean, it&#8217;s just a small, you know, local, old-fashioned newspaper just dedicated to local news. But apparently, it is going to go under if we don&#8217;t take it over.<\/p>\n<p>Kayla: So there&#8217;s an urgency to this? You need to save the paper.<\/p>\n<p>Jennifer: Yeah, definitely. And I mean the owners are relieved, not that we&#8217;re just taking it over, but that we&#8217;re going to keep it exactly the same. We&#8217;re not gonna slash the staff, we&#8217;re just gonna&#8211; just kind of beef up their tech and social media. I mean, it&#8217;s gonna be complicated for sure, but&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Jack: Yeah, I mean, small newspapers are challenged all over the country. So we just figured let abigail take care of the &#8220;spectator,&#8221; and we&#8217;ll have a new mission.<\/p>\n<p>Kayla: So you&#8217;re moving.<\/p>\n<p>Jennifer: Well, no, no, no, not permanently.<\/p>\n<p>Jack: No.<\/p>\n<p>Jennifer: We&#8217;re gonna come right back as soon as we have it going on its feet.<\/p>\n<p>Jack: Right.<\/p>\n<p>Steve: Good.<\/p>\n<p>Kayla: Because we&#8217;ll all miss you so much. But I&#8217;m impressed. I&#8217;m so impressed as always with what you&#8217;re doing.<\/p>\n<p>[Knock at door]<\/p>\n<p>Jack: Oh. Hey, let me get that. Oh, xander. How did you know I was here?<\/p>\n<p>Xander: I wasn&#8217;t looking for you, jack. I need to talk to steve.<\/p>\n<p>Only daisy cottage cheese will do<\/p>\n<p>Maggie: Well, I am gonna miss your folks, but the paper&#8217;s in good hands. Listen, if you don&#8217;t have time to look for sarah.<\/p>\n<p>Abigail: I will make time, okay? And I&#8217;m gonna talk to xander. I understand he wasn&#8217;t real happy with her when she left.<\/p>\n<p>Maggie: Well, honestly, xander&#8217;s the one who came to me. He&#8217;s very worried about sarah. But he&#8217;s moved on with someone else.<\/p>\n<p>Abigail: Yeah, gwen. I know. You know, any port in a storm.<\/p>\n<p>Maggie: Yeah, well, I think it&#8217;s more than that. He seems pretty serious about her.<\/p>\n<p>Abigail: Well, if that&#8217;s true, god help him.<\/p>\n<p>Xander: I&#8217;m sorry to interrupt, steve, but can I talk to you alone for a minute?<\/p>\n<p>Jennifer: You know, actually, we&#8217;re heading out. We&#8217;re gonna meet abigail at the house before we go to the airport.<\/p>\n<p>Jack: Yeah.<\/p>\n<p>Xander: You&#8217;re going on a trip?<\/p>\n<p>Jack: Oh, well, we bought a newspaper in boston, and we&#8217;ll be there for a while.<\/p>\n<p>Xander: Leaving town? It&#8217;s vindictive and vicious, and we both know how she likes breaking and entering, and it&#8217;s totally childish. She checks all the boxes.<\/p>\n<p>Rafe: I don&#8217;t know.<\/p>\n<p>Nicole: Yeah, well, I do. She&#8217;s just paying me back for breaking up her marriage to ej.<\/p>\n<p>Rafe: She should be on her knees grateful for what you did.<\/p>\n<p>Nicole: Oh, grateful? I&#8217;m sure she breathes fire at the mere mention of my name. Let&#8217;s face it, it&#8217;s sami. Who else hates me this much?<\/p>\n<p>Gwen: You decapitated a stuffed animal?<\/p>\n<p>Ava: Yep. Rafe and nicole share custody of him.<\/p>\n<p>Gwen: Oh, well then, i suppose you didn&#8217;t have a choice, did you?<\/p>\n<p>Ava: No, not really. So again, what the hell are you doing here?<\/p>\n<p>Gwen: It&#8217;s xander. He&#8217;s not gonna give up until he finds sarah.<\/p>\n<p>Ava: Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Calm down; calm down. When kristen makes sure that people disappear, she&#8217;s really good at it, and so wherever she&#8217;s got sarah, she&#8217;s gonna stay there.<\/p>\n<p>Gwen: Yeah, I keep telling myself that, but&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Ava: Okay, and if it wasn&#8217;t for the two of us, right, she&#8217;d be in statesville right now. She&#8217;s not gonna double-cross us.<\/p>\n<p>Gwen: I helped her escape, because she said to me that if I didn&#8217;t she would go and tell xander where sarah is. If he finds her&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>Ava: Okay, I&#8217;m telling you, no one is gonna find her, okay? You don&#8217;t need to worry.<\/p>\n<p>Gwen: Except for the fact that xander wants to hire steve to help find her now, and he&#8217;s good, isn&#8217;t he? You do have to worry.<\/p>\n<p>Kayla: Well, I thought that sarah was working with rex for doctors without borders.<\/p>\n<p>Xander: Well, he was, alone. And he had no idea that everyone here thought she was with him.<\/p>\n<p>Kayla: But maggie&#8217;s heard from her, right? Does maggie know about this?<\/p>\n<p>Xander: Yeah, I told her.<\/p>\n<p>Kayla: She must be a wreck.<\/p>\n<p>Xander: Oh, she&#8217;s pretty tough. But we both just wanna know for sure that sarah&#8217;s all right. So what do you say?<\/p>\n<p>Steve: Let me ask you something. Isn&#8217;t it possible that sarah just decided to move on from your relationship?<\/p>\n<p>Xander: That suddenly? On the day we were supposed to be married?<\/p>\n<p>Steve: It happens.<\/p>\n<p>Xander: Not in this case. And believe me, I&#8211;I really did talk myself into thinking that&#8217;s what happened, but now that I know she&#8217;s not with rex and rex has no idea where she is, I&#8211; look, I think something is very wrong.<\/p>\n<p>Steve: Well, I&#8217;m sorry you&#8217;re so worried and that maggie is too. God knows I&#8217;d do anything for her, but I&#8217;m on another case; I&#8217;m on my way out of town. Maybe you should talk to my partner.<\/p>\n<p>Kayla: John, after everything that he&#8217;s been through with marlena?<\/p>\n<p>Xander: Well, I&#8217;m gonna ask anyway. I&#8217;m sorry, but I just have to know what happened to sarah.<\/p>\n<p>Maggie: So I called melissa, nathan, and melanie, and no one has heard anything from sarah.<\/p>\n<p>Abigail: Hmm, I bet they&#8217;re pretty worried now too.<\/p>\n<p>Maggie: Yeah, very.<\/p>\n<p>Abigail: We&#8217;re gonna find her, aunt maggie.
